Resilience In Unbroken
The true meaning of resilience is shown many times in the book Unbroken.
Having strong problem solving skills is what it took Louie and Phil to survive the
troubles of beings trapped at sea. The two and Mac faced many challenges and all
of them dealt with it differently. They supported each other by communicating and
sharing all the food. Support 1: Louie, Phil, and Mac did something many of us
would believe to be a nightmare. They were trapped in the Pacific ocean for 47 days
with no food and water. The hardest obstacles they faced were finding water and
keeping their sanity. This is shown in the text when Louie instead of allowing large
pools of water to gather, he began continuously sucking the captured water into his
mouth, then spitting

Summers Are Warm Than Winters In The Northern
Hemisphere
1.Summers are warmer than winters in the Northern Hemisphere due to the tilt of the
earth. During this time, the earth is tilted towards the sun and the Northern
Hemisphere is getting more direct sunlight.
2.One law states that the greater the surface area that an objects has, the greater the
temperature it has. Another law states that the greater the temperature, the shorter the
wavelength an object has.
3.The greenhouse effect is how the Earth naturally warms up. During the greenhouse
effect, the sun radiates it heat into our atmosphere. From there, most of the heat gets
trapped in the Earth s surface, which is later released back into our atmosphere. At
the lower atmosphere, water vapor and carbon dioxide are the gases that absorb most

Persuasive Essay About Mental Health
I was in the video group, in my group we have difference ideas when it comes to
planning. Since we never took the time to plan or come up with an idea that
everyone agrees with. Therefore, since we never come up with an idea that
everyone agrees with I just went with my idea. Which was to interview different
departments on campus and student organization. Which these departments and
student organization that I have interview was Mosaic center, NAMI student
organization, Women center, and veteran s services. I interview these individual
with my iPhone not with GoPro or Canon Vixia since I was not a big fan of these
record materials. In addition, when it comes to the interview I record them in a
week in a half. The most useful for me as a student would have to be the interviews
since I learned about what each department offers for us students on campus and the
stigma that is surround mental health. The reason why I found this useful since as a
Black American in my community we didn t talk about mental health. Therefore, for
me to record the interviews I have been expose to a topic that I never known nothing
about. From these interviews I learned that mental health education in schools needs
to be a priority. Since Mental illness, particularly depression is becoming one of the
main causes of chronic illness in America. Worked collaboratively with the rest of
the class was little bit bothersome because of the website stack. Since most of the
class was not using that website

Essay about Farming The Tambopata Reserve
Tambopata Peru is one of the poorest and most underdeveloped regions of Latin
America. The area is home to undernourished children, lack of secure work and
education.
There is an imperative need not just for Tambopata, but all of Peru to increase its
economy and enable the access of basic needs to its citizens. While the area of
Tambopata has many arguments for its potential use, sustainable soybean cultivation
is the best approach to improve Peruvian infrastructure, economy and future
preservation of natural areas.
There are many potential land uses for the Tambopata Reserve. One of which, that
gains much environmentalist backing, is slash and burn agriculture. While this method
of agriculture has long traditionally been employed and ... Show more content on

In the same study, 3.3 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be lessened by
2020 through sustainable soybean production. These methods allow for a reduction
in overall costs due to decreased overhead in both machinery and herbicide
applications (Green, 2010).
Perhaps the greatest benefit of using conservation tillage soybean production over
other potential land uses is the consecutive insurance of high yields in small areas.
Due to these high yields per hectare, more land can be saved for the Tambopata
Reserve and its inhabitants. Additionally, if soybeans that were raised within the
reserve were taxed, money can come back into the park to aid in its prosperity and
protection of the local soybean market. Many guidelines have been implemented in
neighboring Brazil and Paraguay to ensure both economic growth and rainforest
protection that could be implemented in Tambopata.
If soybean production were undertaken in Tambopata, the crops would be raised
under World Wildlife Federation and the Nature Conservancy s guidelines of Forest
Friendly Soy (Schnoecker, 2007). This means that at least eighty percent of farmers
land must be preserved as forest to make up for the twenty percent farmed. The
World Wildlife Federation recently awarded Paraguay with the Leaders for a Living
Planet award in recognition of their Zero Deforestation Law, which prohibits the
conversion of forested to agricultural

Nuclear Power And The Chernobyl Disaster
The Chernobyl Disaster was not meant to happen at all, what was supposed to
happen was an experiment to see if the reactor s own electrical needs could be
supplied by a freewheeling turbine in the event of a power outage, but the
experiment did not go as it was planned. This experiment gone wrong caused so
much radiation sickness to the people, which lead to death by sickness, or death by
cancer. The people who lived ended up having children with many mutations and
disabilities. The Soviet Union wanted to hide the fact this never happened, so they
released false information about the disaster to the public not realizing the many after
effects this would have on the world, the people and the environment. Nuclear power

The first part of the five basic parts to a nuclear reactor starts with the core which
holds the Uranium fuel. As there are many different types of reactors each core
holds a different type of Uranium. For some examples, a heavy water reactor uses
natural Uranium, which 0.7% is Uranium 235, while light water reactors use
Uranium that has been enriched, so that Uranium 235 makes up around 3 5% of the
total. The next part of the reactor is the moderator, now the moderator is a light
material such as water. The water will allow the neutrons to be slowed down without
being captured. The benefit of slowing down these fast neutrons during fission is it
can increase their efficiency by causing further fission. Control Rods are made up of
materials that can absorb neutrons, such as silver, boron, indium, hafnium, or
cadmium. These are introduced into the reactor to reduce the number of neutrons and
thus stop the fission process when required to stop. Another use of the rods is to
control the level and distribution of power in the reactor. Next part of the reactor is
the coolant. The coolant is the fluid that circulates through the reactor core. This
absorbs and transfers heat that is produced by nuclear fission. Also at the same time, it
maintains the temperature of the fuel within the acceptable limits. The final part the
nuclear reactor is the

Mr Birling Power Quotes
One way priestly uses the theme of power is to present the theme of authority.
There is authority shown between Mr birling and his daughter Sheila. When Mr
Birling talks to his daughter Sheila, he talks to her in a manner which suggests that
he is a higher hierarchy status than Sheila. In the play Mr Birling says Be quite
Sheila! This quote supports my point because Mr birling has more power because
that s her father. Also Sheila is a woman and Mr Birling is a man, women had fewer
rights than men. During the time in which the book was written women did not have
the same right as men. Men were portrayed as more superior than women because of
the physical capabilities and men were the one who were working so this made
menthe leader, because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a power shift from Mr birling and inspector Goole I can tell this by the
language that inspector Goole. A quote that supports my point is nothing to do with
you, Sheila. Run along . The inspector says no wait a minute, miss birling . Mr
birling says to his daughter nothing to do with you . This quote shows us that
Inspector Goole challenges Mr birling by controlling his daughter Sheila. This quote
is significant because it shows that inspector Goole can stop an order that was not
given to him but to Mr birling s daughter. The inspector Goole uses the word No .
The inspector hold the most power by extracting information from others yet not
giving himself away. He has the ability to make the birling family say thing that help
solve the mystery of the death of Eva Smith. Priestley perhaps decided to include
this into his play to show that the socialist majority should stand up to the capitalist
minority. I believe he is trying to show this through the characters of inspector
Goole and Mr Birling. Inspector Goole is socialist while Mr birling is capitalist; I
think that J.B priestly want to see a power shift from capitalist to socialist, by
showing it through the characters Mr birling and inspector Goole. This is very
similar to Of mice and men and it can be linked to the novella. There is a shift of
power shown throughout the scene when Curley and Lennie

