Introduction Emotional intelligence or EI is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, and those of the people around you. People with a high degree of emotional intelligence know what they're feeling, what their emotions mean, and how these emotions can affect other people.

Overview 01 Emotional intelligence helps you build stronger relationships, succeed at school and work, and achieve your career and personal goals. It can also help you to connect with your feelings, turn intention into action, and make informed decisions about what matters most to you.

Emotional intelligence is commonly defined by four attributes: 01 Self-management 02 03 Social awareness 04 Relationship management Self-awareness

If we focus on human beings for a moment, we can concentrate on these three main areas in our examination of the significance of emotion: Emotion as a tool for communication 1 2 3 Emotion as something important in social skills Emotion expressed by non-verbal communication

Conclusion of part 1 The point here is to understand why emotional intelligence is so important, and the key to answering that question lies in examining how human beings use emotion.

— Peter Drucker “The most important thing in communication is to hear what is not said”

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AS A KEY TO COMMUNICATION Emotional intelligence is the key to effective communication and there is no denying the fact that the two are intricately intertwined. Emotional intelligence is an essential condition for any kind of effective communication to materialize.

Human beings are not computers.

People can connect with each other and perform a common activity together. Each individual's social relationships are formed and operated. Human personality is also formed and developed through communication.

A study of human behavior reveals that people often do things for reasons that are different perhaps than what the surface function may appear to be. Examining humanbehavior constantly produces examples of human beings behaving for reasonsthat are not always obvious.

The main purposes of communication is a connection with one or moremembers of a social group, than the relevance of emotional intelligence in thissetting becomes clear . EI is a tool for a thought, idea, or experience to be transmitted from one member to another, or at least that seems to be the superficial reason .

Emotional intelligence combined with building effective communication skills enables for improved relationships with co-workers, your manager, customers and others within the organization . EI is a tool for a thought, idea, or experience to be transmitted from one member to another, or at least that seems to be the superficial reason .

Emotional intelligence is about interpersonal s avvy – relating well to all types of individuals, establishing relationships and building rapport to achieve goals, using diplomacy and tact to solve problems and resolve conflicts. EI is a tool for a thought, idea, or experience to be transmitted from one member to another, or at least that seems to be the superficial reason .

Conclusione of part 3 After all, it is essential to improve social skills such as communication, persuasion, and influencing skills and emotional intelligence will be the foundation that helps you do that.

NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION Huỳnh Thị Bích Trâm

E motion and emotional sensitivity serve a clear purpose in verbal communication and social skills, but emotional awareness is also important in the communication that we do as human beings that does not involve words . Non-verbal communication is one of those areas that often gets overlooked because it is difficult to study.

This is not a special characteristic of people, but a feature of primates . M ost of the communication that human beings do is non- verbal.

Types of non-verbal communication Body language Movement Posture Eye contact 1 2 3 4

Conclusion of part 4 The role of emotional intelligence here is that good EI skills require an excellent sensitivity to non-verbal cues. Recall that we mentioned that in some definitions of empathy, accuracy is a prominent part of the definition. This is not only true of empathy but EI in general. Non-verbal cues allow you to accurately gauge someone’s emotional state.

CASE STUDY - Talk and listen to that friend’s stories and share to understand what they are talking about. - Go straight to the main topic because introverts hate headless conversations. - Time alone is important to introverts' health and well-being.
