6. Water is vital for life. Clean fresh water is necessary for drinking and sanitation, providing for our crops, livestock and industry, and creating and sustaining the ecosystems on which all life depends.

7. Water is most abundant molecule in cells, accounting for 70% or more of total cell mass. Can our cells function without water?

8. Not only does water cover more than 70 percent of our planet's surface, it can also absorb large amounts of heat without a large increase in temperature. This tremendous ability to store and release heat over long periods of time gives the ocean a central role in stabilizing Earth's climate system.