How Did Lenin Come To Power
Lenin thought the idea of a revolution, and the planning of it was effortless and
simple to carry on. He believed the attack had to be made in three key places,
including Petrograd, Moscow and Baltic Fleet. He believed the Petrograd soldiers
were able to obtain the Winter Palace, the General Staff Building and other important
buildings adding that this would cause Alexander Kerensky to surrender.
Notwithstanding, the BolshevikCentral Committee did not accept his ideas, leading to
an ultimatum sent by Lenin, in which he resigned to the Committee, and stated that
he would have the right to issue propaganda to those other members of the party.

He left Trotsky in charge of planning the event, and he became the main leader of the
Bolsheviks, the communist party he founded. In an attempt to bring the government
down,in November 6th the Red Guards, first took main points in the city of
Petrograd . Not many people were killed in the process. In November 8, the soldiers
decided to take the Winter Palace. Here the Provisional Government surrendered and
were captured and arrested.Lenin then gave a speech, revealing his own self and
announcing that the government he was creating.
On November 7th the Red Guards continued on taking important buildings in
Petrograd that included the telephone and telegram buildings, as well as the power
buildings. Then, they decided to get to the Winter Palace, the place where the
provisional Government met and the old home of the czar. Nevertheless, the Palace
was left in charge of the Women s Battalion. The sign received by the Red Guards
to attack the Palace was a shell fired a naval ship named Aurora . The taking over did
not last, even though there were 1000 rooms in the place and caused the government
to surrender

The Differences Of Love And Sex In Amп їЅlie And Y Tu
Mamп їЅ...
There is a mysterious difference between love and sex in relationships. Often
people confuse the two in the climax of intimacy; however there is a big difference
between them both. Love is an emotion that you feel, and sex is a physical act or
biological event. Both can occur without the presence of the other. In the 2002
French comedy romance AmГ©lie and the 2001 Mexican drama film, Y Tu MamГ Ў
Tambien, the complexities of love and sex are confronted. In both movies the
filmmakers used omniscient narrators and produced imagery in international film that
in its own right, encompasses the paradigms of foreign culture while simultaneously
connecting artistic entertainment. After watching both, I will analyze the film
components, providing a perspective of the essential elements used by the
filmmakers in each. The concept used in AmГ©lie is a 3 Act Structure, which consist
of the Set up, the Confrontation and the Resolution. As described in our textbook act
one, which he calls the set up introduces the story, characters and setting. Act two, the
confrontation, focuses on the conflicts that come between the main characters and
their goals. Act three, resolution, settles these conflicts and ties up carious plot lines.
(Prince, p. 233) In the Exposition we are introduced to the characteristics of
AmГ©lie, her childhood and her life as an adult. In the confrontation we learn
AmГ©lie is in love and mysteriously hides her identity to him sending him on
scavenger hunts leading to

Ophelia s Suicide Note Essay example
Ophelia s Suicide Letter
Dear Hamlet,
I thought I would be able to bottle up all of these emotions but it seems I cannot
bear it any longer; I must let it all out. I must tell you, Hamlet, that living in this
mad world is driving me to the brink of insanity. I am just so fed up with going
about every single day persuading myself that I had ought to ignore it all and
simply, sweetly smile. But why should I? Why should I sit around and let the likes
of men like you order me around any longer? Yes Lord this, yes Lord that! Who do
all of you men think you are? Being ordered around by my father, brother and you,
my former lover, completely frustrates me every time. Am I your maid? Your slave?
Your toy? You all speak to me with such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What sense does this make? Such a thought makes me tremble in utter disbelief.
How could you have committed such a crime and not feel any sense of shame or
guilt? Had you not any thought or consideration for my well being or stability of
my emotional state when you committed such a sin? You didn t, did you since you
did not think twice to confirm who it was behind the arras. I am curious, Hamlet,
for what reason did you do such a terrible thing? What has he ever done to deserve
such a foul fate? Has he wronged you in any way? All he has done is loyally serve
your family yet this is what he receives in return! It overwhelms me with great
sadness.
Moreover, not only have I lost my father, but it seems I have lost you as well, both
mentally and physically. Following our separation, I still loved you Hamlet. But
you, who pushed me away and branded me as damaged goods, have broken my
fragile heart, have killed my father, someone who truly cared for me despite his
demands, and have left me in utter despair. Oh it feels as if my world is suddenly
falling apart! I cannot go to you, Hamlet, for your hands are stained with my father s
blood and as of late, I can hardly speak to you as your mind seems to have plummeted
to the depths of insanity! Yet at the same time, despite everything that has happened, I
find myself unable to leave you

Dante s Inferno and the Garden of Earthly Delights
The Garden of Earthly Delights painted by Hieronymus Bosch, depicts many vivid
fictional scenes in triptych style. The right wing of the triptych depicts Hell and the
causes of man s downfall, which Dante wrote about in the Inferno. Dante tries to
convey to all humanity the consequences of human actions and the levels of hellthat
he believes exist for different levels of sins. Dante divides Hell up into ten different
circles, and there is an upper and a lower level of Hell. Dante and Bosch have similar
views on the evil within people and this evil is represented in their works, whether it
transpires in a painting or in a book.

And that you may report on me up there, know that I am Bertran de Born, the one
who evilly encouraged the young king. (XXVIII: 133 135) Dante portrays the
figure of Bertran as a man who is holding his head that has been cut off. With
regards to the disemboweled person, Wrong is it for a man to have what he once cast
off. (XII: 104 105)
br
br There is a woman at the bottom right of the painting that is being held by a
kangaroo type creature. This creature may represent the invisible force that Dante
believes is inside a sinner that makes him do the things he does, whether it be caused
by mental or physical suffering. One of the sinners in the Inferno, an Impersonator,
kept craving water. He said, O you who bear no punishment at all (I can t think
why) within this world of sorrow, he said to us, pause here and look upon the misery
of one Master Adamo: in life I had all that I could desire, and now, alas, I crave a drop
of water. (XXX: 58 63) There is a man pictured near the woman and he is throwing
up. This could also be representative of the evil inborn in sinners.
br
br At the bottom left side of the painting is a man about to be eaten by a termite who
has a game table on his head. This is illustrating that the tables are turned on the man
who has committed some terrible crime. In the Inferno this is represented by Lucifer

