CLAIM OF FACT Different types of claims CLAIM OF VALUE CLAIM OF POLICY
Claim of FACT are inferences made based on data, documents, and scientific observation results, and research. These require grounds that are sufficient and appropriate, recent and accurate data, and clearly defined terminologies.
EXAMPLE - The oldest known disease in the world is leprosy. - Kaamulan Festival is celebrated in Bukidnon.
Claim of VALUE -are judgements based on moral standards and norms. -based on preference.
EXAMPLE - Teacher Trisha is my favorite teacher. -The GSW is the best team in the world!
Claim of POLICY -are specific and measurable actions that need to be done in order to address issues or concerns presented in the argument or proposition. - requires proposal of clear and measurable actions or steps, justification, advantage of proposed action, and possible counter arguments.
EXAMPLE - The congress should pass the bill. -Death penalty should be imposed in the Philippines.
Characteristics of a good claim A claim should be argumentative and debatable. It should be specific and focused. It should be interesting and engaging. It should be logical.

Activity: Claim Exploration Stations Objective: To deepen understanding of different types and characteristics of claims through engaging stations that cater to various intelligences.
Procedure: - The students will be divided into groups based on their preferred intelligence. - Explain the tasks and provide necessary materials. -The students will be given sufficient time to complete their tasks. Creativity and critical thinking are encouraged throughout the activity. A differentiated scoring rubric is used for scoring.
Differentiated Instructions: Verbal-Linguistic Group: Task: Write a persuasive argument (claim) of your choice (fact, value, or policy) on a given topic. Materials: Writing materials Logical-Mathematical Group: Task: A data will be provided consisting of charts and survey results, the students will analyze the data and derive claims from it. ( Claim of fact, Value, and Policy) Materials: Charts.
Visual-Spatial Group: Task: Create an infographic or poster that visually represents the characteristics of a good claim. Materials: Art supplies, claim characteristic guidelines. Interpersonal Group: Task: Engage in a debate or discussion with peers about the merits of different types of claims. Materials: Discussion prompts, debate rules.
Intrapersonal Group: Task: Reflect on a personal experience and formulate a claim related to that experience. Materials: Reflection prompts, journals. Musical-Rhythmic Group: Task: Write a short song or jingle that communicates the essence of a claim (fact, value, or policy). Materials: Musical instruments (optional), songwriting guidelines.
