III. TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCEDURE NOTES TO TEACHERS
A. Activating Prior
Knowledge
DAY 1
Short Review
Verb Tense Relay
1.Divide the class into teams.
2.Set up a start and finish line.
3.Place verb flashcards face down at the finish line.
4.One student from each team runs to the finish line, picks up a flashcard, and
reads the verb tense aloud.
5.If correct, they return to tag the next player. If incorrect, they return the card
and tag the next player.
6.Keep going until all players have had a turn or a set number of rounds.
7.Award points for correct identifications and speed.
8.Discuss any challenges or questions after the game.
9.Summarize the main points of verb tenses.
In place of flashcards, you may
use slide presentations. Reveal
verbs and each group will race
in giving the correct tense of the
verb.
B. Establishing Lesson
Purpose
1. Lesson Purpose (5 minutes)
In establishing the lesson purpose, you may use this metaphor:
“Writing a text with introduction, body, and conclusion is like building a house
- the introduction is the front door, the body is the rooms with all the details,
and the conclusion is like saying goodbye at the end. So, by learning this, you'll
be able to write better and share your thoughts in a way that makes sense to
others.”
“Learning to write a text with an introduction, body, and conclusion is important
because it helps you share your ideas in a clear and organized way. When you
write this way, it's easier for others to understand what you're saying. You can
use this skill when you write stories, reports for school, or even letters to friends
and family.”
You may use an illustration of a
house (or the very common
sandwich) as a metaphor to the
parts of a text.

c.El Nido has beaches and lagoons while Coron has its snorkeling,
parasailing, and diving activities.

River.
e.The next vacation, pack your bags to Palawan and experience a piece of
paradise.
Introduction Palawan is a dream destination for both local and foreign tourists.
Body The three most visited places in Palawan are El Nido, Coron, and Puerto
Princesa.
El Nido has beaches and lagoons while Coron has its snorkeling,
parasailing, and diving activities.
On the other hand, tourists flock to Puerto Princesa to see the
Underground River.
Conclusion The next vacation, pack your bags to Palawan and experience a piece of
paradise.
Use the completed paragraph to explain further the content words introduced
earlier.
Since this is a pair activity, you
may provide each pair with half
a cartolina for them to complete
the outline as seen on this
section.
More examples can be provided
here.

DAY 2
2.Worked Example
Ask students to identify whether the following sentences are part of the
introduction, body, or conclusion. Class reviews the description/characteristics
of the introduction, body, and conclusion based on what they have learned in
the previous session.
a.Have you ever wondered what life on Mars would be like?
b.There are many reasons why I love biking. First, biking is economical.
c.Those were the best five days of my life. I surely won’t forget it!

electricity. These windmills were funded by a 48-million-dollar grant from
the Danish government.
Answers: a (Introduction), b (body), c (introduction or conclusion, d (body)
Activity 1. Practice Writing. Write a text on Amazing Bohol by completing the
paragraphs with the given sentences. The worksheet provides writing tips and
prompts to help students put together and write their ideas. Collaborative writing
in class may be explored to model the writing process.
In this part, it is crucial to
discuss the features and
characteristics of the sentences
that qualify them to be
classified as part of the
introduction, body, or
conclusion. Students may need
more examples taken from
several non-fiction texts.
Note that depending on how the
writer composes his/her text,
some sentences may serve as
either introduction or
conclusion. This means the
ideas in the introduction is
repeated in the conclusion.
Introductionpresents an overview or background of the reading
selection/text

DAY 3
3. Lesson Activity
Activity 2. Paired Writing. Using the template provided, class writes a text about
an unforgettable place or event. Guide them in using the prompts in the
Worksheet.
Pairs can present their outputs for peer critiquing and/or teacher feedback.
D. Making
Generalizations
1.Learners’ Takeaways
Think-pair-share. Students share with a partner their answers to these
questions:
How does an introduction work in a text?
What do you usually find at the body of the text?
Why is a conclusion important at the end of the text?
2.Reflection on Learning
Students write their thoughts on these prompts:
I see … (2 things I’ve learned)
I feel …(how I feel about the entire lesson)
I think … (2 practical uses of the knowledge and skills I’ve learned)
IV. EVALUATING LEARNING: FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT AND TEACHER’S REFLECTION NOTES TO TEACHERS
A. Evaluating LearningDAY 4
Formative Assessment
Activity 3. Independent Writing. Students write a text with the title My Favorite
Local Travel Destination. The expected output is a narrative- descriptive essay that
talks about students’ experience visiting/traveling to a tourist spot in their
locality. Students may research information about their chosen tourist spot to
help them with their writing. See the Worksheet for Activity 3.
Present the following questions to help students compose their essay:
What is your favorite tourist spot in your city/municipality or province?
Why do you like it?
Adopt, adapt, or create a rubric
for this task.

6
MATATAG K TO 10 CURRICULUM
What are its tourist attractions/activities?
What was your experience visiting it like? (Narrate the highlights of your
trip.)
Why is it worth visiting?
B. Teacher’s
Remarks
Note observations on
any of the following
areas:
Effective Practices Problems Encountered
The teacher may take note of
some observations related to
the effective practices and
problems encountered after
utilizing the different strategies,
materials used, learner
engagement and other related
stuff.
Teachers may also suggest ways
to improve the different
activities explored/lesson
exemplar.
strategies explored
materials used
learner engagement/
interaction
others
C. Teacher’s
Reflection
Reflection guide or prompt can be on:
▪principles behind the teaching
What principles and beliefs informed my lesson?
Why did I teach the lesson the way I did?
▪students
What roles did my students play in my lesson?
What did my students learn? How did they learn?
▪ways forward
What could I have done differently?
What can I explore in the next lesson?
Teacher’s reflection in every
lesson conducted/ facilitated is
essential and necessary to
improve practice. You may also
consider this as an input for the
LAC/Collab sessions.