Seat Belt Essay
With increased interstate speed limits, distracted drivers, and more vehicles on the
roadway buckling up could be the most important seconds utilized each day. Far
too many people are seriously injured or killed in vehicle crashes by choosing to
not wear a seat belt. Wearing a seat belt has proven to reduce serious and fatal
injuries in motor vehicle crashes. According to the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC), the leading cause of death in the U.S. among people
between the ages of 1 54 is motor vehicle crashes (2017). History has proven a need
for seat belt usage in the U.S. All but one U.S. state currently has a mandatory seat
belt law in effect, however many drivers and passengers still choose to not wear
one. This decision can have a tremendous effect on loved ones if killed or seriously

The original seat belt was invented in the late 1800s by George Cayley to help keep
pilots from falling out of gliders. On February 10, 1885, the first patented seat belt
was designed by Edward J. Claghorn to protect passengers riding in taxis in New
York City and eventually, became installed in manufactured cars for driver and
passenger safety (Vehicular Safety Devices, 2017). In 1930, U.S. physicians
began testing lap belts after a myriad of people died as a result of car crashes (Imre
Cotetiu, 2014). Over time the three point seat belt system was developed by Nils
Bohlin as a better way to restrain occupants (History of the Seat Belt, 2009). This
system, found in most vehicles today, restrains the upper and lower part of the body

How Do Fuel Cells Work
How fuel cells work A fuel cell is a device that produces an electrical current through
a chemical reaction. All fuel cells contain a cathode and an anode, which are positive
and negative electrodes, respectively. The chemical reactions which produce
electricity occur at the electrodes. Fuel cells also contain an electrolyte, which carries
electrically charged particles between the electrodes. A catalyst also aids to speed
up the chemical reaction at the electrodes. In fuel cells, an impurity must serve as
the electrolyte; if one uses distilled water for this experiment, it could serve only as
the control, because purified water does not contain any substances that react at the
electrodes. Some examples of impurities used as electrolytes in various types of fuel
cells include... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It consists of using hydrogen and hydroxyl ions to create electricity and end up
with potable water. This method very useful aboard spacecrafts allowing them to
stay in space for a longer amount of time because they can create their own water.
The next most common type is molten carbonate the electrolyte in this is carbonate
salts. However this type of fuel cell tends to be slightly less efficient due to the fact
that they have to be melted before they can be used. Having a liquid electrolyte can
be difficult to handle and time consuming. It is however useful seeing as it refreshes
the electrolyte through every cycle.
The last form of fuel cells available is PEM (or Proton Exchange Membrane). The
electrolyte for this is a very thin polymer sheet. Unfortunately, this type can be
extremely expensive because it is required to have a platinum catalyst. A temperature
of eighty degrees celsius must also be reached. This fuel cell still resembles the basic
form. It requires hydrogen atoms which have been striped from their electrons, and
the electrons pass through the exterior circuit, which creates electricity. At the end, it
meets with air to create

Washington DC s area code was the same. What would happen if I searched for the
entire phone number? I had no idea this would save me so much time. Searching
the entire phone number on Google provided me with over 312,000 hits. Most of
these hits were related to people who had received phone calls from this exact
phone number (202) 391 0949 . Every person s opinion on the phone number was
negative. Some were confused by these phone calls, and others were aware of this

mentioned that the caller was a man who introduced himself as Special Agent Bill

police was on their way to their homes for having committed so and so crimes.
After reading all these comments, I recalled that I had also received a phone call

that the person on the other line was trying to perform Social Engineering.

Ukraine Case Study
In late 2013, an A.T.M. in Kiev started dispensing cash at seemingly random times
of day. No one had put in a card or touched a button. Cameras showed that the piles
of money had been swept up by customers who appeared lucky to be there at the
right moment. When a Russian cybersecurity firm, Kaspersky Lab, was called to
Ukraine to investigate, it discovered that the errant machine was the least of the banks

The bank s internal computers, used by employees who process daily transfers and

The industry consortium that alerts banks to malicious activity, the Financial Services
Information Sharing and Analysis Center, said in a statement that our members are
aware of this activity. We have disseminated intelligence on this attack to the
members, and that some briefings were also provided by law enforcement entities.
The American Bankers Association declined to comment, and an executive there,
Douglas Johnson, said the group would let the financial services center s statement
serve as the only comment. Investigators at Interpol said their digital crimes
specialists in Singapore were coordinating an investigation with law enforcement in
affected countries. In the Netherlands, the Dutch High Tech Crime Unit, a division of
the Dutch National Police that investigates some of the world s most advanced
financial cybercrime, has also been briefed.
The silence around the investigation appears motivated in part by the reluctance of
banks to concede that their systems were so easily penetrated, and in part by the fact
that the attacks appear to be continuing. The managing director of the Kaspersky

Katina Powell
The Louisville Men s Basketball program was expected to be one of the top teams
in the nation this upcoming season. However, details have come out about players
and recruits being allegedly involved in prostitution that was paid for by the coaching
staff. These accusations were initially brought to light in a recently released book,
authored by a womannamed by a woman named, Katina Powell. National media
outlets have picked up on the story and a thorough investigation by the NCAA and
the University of Louisville are both currently underway. The author, Powell, claims
she was the person who the coaching staff contacted in order to bring girls as a
source of entertainment for players/recruits, and for an additional fee, they could
have sex with them. Powell has records of text messages with one of the assistant
coaches, as well as pictures with current and former members of the... Show more

This report came out because the author wanted to pump up her book sales. Media
outlets are frenetical reporting on the investigation because college sports is a
lucrative business and people will watch/listen to their stories more, thus boosting
their ratings. The NCAA is fighting to preserve their control over college athletes
and keep their integrity and profits in tact. And lastly, if this story is true, the
reason the coaches at Louisville did this was to attract the best players in order to
win games, have higher attendance at games, and get more alumni support in grants
and donations. What the players/recruits were doing at Louisville is not much
different from what most college kids do, but they are being labeled as deviants
because of their status as elite athletes and because they are young black males. The
perspective from which you view this situation is what will determine if you think
the Louisville Men s Basketball program is deviant or

Comparative Film Review Paper
Rios Film Review 1
Comparative Film Review: London and New York London and New York, are two
of the top world cities. They play a major influence in the global economic system,
because of their position in the world system of finance and trade (Macionis and
Parrillo 2013, 8). London is a huge metropolis, with a heavily populated center and
adjacent communities which has a high degree of economic and social integration
(Macionis and Parrillo 2013, 6) London dominates southern England and covers
over 600 square miles, more than 8 million citizens and thirty bridges today. New
York is a megalopolis, which is when two or more major metropolitan areas extend
and intermingle to form a continuous urban complex (Macionis and Parrillo 2013, 6).

