INTRODUCTION
•Kaphaketu Rasa is very popular organo-mineral preparation used for Vata-Kaphaja
Pratishaya, Kasa-Swasa and other Pranavaha Sroto dusti vikaras and for many other
diseases.
•The Kaphaketu Rasa has various methods of preparation and clinical applications.
•Hence how to assess its quality and standard is a question in this scientific and
technologically advanced era.
• High prevalence rate of allergic disorders ranging between 25% to 50% during the life
time of persons their ever increasing incidence of severity worldwide are a matter of
concern.
•Kaphaketu Rasa may be the answer for all afore said concern
•The present study is designed to establish its effects more scientifically by evaluating:
Anti histaminic property of Kaphaketu Rasa experimentally in particular
respiratory allergic disorder.
Pharmaceutics, by adopting standard Operative Procedures.
Physico chemical study; to support experimental study.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
•Establish conceptual theme on organo-mineral preparation w.s..r. to
Kaphaketu Rasa.
•SOP and SMP will be developed for Kaphaketu Rasa.
•Physico-chemical standards was developed for kaphaketu Rasa.
•The other criterion of selection is based on to establish scientifically
its efficiency as an anti histaminic activity through experimental
study.

REVIEW OF LITERATURE
•Formulation Review:
Kapha Ketu Rasa mentioned in Kapha Roga Chikitsa Prakarana of Rasendra Sara
Sangraha is selected.
•Ingredients of Kapha Ketu Rasa
Tankana, Pippali, Shankha Bhasma and Vatsanaba in equal parts and Ardraka
Swarasa for bhavana.
•Method of preparation of Kapha Ketu Rasa
Shanka Bhasma, Shodita Tankana, Shodita and Vastragalita Vatsanabha and Pippali
choornas are to be homogenously mixed and Bhavana with Ardraka Swarasa should
be given for 3 times. Then the dried drug is further powdered. The prepared
compound drug Kapha Ketu Rasa is then ready for dispensing at a dose of 2 Ratti.
•Indications of Kapha Ketu Rasa:
Kasa, swasa, Peenasa, netraroga, Galaroga, Karnaroga, Galagraha, Danta Roga.

ANIMAL EXPERIMENT
Results and Discussion:
The KaphaKetu Ras at 23.25mg/1.5kg, p.o., significantly extended the latent period of PCD as
compared with the control [ Tab. 1], following exposure to histamine aerosols on day 3, 4 and 5
respectively. The graph was shown as the onset of dysponea (sec) and the KaphaKetu Ras
compared with the control groups (n=5) for 5days as shown in [ Fig. 1].

DISCUSSION
Discussion on SOP and SMP of Kaphaketu Rasa:
On observing different physical constants of three samples of Kaphaketu Rasa we
can infer that Pharmaceutics followed in the preparation of Kaphaketu Rasa is well according
to classics standard operative procedures and standard manufacturing process. We can claim
that the prepared drug was of higher standards.
Discussion on Phyto constituents:
Qualitative identification of Phyto constituents in Kaphaketu Rasa revealed that it
contains Alkaloids, Steroids, Triterpenoids, Flavonids and Saponins. As Kaphaketu Rasa is
composed of useful wide above phytoconstituents it can be said that it is effective in
management of curative properties of Alkaloids Anti septic and Anti microbial action and
Immuno stimulant properties of Triterpenoids, the steroidal anti inflammatory synergies the
action of Kaphaketu Rasa.

Discussion on Animal Experiment:
Kaphaketu Rasa Activity on Histamine induced Broncospasm in guinea pigs was
conducted to establish its Antihistaminic Activity. Kaphaketu Rasa prolonged latent period of
Pre-convulsion Dyspnoea (PCD) following histamine aerosol, peaks were observed in 4
th
day
and 5
th
day of the study; PCD latent period increased from 3
rd
day onwards; this may be
suggestive of anti histaminic activity of Kaphaketu Rasa.
Discussion on HPTLC:
The choromatography of mixture shows the presence of major
components of sample (II) Shudha Vatsanabha in large and some components of
Shunthi and Pippali are also present in low percentage, may be because of
Kaphaketu Rasa is treated with highly volatile solvent media.

CONCLUSION
Khalviya Rasayana is a unique scientific pharmaceutical method to bind phyto ingredients to the metallo
mineral ingredients, without direct agni paka. Hence all the volatile and Non-volatile active components
are kept intact with formulations. More over with less instrumentation and least technology by process of
Bhavana, Mardhana. There by all ingredients will form a monomolecular compact form i.e. each molecule
of ingredients of Kaphaketu rasa treated with Ardraka swarasa and whole mass of Kaphaketu Rasa
becomes highly potent.
Phyto ingredients of Kaphaketu Rasa were analysed physically and chemically, Phyto chemicals of
Kaphaketu Rasa were analysed; HPTLC was also studied to know standard qualities of ingredients. All the
above tests were within the standard limit. Hence proving its safety and genuinity.
Three samples of KaphaKetu Rasa prepared according to the classics showed no much changes in
physical constants. Hence the procedure followed is of standard one.
Animal experiment was conducted on Histamine induced Bronchospasam in Guinea pigs; and anti
histaminic activity of Kaphaketu Rasa is statistically significant.
Kaphaketu Rasa acts on Kapha and Vata; as Shotahara, Kledamalahara, Krimigna, Vatanulomaka,
Tridosha Shamaka; acts as analgesic, anti inflammatory, anti biotic, anti histaminic activity. In total
Kaphaketu Rasa acts as immune Suppressant of Histaminic activity also as a Rasayana. Proving to be the
best, effective, safe medication for Pratishaya (Allergic Rhinitis).
