I have created this lesson plan for the target audience, which are children in first and second grade. This mathematics lesson will teach them about the value of different amounts of money, how to identify them, and how they can be used. http://exchange.smarttech.com/details.html?id=66c2195c-4cd2-47ff-b24f-ce470a088532
Lesson Plan After teaching the students the value, name, and appearance of each coin, I would have them split into even groups and write their responses to each question on a note card. Since I would assign a different coin to each group, I would then have them share their notecard responses with the entire class so the other students could learn.
After the students share their responses, I would have each group go up to the smart board and complete the activity listed in the picture. Each student from every group would take turns circling items on the board as new problems were presented. Lesson Plan
Universal Design Using smart boards for this lesson is a great example of universal design because it allows everyone in the classroom to get involved. Since students can go up and circle items on the board to complete activities, they are able to participate and learn if they may not feel comfortable talking in front of the class.