Like the Romans, the first thing the Dutch built was a canal with three bridges that
went across. This settlement was based on fur trade, which took place on the
southern tip of the island (Macionis and Parrillo 2013, 77). Neither city was
successful in the beginning but had to evolve to overcome the different challenges
they faced. The Thames River which made London strive, posed a great threat to
bursting its banks and destroying new developments. And New York s trading post
was operating at a loss. Each city had to strategize and come up with a new plan.
Aristotle provided an answer as to why people would group together and form
cities: People come together in cities for security; they remain there to live the
good life. This was and continues to be the goal of these prospering cities.
Similarly, London and New York leaders, build great walls to provide defense and
protection for their cities. A city wide wall made from stone took ten years to build,
with over a million stone blocks, 20 feet high and 9 feet thick at its base, this wall

was unsuccessful, the English conquered New Amsterdam by sea and as the newly

Cyanotic Newborn Journal Report
This week my preceptor, Rachel, was the nursery nurse. The duties included bathing
newborns, watching newborns in time the mother had to go off the unit for a
procedure, covering for breaks, and assessing newborns in the nursery that may
have some sort of difficulty compensating. Although I was not assigned to a specific
patient, I did help care for about 20 newborns by providing baths and two newborns
became cyanotic and our service was paged. In the case of the two cyanotic
newborns, rapid assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of therapy was required. Both
newborns were choking on their spit up and required suctioning, and a oxygen
saturation monitor was applied until oxygen level was within normal limits for
several minutes.
The bathing schedule was organized by age of the newborn, start with the oldest and
work your way to the youngest. This prioritization is done due to discharge time.

I was asked by every first time parent if the way I was bathing their baby would be
the way they bathed them at home. I had to provide teaching and explained that
they would be giving their infant a sponge bath at home until their umbilical cord
fell off. At the time it was permitted to provide an immersion bath because the cord
was still clamped and had not begun to dry. I felt my explanation was thorough and
short enough for the parents to retain and understand given their circumstance.
Rachel and I had great communication of how we were going to tackle all the baths

had to track Rachel on the unit and explain to her and apologize for the
inconvenience of my memory. She understood and comforted me that she had just
done the same thing and forgot the plan

Influenza Will Cause The Next Pandemic
Infectious diseases are constantly emerging and re emerging across the globe. These
diseases can transfer from person to person directly or indirectly; by skin, blood, and
or body secretions. It can also be transferred through contaminated food or water, and
air. According to Heymann, The ones with the most risk are airborne. (Senthilingam,
2015). Therefore, I believe Influenzawill cause the next pandemic. Reason being, the
flu has the ability to disseminate before a person s symptoms become visible. Unlike
Ebola and SARS, which are only contagious once symptoms emerge (Senthilingam,
2015).
Influenza viruses are significant human respiratory pathogens that cause both
seasonal, endemic infections and periodic, unpredictable pandemics (Taubenberger

The Laws And The Rules And Systems Set Out Within Act
Of...
Aim
The aim of this research is to present three important statutes related to Property
professionals and demonstrate how common law helps to interpret the rules and
systems set out in Acts of Parliament.
Introduction
In United Kingdom s legal system, Statute Law is a law which is written down
and codified into law. Statute begins as a bill which is either a proposal for a new
law or a proposal to amend an existing law. Statutes are also known as Acts of
Parliament (Elliot 2014).
Before becoming a formal bills, draft bills are introduced either to House of
Commons or House of Lords. Draft bills are published for consultation, this process
allows to examine and amend the text prior to formal introduction of bill to
Parliament. To become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There will be a vote to whether to approve suggested amendments (Elliot 2014).
Stage 5: Third Reading at this stage the amended bill is read in full. There will be
debate only if at least six of members request it. The decision will be made whether
bill to proceed. If the bill is successfully progressed through all stages it then passed
to the Alternative Chamber. If bill started in the House of Commons it is to proceed
to the House of Lords and vice versa. Any amendment made by alternative Chamber
should be passed to House of Origin for approval (Elliot 2014).
Stage 6: Royal Assent at this stage formal bill which successfully passed all
previous stages is introduced to Parliament for approval. This is formal procedure
where bill is signed by monarch and formally becomes a Statute. Generally date to
implementation of a new statue is commencing shortly after Royal Assent granted.
However in some Acts date for implementation may be some time after approval to
allow time to businesses or individuals to adopt the changes (Elliot 2014).
In addition to Statute Law there is a Common Law or Case Law, which helps to
interpret the Acts of Parliament. Case Law is based on the decisions made by High
Court and interprets the application of statutes. Judges create the Common Law by
delivering written judgements about the cases (Elliot 2014). In deciding a case, first

Erythropoiesis
Erythropoiesis starts with the HSC differentiating into committed erythroid
progenitors. Progenitor cells then differentiate into erythroid precursors, which
undergo terminal differentiation through different stages of erythroblastic maturation
and finally become a mature red cell (Fig 1a). In the human, large nucleated blood
cells are first formed in the yolk sac and some enucleate. During the second
gestational month, erythropoiesis moves to fetal liver, wherein smaller and
nonnucleated cells are produced. Then erythropoiesis gradually moves to the marrow
in postnatal phase. The developmentally earliest defined erythroid progenitor is the
burst forming unit erythroid (BFU E). It then develops into more mature erythroid
progenitor colony... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The proerythroblast is a large cell (12 20 О јm) with a dark blue cytoplasm and a large
nucleus; the chromatin is not condensed in this stage and contains one or more
prominent nucleoli (Higgs and Wood 2011). The cytoplasm contains ribosomes,
centrioles, a Golgi apparatus, few mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulums. These
cells divide into smaller (10 16 О јm) basophilic erythroblasts which also have dark
blue cytoplasm and a large nucleus but the chromatin is started to condense in this
stage of maturation which can be observed near the nuclear membrane. These cells
then divide into polychromatic erythroblasts (10 12 О јm), which are known for its
pink cytoplasm and condensed nuclei. Orthochromatic erythroblasts are non dividing
cells with completely condensed pyknotic nuclei. Reticulocytes are easily recognized

How Did Andrew Carnegie Change The Economy
As well as J.P. Morgan, Andrew Carnegie was certainly another individual who
assumed great leadership and transformed the ways of the U.S. economy during the
Gilded Age. He concentrated his works on the Steel industry. He helped the United
States switch from an agricultural and commercial nation to the greatest industrial
nation in the world. A document published by Gale: Cengage Learning even stated,
In years of recession and depression he kept running his plants, undercutting
competitors, and assuring employment for his workers. Obviously, he was a strong
competitor among the entrepreneurs of the time. He kept his prices low while also
expanding markets for steelproducts. In fact, he established the J. Edgar Thomson
Steel Works, which later became the Carnegie Steel Company.... Show more content

In addition, Carnegie s company built the first steel plants in the United States that
used the Bessemer steel making process, a revolutionary industrial development
that also produced steel from iron cheaply and efficiently. (Hendrick 5). However,
like J.P. Morgan, Carnegie, too, eliminated competition by buying other companies.
He also used a method, known as vertical combination. This meant that he bought
firms that were interdependent for the supply of raw materials for processing, like
railroad companies and iron mines. By owning these businesses, Carnegie was
able to reduce his costs and produce steel cheaper. As Carnegie s methods made the
manufacturing of steel faster, easier and inexpensive, he was considered a steel
magnate. He created a steel empire by taking ownership or factories, raw materials
and transportation infrastructure involved in steel making in order to eliminate any
inefficiencies that would keep him from profiting as much as he could. However,
while he put so much effort into keeping his costs down, he did not keep his workers
best interest at heart. By supplying his products at a lower cost than his competitors,
he overworked and

