Slide Content

Blood Composition and general functions of blood & Plasma proteins their production and function by, Miss Areesha Ahmad Lecturer

Mesoderm: the middle of the three primary germ layers of an embryo that is the source of many bodily tissues and structures  (such as bone, muscle, connective tissue, and dermis) broadly : tissue derived from this germ layer.

(Retinol , also known as vitamin A) (steroid hormone)

A colloid is defined as  a high molecular weight (MW) substance (Edema is the medical term for  swelling)

Hemophilia : blood doesn't clot properly Thrombus is  a blood clot in the circulatory system

Other solutes Electrolytes : Regulate chemical reactions, maintain the balance between fluids inside and outside your cells.

(unborn) Bone marrow is  a spongy substance found in the center of the bones

White blood cell that contain small granules of enzymes in their cytoplasm. When the body is infected or inflamed, granulocytes rush to the area and release their granules to help fight infection They do not have granules in their cytoplasm.   They produce antibodies against the antigens and destroy the antigen

WBC that has granules (small particles) with enzymes (Heparin is  an anticoagulant) Lobe: Nucleus is segmented into two or more connected lobe Combat: Reduce

lack granules in their cytoplasm .

Platelets , also known as thrombocytes, are colorless cell fragments in the blood that help form clots to stop or prevent bleeding

(large , multinucleated cells)

Hematocrit (HCT) is a blood test that measures the percentage of red blood cells (RBCs) in your blood relative to the total blood volume. It's also known as packed cell volume (PCV).
