ELECTRIC CHARGE AND ELECTRIC CURRENT Presented by, M.Ramya 1122119BD128 Ph ysical Science

Electric Charge Teacher defines electric charge as electric charge is the basic property of matter that cause objects to attract or repel each other. Like charge – repel Unlike charge – attract It is measured in coloumb (c)

Electric Current When the charged object is provided with a conducting path, electrons start to flow through the path from higher potential to lower potential. That is, an electric current is formed by moving electrons. It is measured using device “ Ammeter”.

Direction of Current The movement of positive charge are called “conventional current”. The flow of electrons is termed as “electron current”. I = q/t SI unit is Ampere ( A )

Electric circuit The path through which electrons flow from one terminal to another terminal of source is called electric circuit. Types of circuit * Series circuit * Parallel circuit

Series circuit In series, component are connected one after another in a single loop. There is one pathway through which electric current flow. The current in each point of the circuit is same.

Parallel circuit In parallel, the components are connected to the emf source in two or more loops. There is more than one pathway. The sum of the individual current in each branches is equal to main current.