Supporting Interactive System Testing With Interaction...
Supporting Interactive System Testing with
Interaction Sequences
Jessica Turner
Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, University of Waikato
August 13, 2015
1 Research Topic
An interactive system is a piece of software or a device which requires human input.
It consists of a user interface which the user interacts with to access the underlying
functions, described formally in code. This allows the user to easily manipulate the
system in order to complete some task. An important subset of interactive systems is
safety critical interactive systems (a system in which errors can lead to injury or even
death to the user). Unfortunately, the testing of these systems is currently inadequate,
resulting in serious harm or even fatalities (see [1] [2]).
A test is dened in the Oxford Dictionary as: A procedure intended to establish the
quality, performance, or reliability of something, especially before it is taken into
widespread use ; [3]. The purpose of interactive system testing is not only to ensure
that the system does what it is expected to, but also to identify problems within the
current version of the system. The resolution of these problems will help to establish
the quality, performance and/or reliability [3] of the system and help to avoid future
incidents.
In this research we propose using interaction sequences as an abstraction of the
system under test to support the testing process. An interaction sequence is the series
of steps a user can take to perform a

The Relationship Between Parent And Family
Parent s: The first step to ensuring your child s safety outside of the home is
establishing a healthy family dynamic based around mutual trust and reliance on each
other, to an extent. When you and your child have a relationship between yourselves
that is healthy, you ensure that your child feels safe in the place that matters most; in
their home. When a childfeels safe in their home, among their family, then they are
more likely to feel the can communicate when there is something happening in their
lives outside the home that is bothering them or can prove harmful. Without this
healthy dynamic, your child may withhold important information from you that could
end up causing a drastic change in your child s wellbeing.
As important as open communication is between parent and child, it is equally as
important to set a solid set of rules for your child to follow. For example, younger
children may not be allowed to cross the street or leave the yard without an adult with
them. Without solid rules for children to follow, then the relationship between child
and parent becomes too lax, and there is no sense of respect of child to parent.
Without a sense of mutual respect between parent and child, the child will then feel
that their parent has no knowledge of what is best for them; even though the rules
their parent may try to enforce rules that are in their best interest to follow.
As far as setting rules and punishments for your child, the ramifications should evolve
as the

Educational Benefits And Suitability Of The Classroom
Among four instructional design models presented in this module, please select two
and discuss the educational benefits/suitability of those two models for your teaching.
The debate about instruction largely hinges on how students learn and what degree of
structure and support they need to acquire important skills and knowledge. according
to Archer, L.A, Hughes, C.A. (2011)
Hence, the purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast two instructional models,
namely Project Based Learning (PBL) and Explicit Instruction (EI) and discuss the
educational benefits/suitability of these two models to the teaching of mathematics
in high school.
What are the main objectives or learning outcomes this particular instructional design
model aim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will achieve this by spending an extended period of time in groups investigating
and finding the necessary information required to effectively answer the challenging
issue or problem. So though both models seek to assist students to learn and engage
in their learning the processes/steps in which they will engage in to achieve this
outcome differ immensely.
Does this instructional design model provide clear directions for teachers to select,
structure, and sequence learning activities?
Explicit Instruction does indeed provide clear directions for teachers to select,
structure, and sequence learning activities as illustrated by the range of instructional
behaviours that characterise an explicit approach to teaching students
Researchers such as Swanson (1995) have identified a set of steps that teachers need
to concentrate on so that genuine explicit teaching takes place.
These include:
1.Focus instruction on critical content.
2.Sequence skills logically
3.Break down complex skills and strategies into smaller instructional units. mastered,
units are synthesized (i.e., practiced as a whole).
4.Design organised and focused lessons.
5.Begin lessons with a clear statement of the lesson s goals and your expectations.
6.Review prior skills and knowledge before beginning instruction
7.Provide step by step demonstrations.

Online Gambling On North American Shores
Article 4 PlayOLG gets better with age
It went down as one of the controversial rulings in Canadian history, when
government proposals to approve online gambling in Ontario were passed. While not
affecting the rest of the world directly, it would prove be a major step with regards to
legalising online gambling on North American shores. The legislation still has it
detractors, as some don t like the idea of there being legal gambling available within
the home, but the records show that people are warming up to the idea. Proving to
be both beneficial to punters and the tax office, PlayOLG is finally reaping the
rewards of its drawn out development process.
The site itself was in development for quite some time by online casino standards, but
has seemingly got better as time went on. The casino features games from
developers Boss Media, Bally Technologies, and world renowned IGT, along with a
small selection of titles from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Canadian
lottery tickets can also be purchased directly through PlayOLG too. The reason for
why the casino took so long to get up and running was because it was being selective
in the location base and what technologies would fit in with government operated
gambling standards. Since its inception players have shown their support by
registering in high numbers, while revenue figures show that the casino was worth
the wait and it is only getting better with age.
Stepping away from the game selection PlayOLG has

Importance Of My Career In College
College is not for everyone; however, I always knew that I wanted to obtain a
bachelor s degree from a four year institution. From being a graduating high school
senior to a graduating college senior, throughout the years I have significantly
grown intellectually, socially, professionally, and academically. I have learned a
lot through trial and error from my experiences as an undergraduate student. There
are things I wish someone would have told me before going into college, but I
believe that my college career so far has helped me develop into a more
professional, open minded, and confident individual. I feel as though I am ready to
face any obstacle that comes my way after graduation and have gained skills that
will prepare me for my career aspirations and future endeavors.
As a high school senior, I knew that college was going to be challenging, I would
develop new skills, and build new relationships. I thought that going to class and
doing your work would basically be all I needed to succeed in college. I was
surprised to find that there was more to college than just books and classwork. I
have never been a very social person, but I wish someone would have told me to
get involved on campus early on in my undergraduate career and that it is okay not
to have all of the answers. As a freshman, my major was undecided because I had so
many career options that I wanted to explore. Getting involved with different clubs
and organizations really helped me to narrow my choices

Ancient Babylonia
When studying Ancient Babylonia it is notably important to look at these factors:
daily life, religion, people, society, government and economy so we can determine
the development of the civilization and how it is similar to the way we live today.
The Babylonian Empire is unique because their government was run by a law
known as the Code of Hammurabi similarly are government is run by numerous
laws. Their knowledge of science and astrology is intriguing due to the fact that they
were the first civilization to form the basis of the sixteen month of thirty days
calendar, their discovery of the calendar lend us to the calendars we have today. In
addition to government, science and astrology their economy was very modern and
played an immense... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also had a list of magical stones to develop their knowledge of mineralogy.
Map mating was a very known science to the Babylonians most of them were
experienced in it which made them more aware of there surrounding. Babylonians
drew maps of local areas such as field plans, estates plans, grounds plants of
temples and houses as well as maps of more distant regions such as larger areas:
districts and towns. Their maps were drawn mostly in straight lines, with little
attention to scale, angles and orientation. Most of the sciences they began to study
and explore are the same sciences that we are going into today. The Babylonians
have built the foundation for us and we used that and are building the rest. br br
Mathematics was just as important to the Babylonian as it is to us. They however
calculated things entirely different from us. A prime example of this is their
number system which had two disadvantages: (1) it was confusing and, therefore,
not used in many daily economic activities (2) there was no special sign for zero,
to separate the different units, so they would leave two blank spaces for zero or by
using a special sign that indicated a space between two words. Babylonian
mathematicians developed a mastery of algebraic skill, even though there was no
graphic symbol for the unknown. Instead they invented a method called false value.

