The project has been made in a group on Emergency Lighting System by college students of the second year at a National Institute. An emergency light is a battery-backed lighting device that switches on automatically when a building experiences a power outage. Emergency lights are standard in new commercial and high occupancy residential buildings, such as college dormitories, apartments, and hotels. The ppt has more information on the subject.

EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEM Presented by: Hari Krishnan (2019/B/26) Sai Kalyan (2019/B/21) Shalvee Meshram (2019/B/09)
Introduction
What ? Why ? How? A System used to maintain the lighting in a possible failure of the normal energy source. S tops the user from being into a difficult situation because of unexpected darkness and helps the user to get access to make an instantaneous emergency light. Emergency lights are connected to the electrical supply of the building. Each light has its own circuit. These lights include a battery so that it works like a backup power supply once the building loses its power supply.
that part of an emergency lighting system provided to enable normal activities to continue substantially unchanged. that part of an emergency lighting system that provides illumination for the safety of people leaving a location or attempting to terminate a potentially dangerous process beforehand. that provides illumination for the safety of people involved in a potentially dangerous process or situation and to enable proper shut-down procedures for the safety of the operator and other occupants of the premises. ensures that there is sufficient illumination to allow the occupants of a building to reach a place where an escape route can be identified . identifies the escape route and keeps itsufficiently lit. This includes illuminated fire exit signs but alsoemergency lighting such as emergency lighting bulkheads
Journey of Emergency Lights Earliest Models Incandescent light bulbs / Battery backups using lead-acid battery to store 120- volt charge (huge, dim) Modern Models High Intensity LED / Halogen bulbs – with 6-12 volts ( high-lumen, wide-coverage, long-lasting )
DESIGNING: The required components (with specifications) of the 6v emergency light circuit diagram mainly include : SCR -1 Resistor - 3 Capacitor - 3 Battery 6V Centre-tapped rectifier Lamp Diodes -3
Procedure: The emergency light can be designed as following.
Connect the circuit on the breadboard as per the diagram shown using the above components.
The design of this circuit is very easy so that it can be arranged in a little box. As a power source, a 6V small battery is used to provide the supply to the circuit. HOW DOES IT WORKS ? Initially the input AC(230V) supply is stepped down to 6-0-6V by step down transformer. The full wave rectifier(D1&D2) gives the 6V DC supply . It keeps the lamp in ON state. Also another current flows through D3 & Resistor R3 this current charges the battery. When AC power supply is OFF , the SCR cathode voltage decreases. Due to battery voltage decreases. Due to battery potential and positive gate pulse SCR turns ON . When this battery potential is applied across lamp the lamp will gets ON .
More details…… Type of Power Supply used: Self-Contained – Single Point OR Battery Source Mode of Operation: Maintained or non-maintained is the principal which is decided by the use of the premises. Maintained emergency luminaire Non-maintained emergency luminaire
Applications: Used as emergency lamps (in order to keep away from unexpected power failures) in: buildings homes workplaces study rooms U sed in several industries
