WHAT IS A GENERAL SECRETARY? The general secretary is the public face of the council, and is responsible for guiding the council through events and meetings. They also act as a link between the council and management, keeping them updated on the council's work. He/she works closely with the President and assumes all the duties of the President in his/her absence or when officially requested by the President. The general secretary has a wide range of duties and responsibilities as he/she overlooks the work of entire council and supervises them.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A GENERAL SECRETARY COMMUNICATION : The General Secretary is responsible for communication between the student body and administration. They ensure that student voices are heard and represented in decision-making processes, fostering a collaborative environment. MEETING COORDINATION : Another crucial duty is the coordination of meetings. The General Secretary organizes regular meetings, prepares agendas, and ensures that minutes are recorded, promoting transparency and accountability within student governance. EVENT PLANNING : The General Secretary also oversees the planning and execution of student events. This includes coordinating logistics, managing budgets, and promoting events to encourage student participation and community building.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A GENERAL SECRETARY ADVOCACY AND REPRESENTATION : As an advocate for students, the General Secretary represents student interests in discussions with college administration. They work to address concerns and propose solutions, ensuring that students’ needs are prioritized. DECISION MAKING : Implementing committee decisions, making strategic decisions, and participating in policy-making The General Secretary is responsible for ensuring that the team is content and working in a comprehensive manner that maintains the status of the student council.
PLANS FOR INSTITUTE DEVELOPMENT ESTABLISHMENT OF A GREEN CAMPUS: Pollution of all kinds is damaging the environment dangerously , so by shifting towards a cleaner and greener campus would be a significant step towards the betterment of our institute. Along with the current facilities of e-bus, several e-rickshaws can also be run in the institute for the facilitation of students. Construction of a common ground where students can spend there time and refreshen their mood.
2. RAGGING- FREE CAMPUS Zero tolerance towards any attempts of ragging. The accused to be punished strictly, including exemption(if needed), when found guilty. Complete restriction on any kinds of harmful or violent activities. Police aid to be required on serious cases.
3. TECHNO- CULTURAL FEST One of the most important function of the student council is the smooth organization and conduction of the student techno- cultural fest in the institute. It includes the overall planning, construction and decoration of the venue, inviting the desired guests and their hospitality, everything to be operated in the nicest way possible. The events are attended by people from all over the city so the reputation of the institute and the council is at stake, hence the fests should be conducted with utmost care.
VISION Our goal must be to make NIT BHOPAL as the no. 1 institute among the NIT’s And IIT’S by the year 2035, which may seen to be a wild dream, but with the collective efforts of the students as well as the administration, it is achievable!. Encouraging extra curricular activities like sports, literature, various competitions etc. which will bring large participation as well as recognition from many prestigious universities worldwide. Increasing research based projects and collaboration with other companies and/or institutes. By frequent industrial visits for core branches to increase practical knowledge and application.
VISION 4. To spark the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students by making them aware and guiding them into the world of immense opportunity by providing them with sufficient resources. 5. To develop better sports facilities for all sports which would increase the participation as well as results in several tournaments .