The Importance Of Communicating And People
Understand...
Communication has always been a up and down aspect in my life. I believe
communicating is the purpose of receiving and giving information to others, but I
also believe that communicating is a way of expressing yourself to the rest of the
world. I do understand that others have greater levels of communicating and people
understand communicationdifferently. I have experienced both of these aspects of
communication in groups I have been part of. Personally, I prefer to work in a
group setting rather than as an individual. I like the support, experiences, and even
friendships that evolve from group work. I believe that group communication
helps to create a memorable and positive outcome for the task rather than doing it
independently. I have been apart of many groups throughout my high school and
college years and I have enjoyed and learned many different things from each one.
One group in particular in which I learned a lot and was able to gain many skills
was from my core group . I was a New Student Orientation Assistant (NSOA) when
entering my sophomore year at Eastern. NSOAs assist the new students with their
transition to Eastern. There were over 150 of us students that were divided into core
groups. I was with my core group for five days and with them throughout those days
for more than 12 hours. Through those long training days, we learned a lot about one
another. As a group, we bonded and were able to successfully complete the First Four
training and orientation.

Protagonists Essay
Protagonists
The protagonists in The Yellow Wallpaper , The Storm , and Eveline all seem to
have similarities in their character. They are all women that have lived in an era in
which women are seen as nothing. This woman had no identity in this world because
they were told what to do by men. Human nature is also another important element
that these women have in common.
Calixta from The Storm is a married woman with a family. She is living in a time
period in which woman have no control in what goes on in their life. The husband

In the short story Eveline this young girl has lived with her father al her life. So
basically she is another victim in this male dominated society. She meets this guy
and falls in love with him and sees that she can maybe get married and leave her
fathers side once in for all. So she faces the decision which will either make her life
wonderful or horrendous. She must choose weather to leave with her fiancГ© to
Buenos Aires or to stay at her father s side in Ireland. Here again we see the
domination of the male species trying to control the woman once again. Joyce says
She had consented to go away, to leave her home (890). In the long run Eveline
made a wise choice in staying with her father. He will always be there for her and
never leave her even if she does something really shocking.
All these women where in a male dominate society. They had assigned roles which
they had to do and weren t allowed to get into anything else. These women in this
era where forced to do whatever they were told. However, Calixta, Eveline and the
protagonist from The Yellow Wallpaper , seemed to get away murder. Calixta was
unfaithful; Eveline made a choice which affected the rest of her life and the

Field Reflection Essay
Before coming to the field exercise I was so busy with other things that I honestly
didn t think much about it. At some of my old churches I was in sort of leadership
so we would go to the other people houses in the church and would pray for each
other. I thought that this experience would be similar to that. In those times we
would eat and then fellowship and while everyone was there we would pray for the
people who needed or asked for prayer. I expected that this experience would be
similar to that one in which we would pray for people and then see what was
happening. I did not expect much talking since I knew a lot of people from my
very introverted class was going to be there. Me personally was having such a
busy week that I knew as soon as I felt a strong presences from the Lord it was
going to be a good time. The only thing I felt nervous about going was that I had
never gotten something from the Lord that I could really tell was from the Lord. It
mostly feels like what I think or goes along with something that I had experienced
so I am never really sure if I should say anything or not. During the couple of hours
that we were at the professor s house it was a very laid back setting and we all just
sat around and talked and prayed. To start everything off the professor asked if
anyone needed prayer and then things just went from there. During the experience
there was no super spiritual ritual or thing we had to do we just had to show up be
ourselves and listen to what

Good Communication Is Effective Communication
Good communication is effective communication; it provides direction, a clear goal,
and encourages the flow of ideas. Successful communication is achieved through a
variety of methods, but most importantly, it begins with a foundation of security and
trust within the team. Successful Communication
Over the past few weeks my group has been using our group discussion board as our
primary method of communication. Since beginning our power point project we
have been posting updates, questions and simple check ins to see how each member
of the group is coming along with their portion of the PowerPoint assignment. Our
key to success has been because of our communication; this is especially important
because we are a virtual group. We touch base with each other regularly for multiple
reasons, the first being the need to establish a relationship.
In contrast to teams who meet face to face on a regular basis, we cannot pick up on
non verbal clues that are expressed through body language, nor are we able to
establish an emotional connection with one another; with that being said, we must
maintain regular contact in order to build a rapport. Secondly, regular communication
allowed us to report progress and drawbacks that may hinder our success. Moreover,
scheduling regular periods of communication enforced accountability by instituting
periodic milestones of progress.
In previous experiences I have had working in collaborative groups, in regard to the
importance of communication,

Environmental effects on the impact of moderate exercise...
Environmental effects on the impact of moderate exercise on mood state
The link between exercise and its effects on peoples mood state has long been
questioned. Only recently has evidence been obtained supporting this proposed claim.
Studies contributed by Berger and Motl assert that there is a strong consensus that
mood enhancement is benefitted by physical activity . Hansen, Steven and Coast also
develop the idea that Psychical activity can play a key role in enhancing Mood by

A study done by Hansen, Stevens and Coast found that twenty one participants aged
20 26 taking part noted increases in Vigour and Total Mood and a decrease in
Confusion. To account for any gender differential 14 females and 7 males took part.
The participants did a total of four tests. The first test involved sitting for 30 minutes.
The second test involved a warmup on an exercise bike. The participants cycled for
10 minutes and raise their heart rate (HR) to 60% of their VO2 max (maximum
oxygen consumption). Test 3 involved cycling for 20 minutes while raising their
HR to 60% VO2max. Test 4 lasted for 30 minutes while the participants again
raised their HR to 60% VO2max. Following each test the participants had a 10
minute cool down cycle. Each participant filled a Physical Activity Readiness
Questionnaire (PAR Q) on the Friday before the test. Before exercising a Profile of
Mood State (POMS) was taken and than succeeding the 10 minute cool down the
POMS was taken again to record any change in mood state. Research conducted by
Dyer and Crouch (1988) found that mood is most positive 15 20 minutes after
exercise and even after 30 minutes residual effects can be noted.

