WRITING OPENING PARAGRAPH I am applying for the position of Site Supervisor advertised in The New Straits Times on 16th February 2016. EXAMPLE 1 EXAMPLE 2 With reference to your job advertisement on The Jobstreet website, Ref.no: 21085 of 16th February 2016, I wish to be considered for the post of Mechanical Technician. EXAMPLE 3 I understand from Encik Airil Rizman, who is an accountant with your company, that you will shortly be opening a position for an Accounts Executive. I would like to be considered for that position.
WRITING BODY PARAGRAPH make connection between your skills, achievements and what they need HIGHLIGHT WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER include workshops you attended, part-time jobs, or certification courses you did that provide you with the relevant skills or knowledge for the position being offered. EXAMPLE 1 Going by the job description, I believe that your company is seeking a candidate with good presentation skills, strong communication skills, and some basic knowledge of marketing. Having done two internships in marketing during my graduation, I have learned the basic concepts of this subject. The internships helped me to polish my speaking skills and also helped me to have the soft skills relevant to working in the marketing sector. I am well-trained in email and social media marketing and making professional PowerPoint presentations In my fourth semester at XXX University, I headed a team to create a social awareness campaign for gender equality. I conceptualized the campaign and overlooked everything from designing the banners, mobilizing opinions, collaborating with organizations, and all other arrangements. The event taught me the power of teamwork and time management to accomplish a goal.
EXAMPLE 2 My name is Amir Hamzah, and I am a fresh graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the Politeknik Merlimau Melaka. Given my first-class degree and my interest in designing, manufacturing and installing systems and components, I am confident that I will be a strong candidate for this position. It aligns with my creative and analytical skills and will give me a good start in the mechanical engineering industry." Along with good interpersonal and communication skills, I have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I also have a strong aptitude for mathematics, and I am proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, 3D Max and 3D Modelling. I understand the prototyping process and have hands-on experience in taking things from idea to prototype. I interned for a month with Akiron Mobility in XXXXX and learned a lot about automotive systems and working with bikes. I keep expanding my knowledge base with my interactions with industry professionals, by reading industry journals.
EXAMPLE 3 I believe that I meet a majority of the required qualifications and skills and that my experience in this field will make me a strong candidate for the position. I believe in being professional in the workspace and have no problem in meeting the tight deadlines as and when required of me. EXAMPLE 4 - AFTER INTERNSHIP Even though my resume may primarily appear about academic achievements, I have also been active in extra-curricular activities (mention activities). Not just this, I have been an active intern at (mention internship company name), filling the role of (mention internship position). The internship prepared me to handle the responsibilities that are present in the (desired field). I also developed numerous skills such as (mention relevant skills) during the internship.
EXAMPLE 5 I have studied ( degree name ) from ( university name ). During my time there I had taken up courses related to (insert three to four relevant courses that you have taken at the university). Currently, I hold a total (percentage or GPA) and have been a good student the entire term of my study in the University. I have also been ranked (mention your rank in class, if any) in a class of (mention the approximate number of students). While attending classes, I focused my attention towards the following areas: 1.(mention first area of interest) 2.(mention second area of interest) 3.(mention third area of interest) My focused study helped me develop (university project that you have completed). It has helped me secure a prominent internship in (mention internship company) and I was placed (mention rank obtained due to the project) overall.
WRITING CLOSING PARAGRAPH specify why you want to work with them and then reiterate how your skills align with what the company requires. Let them know you have researched the company WHY DO YOU WANT TO WORK WITH THEM requesting them to arrange for an interview at their convenience and asking to get in touch with you via phone or email. ASK THEM TO CONTACT YOU End the cover letter for fresher candidates by thanking the hiring manager or recruiter for taking the time to read it For hard copy letters, leave two spaces for a physical signature and then write your name under that, followed by a mention of the enclosed resume. In an email, state the resume as an attachment after thanking them. THANK THEM FOR THEIR TIME AND SIGN OFF
