4. INTRODUCTION Method is nothing but a scientific way of presenting the subject, keeping in mind the psychological and physical requirements of the children. For effective learning of Mathematics the method has to be as good as the content. It is through method only that is possible to make a subject interesting and useful. 5. The method to be adopted depends upon many factors which include the environment and the familiar situations or experiences that are to be correlated effectively. 6. A learner- centered approach  is about shifting the focus of instruction from the instructor to the  learner . This shift offers the best experience for the  learner  because it has them engage with the instructor, the content, and other  learners . CHARACTERISTICS OF ANALYTICAL METHOD It is the method we break up the unknown problem into simpler parts and then see how these can be recombined to find the solution It is the process of unfolding of the problem or of conducting its operation to know its hidden aspects. 10. CHARACTERISTICS OF SYNTHETIC METHOD It is the method we combine together a number of facts, perform certain mathematical operations and arrive at the solution. It is the method we start with know data and connect it with the unknown part. It is the process of putting together known bits of information to reach the point where unknown information becomes obvious and true We proceed from hypothesis to conclusion. 17. DEMERITS OF ANALYTICAL METHOD It is time consuming and lengthy method, so it is uneconomical. In this method facts are not presented in a neat and systematic order. This method is not suitable for all the topics in Mathematics. This method does not find favour with all the students because below average students fail to follow this method. 19. DEMERITS OF SYNTHETIC METHOD It makes the students passive listeners and encourages cramming. While teaching by this method, teacher does not carry the class with him. 20. CONCLUSION Analytical and synthetic methods are inter-dependent or complementary. One is complete without the other. Analytical method is a logical way to develop a solution as it accounts for each and every step. But if we follow only analytical method we fail to present the facts in a systematic way.