Joyce White Interview Paper
The chosen candidate to be interviewed for this assignment was Joyce White, the
Director of Volunteer Services at Mayo Clinic, Florida Campus. She has held that
position for eleven years and has thoroughly enjoyed her experience there so far.
Before her position as the Director of Volunteer services, she was what was called a
Charge Nurse. Today the position is called Team Lead of Nursing Units. Before that
she was a stay at home mom and directed volunteerwork at a church through the years
as it grew. Joyce White studied at Florida State College at Jacksonville and at
Jacksonville University for her bachelor s and her master s degree. When Joyce White
first started her position, she inherited the program from a woman who managed
about one hundred active volunteers. Joyce White was told that the volunteer
department needed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joyce White had to be extremely patient with her because she saw that the
employee did not understand what the issue was. Then the employee turned sixty,
so Joyce White could not terminate her because of Human Resources. Joyce White
said that she was no the kind of person to just fire someone because she said if she
saw a gleam of hope, she would keep working with him or her. Joyce White kept
working with the employee until they decided to retire early. Joyce White s
favorite aspect of her job is engaging and interacting with the volunteers. She loves
making rounds every day to visit them. Her least favorite part of her job is when
she has to tangle with other departments who do not always listen. For example, a
new building will start construction soon in the back of one of the parking lots and
that means that there will need to be patient parking close to the building. This will
cause volunteer parking to be extremely difficult and far away from their

The Perfect Body Image. The Horrific Things That Females
the perfect body image. The horrific things that females put themselves through to
lose weight is heartbreaking. Not only are bulimia sufferers suffering from
vomiting but they suffer from stomach cramps, bags under their eyes, and hair
loss. It has also been confirmed that celebrities have also experienced bulimia.
Females look up to these females just like they look up to females in the spotlight
for beauty standards, however these celebrities brush off the disease. Sacker
mentioned that celebrities appearing on talk shows make it sound as if getting over
an eating disorder is quick and easy, but the reality is very different (167). Binge

Also, in the year 1996 to 1998 numbers for enhancement surgeries doubled. A
tremendous way to describe cosmetic surgery would be human flourishing or
artificial beauty. Bad news about cosmetic surgery is that it can become addicting.
Once, a female with self image concern lays money to cosmetic surgery, they will
continue to come back for more and more. People in the United States are spending
around 12 billion dollars on cosmetic surgeries. Celebrities and models fall under a
double standard when it comes to cosmetic surgeries because majority of them
undergo them, however they are promoting a beauty standard and stereotype that
comes off as being natural.
In order, to see a change in eating disorders, a decrease in plastic surgery numbers,
stereotypes, and this ideal beauty standard there are drastic changes that need to be
done. First, not everyone is born perfect and the reality of having a perfect body is
nonrealistic. Sacker defines perfectionism as a powerful, sometimes irrational, urge
to do everything exactly right is a personality trait that s common among people with
eating disorders (50). The media is promoting a beauty standard that comes across as
ideal/perfect/right, however nobody meets this perfection naturally. Thus, being said
females plant this seed of perfection in their brain due to the media. In order, for
results the media needs to start introducing plus size models, showing more

The Position Of Women In The Ancient World Have Always
The position of women in the ancient world have always been portrayed in a bad
light. Women were thought to be manipulative, submissive, and weak compared to
men. These roles of women have been handed down history. Women bought into
this because it was a way for them to gain power. Power in the ancient world was a
means for securing a safe life for women and their family. Women would manipulate
others in order to gain power for their sons and husbands. The reason for this was
because if their male relative was associated with power, they too would have power
and security. The portrayal of witches fed into the idea that women were manipulative
and only sought to gain power. Witches transgressed traditional ideas of femininity.

In book 10 of Homer s Odyssey, he describes Circe as being a fail locked women
who lived on the island of Aaia. When Odysseus and his men arrive on the island,
they encounter Circe and her home. Homer describes the house of Circe as built
with polished stones, in a sheltered place. Around it were wolves of the mountain
and lions, which Circe herself had enchanted, for she had given them evil drugs (
Ogden 95). The enchanting of the wolves around Circe s home suggests that she
inherited the powers of Hecate. Hecate, too, was associated with animals like
wolves and dogs. Circe was also powerful enough to turn Odysseus men into pigs.
She did this by blending baleful drugs into the food, so that they should forget their
homeland completely. But when she had given it to them and they had drunk it
down, she immediately struck them with her wand and shut them into pigsties
(Ogden 95). Circe, just like Hecate, had the power to bring the dead back to life in
order to learn about things. Circe also went by the name pharmakeia, which is the
greek word for witchcraft and the act of making drugs. Therefore, it would only
make sense that Circe had gained all the powers and qualities of Hecate because she
was her daughter. Medea too attributed her magical powers from Hecate. Most of

Becoming A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Colorado s requirements to attain licensure is needed to learn more about these
requirements. Once you have researched your state s statutes and regulations,
requirements of education, practicum and internship, and staying in good standing as
a counselor, you are ready to consider a career as a professional counselor. A LPC is
a futuristic goal that can be achieved once important components are considered.

not use the term licensed , certified , clinical , state approved , or any other term or
abbreviation that would falsely give the impression that the psychotherapist or the
service that is being provided is recommended by the state. (section 3)
By learning more on your states requirements you can make an informed decision on

there is much to consider when making the decision to become a LCP, an informed

Regulate Gun Ownership
In a considerable amount of societies, gun ownership is considered to be a
fundamental citizen right while in the majority of others it s a highly restricted one.
As I see it, gun ownership should and must be highly restricted and regulated.
First and foremost, the mere presence of a gun will most likely than not make a
conflict more violent. If and when given the choice, the situation will more likely
turn sour if someone involves a gun. To be precise, a woman s risk of being
murdered increases 500% if a gun is present during a domestic dispute. Another key
thing to remember is that as a matter of fact guns are rarely used in self defence.
Not to mention that, statistically, not only armed civilians are unlikely to stop crimes,
but, what s more, are more likely to make a dangerous situation more deadly. With
gun regulation, gun homicide and suicide will certainly lower. ... Show more content

Many people enjoy riding roller coasters or skydiving because they enjoy the thrill,
but there is no thrill like hunting. The rush of seeing the majestic beasts glide through
the woods is an experience that few know and many never experience. The
adrenaline pushes of pulling the trigger and seeing the arrow fly in slow motionas it

huntingis not easy and that can t be seen more through my first experience crossbow

Shooting a deer is not the only great part of hunting, breathing in the fresh air filled
with the scent of oak trees and green grass is so refreshing that few things can rival
it, but at the time I was not focused on my surroundings. . As usual, I was walking
up to my stand at about three o clock. My stand sits cockeyed in the corner of my
woods next to a corn field. As I walked down the worn path to my secret little spot,
I was not expecting the scare that I was about to endure. It was the moment I broke
that twig, and CRASH! Three feet away, the largest deer I had ever seen tore its
way through the woods, and out of sight. The truth be told, it was probably just as
scared as I was, but I stood there almost in shock. It took me a full five minutes
before I started to head for my stand again, and my heart was still pumping. I kicked
myself the whole way there that I had not seen him first and that I had let him get
away, but I finally arrived at my stand and ascended

