ACTIVITY

Scenario 1 : A 21-year-old woman skips her breakfast meal always. She referred to a clinic due to consistent discomfort and significant weight loss. She had a tarry stool early in the morning. She experiences pain in her abdomen and when she takes aspirin and drink coffee the pain worsened . CRUEL ULCER

Scenario 2: Kyrie is a 19-year-old college student who complains of having an embarrassing bowel problem. Specifically, he has three to four bowel movements per day. The stool described as being usually mushy but at times, well formed. LMB LBM

EVALUATION

How does digestion process occur in the body ? a. It breaks down the food into bits. b. Breakdown of large insoluble food molecules into small water-soluble food molecules. c. Transport blood throughout the body d. Exchange of CO2 and O2 .

2 . It breaks down the food into bits to facilitate transfer thru esophagus to the stomach? a . Small intestine c. Stomach b . Mouth d. P roteins

The following organs are part of the human digestive system, EXCEPT: A. mouth B. esophagus C. small Intestine D. gastro vascular cavity

4. Which of the following is the correct order of the digestive tract ? A. mouth → esophagus → rectum → anus → small intestine→ large intestine B. mouth → stomach → esophagus → anus → small intestine→ large intestine C. mouth → esophagus → stomach → small intestine → large intestine→ anus D. mouth → esophagus → stomach → small intestine → anus→ large intestine

5. Which of the following best lifestyle that makes digestive system healthy? a . Engage in Cigarettes smoking b. Always eat fatty and sweets food c . Proper diet and exercise d . Proper Hygiene

ASSIGNMENT!

Note : An infographic is a collection of images, diagrams, and text that provides an easy-to-understand general idea of a topic. Most infographics use prominent and attractive illustrations to converse the facts quickly and clearly.

What is Digestive System?

Parts of the Digestive System Mouth Esophagus Stomach Liver Gallbladder Pancreas Small Intestine Large intestine Rectum Anus

MOUTH Where digestion begins; this is where the food is mechanically broken down by chewing chewed pulp and the tongue helps in pushing the bits and broken into small pieces for easier digestion.

ESOPHAGUS It is a tube that connects the mouth and stomach. It carries the food down to your stomach for temporary storage and further digestion .

STOMACH J-shaped organ found at the end of the esophagus on the upper left side of the abdomen or abdominal cavity that produces gastric juices and acids.

LIVER Is a solid organ in the digestive system that produces bile, which helps digest fats and remove waste. The liver also filters blood, stores nutrients, and removes toxic substances.

GALLBLADDER Is a small, pear-shaped organ that stores bile, a digestive fluid, and releases it into the small intestine. It's located in the upper right abdomen, beneath the liver.

PANCREAS Is a gland in the abdomen that produces digestive enzymes and hormones that help with digestion and regulate blood sugar.

SMALL INTESTINE Break down food, absorb nutrients the body needs, and excrete unnecessary components.

LARGE INTESTINE It reabsorbs water from undigested food materials coming from the small intestine.

RECTUM Is the final part of the large intestine, where stool is stored until it's excreted through the anus.

ANUS It is where the waste or remaining food materials that become more solid known as feces will be temporarily stored and eliminated.

2 main types of Digestion Mechanical Digestion Chemical Digestion

. PROCESS OF DIGESTION INGESTION- is the process that happens in digestive system. It is the journey of taking in food or any substance into the body through the mouth.

. PROCESS OF DIGESTION B. DIGESTION- is the second process involved in digestive system. It is the process that involves break down of large food molecules into smaller molecules for easy absorption of the cells.

. PROCESS OF DIGESTION C. ABSORPTION- it occurs mostly in the small intestine where several digestive juices, pancreatic juice, and bile aid in the chemical digestion of food.

. PROCESS OF DIGESTION D. ASSIMILATION- it is the movement of digested food nutrients into the blood vessels of the small intestine through diffusion and use of nutrients into the body through the microvilli .

. PROCESS OF DIGESTION E. EGESTION- it is the release of undigested food collected in the rectum called feces and pushed out of the body through the anus by defecation.