NoteAbilityPro is a music notation software editor developed by Hamel. This

2.2.2Antescofo
Antescofo is a score following system that enables to code interactions between the
instrumental parts and the computer generated parts by providing a proprietary
programming language [Giavitto, Cont and Echeveste, 2015]. Antescofo stands for
anticipatory synchronization and control of interactive parameters in computer
music, and its core is a score following system based on Hidden Markov Models
(HMM) with some variants to be able to model time changes which are one of the
major drawbacks of the HMM algorithm.
The Antescofo score following core performs tracking of audio events and triggers
some customized actions written in a text based programming descriptor. In
Antescofo, the text based representation of computer generated events follows a
Score Language design pattern, which has a long tradition in computer music since
the debut of Mathews MUSIC N languages in the late 60 s [ Mathews, Miller, Moore,
Pierce, and Risset, 1969 ], but Antescofo extends the concept to a reactive language,
meaning that customized actions responds to events. The current Antescofo public
version runs as a patch extension of Max/Msp (or PureData).
Antescofo is an event based customizable score following, accordingly its most
important programming entities in Antescofo language are events and actions

to get their child vaccinated. The majority of parents refuse to follow the vaccination

to receive all vaccinations. Some even want their children to only receive a certain

The Current Administration s Theory Of International...
Over the last several decades the United States of America has had the seat of
leadership on the world stage. During this time different US Administrations have
viewed the world through changing times and circumstances, and through the lens of
several different theories of international relations. The current Administration s
foreign policy positions, articulated by the President himself during his recent West
Point commencement address as well as the Administration s self described pivot, or
rebalance to a larger focus on Asia, show a dominant reliance on the Liberalism
theory of International Relations. This paper will analyze the current Administration
s Liberalism theory by looking at arguments put forth by the President during his
speeches, explain the Administration s assertions on the importance of international
institutions, and describe how the pivot to Asia is good for the country. Finally, this
paper will make some recommendations for changes to the current Administration s
foreign policy, based upon actions and theories that previous Administrations have
used effectively. In his West Point Commencement Address the President asserted
two points. The first is that technology and globalization has put power once reserved
for states in the hands of individuals raising the capacity of terrorists to do harm.
Additionally, he argued that the most direct threat to America at home and abroad
remains terrorism. These are both key concepts of the

Sacrificial Killer Essay
The ten most common traits among serial killers are as follows: alcohol and
substance abuse, psychological abuse during childhood, sexually stressful events
in childhood, bed wetting, growing up lonely and isolated, fantasies, preferring
auto erotic activities, developing voyeurism and fetishism in adulthood, and
physical injuries. There are four main types of serial killers. Hedonistic thrill/rush;
lust/sexual pleasure; or gain (financial). Power/Control satisfaction of having
complete control; sex; main motive is to gain power. Mission Oriented seek
revenge; eliminate a specific group or person; ridding the world ; generally not

and boys, raped them, and dismembered them. He had necrophilia and was also a

Resourcing Talent
Talent Planning in Organisations CIPD, 2012 defines resourcing and talent planning
as Ensuring that the organisation is able to identify and attract key people with the
capability to create competitive advantage and that it actively manages an appropriate
balance of resource to meet changing needs, fulfilling the short and long term
ambitions of the organisation strategy. There are many different factors that affect
organisation s approach to attracting talent. One factor is an expansion of the
organisation. When an organisation expands, planning is vital as they do not want to

Agencies are often used to employ temporary staff. A benefit of using employment
agencies is that they are able to recruit people quickly as they already have many
people looking for work on their books and they can sift out suitable applicants
with the necessary qualifications or experience easily without the organisation
having to look through many CV s or application forms. A less common way of
recruiting is through specialist selection consultants. This way is mostly used to
recruit people into higher level specialist roles which can be often hard to recruit.
The benefit of using a consultant to recruit is similar to that of an employment
agency except that the calibre of the people that consultants deal with is those of
more specialist roles which are hard to recruit to. After advertising a position the
next step is the selection process. After shortlisting suitable candidates for the
vacancy the organisation can use various selection methods to find the right person
for the vacancy. The most common selection process is an interview. The interview
is a chance for the applicant to sell themselves and for the organisation to learn
more about the applicant as the information on application forms and CV s are
limited. A benefit of interviewing is to see how the applicant responds under
pressure and on the spot. Another selection process is assessment centres. These are
often a full day of tests and activities designed to test the skills and abilities of

Sherlock Holmes Double Deduction Essay
To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention
her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of
her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. All
emotions, and that one particularly, were abhorrent to his cold, precise but
admirably balanced mind. He was, I take it, the most perfect reasoning and
observing machine that the world has seen, but as a lover he would have placed
himself in a false position. He never spoke of the softer passions, save with a gibe

The Effects of Power on Responsibility Essay
The Effects of Power on Responsibility
Power and responsibility have a complex relationship that is connected by factors
such as a person s morals and ethics, personality, and under what conditions the
person was raised. In a world where power can be found in many forms and in
many places, the use and abuse of power can be seen regularly. Power is not just
being the CEO of a fortune five hundred company, or being an elected political

He simply did not have the power to start a foundation for cancer. But once he
gained the power, it gave him a means to the end. Often we have ideas that would
show great amounts of responsibility, but simply cannot put them into action
because we do not have power, and in this way power has a great effect on
responsibility. Power does not always change a person s morals or responsibility, it
just gives them the opportunity to achieve greater things that they may not have been
able to accomplish before they gained their power.
An increase in responsibility will change a person s use of power because they
may do things for the good of other people that are not necessarily looking out for
themselves. In the case of Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich, his level of responsibility
was increased when he became the man in charge of a squad of marines. Many
people believe that his actions were crimes against humanity, but in his situation he

Synthesis And Characterization Of Nanodiamonds Is...
History The attempt for synthetic diamond was began in late 1800 with some
unclarified reports of synthesis. Henri Mossain, a French chemist has done early
works on synthetic diamonds by using electric arc discharge. Later Sir Charles
Algeornon Passons tried to reproduce Moissan s method. But later passon revealed
that the diamonds produced by him were likely synthetic spinel [1, 2]. In 1954,
H.Tracy Hall s group used the belt press method and reported reproducible synthetic
diamond. Nanodiamond films, in the recent years, have created its arena in research
field due to their ultimate unique properties like high hardness, fuel cells, biosensor
chemical inertness, excellent thermal conductivity optical transparency. In this paper,
the synthesis characterization of nanodiamonds is explained by ultra fast laser
ablation technique [3].
Structure
Diamond has a Face centered cubic structure. This arrangement makes the diamond
toughest, high thermal conductor gives optical diversion properties. The substitution
of carbon with boron in diamond lattice improves the electron m0obility in the
structure. Nanodiamonds are smoother than microcrystalline diamond which ranges
between 10 100nm. Nanodiamonds are often termed as cauliflower or ballas
diamond. They contain large number of grain boundaries with impurities of graphite.
Even ultra naocrystalline diamonds have a grain size of 2 1nm [4].

Similarities Between Death Of A Salesman And The Tempest

dream his entire life. Meanwhile, Willy is manipulating his sons Biff and Happy
to try to make them love him more and see the false perspective in reality. Happy
manipulates the truth to create a more favorable reality for himself. Biff grew up
believing that he was not bound by social rules or expectations. Biff is different
from Willy because he finally accepts and embraces the fact that he has been living
a lie all of his life. Happy on the other hand, is similar to Willy in two different
