I remembered the first time I was introduced to one of Miyazaki s most prominent
animation film, Spirited Away (2001). The film absolutely captured the essence of
what a fantasy world should be. I was mesmerized by the characters, the style, the
animation movement and the whole entire world. It was as if the world probably
existed somewhere, hidden from the reality we live in. I was hooked with
Miyazaki s work since then. The influences of Miyazaki s work has driven me to
follow my dream as an animator. I realized that the reason why I love most of
Miyazaki s work is because of his in depth characters development. He managed to
give life to the characters he created hence, making the viewer more connected with
the story he directed. For my thesis, I will analyze how Miyazaki portrays female
characters in his movies. The female character that I would analyze are from
Miyazaki s film entitled Princess Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001) and
Laputa: Castle in the Sky (1986).

The Russian Revolution was a series of two revolutions that consisted of the
February Revolution and the October Revolution. The February Revolution of

Growing up in a house that valued personal rights and freedoms, I have always
been surrounded by the notation that everyone has the right to a fulfilling,
positive, and safe life. I mean, when my birth was announced, my father praised
the nurses union strike that prevented me from being born in the hospital near us. I
recognize that justice and compassion are the founding principle of who I am
today. I went to my first protest against animal cruelty in the circus when I was 5
weeks old. Ever since then, I have worked hard to better the treatment of animals
and people. In my school, I am in the International Baccalaureate Program. One of
the clubs offered to IB students was Food for All. When I heard about it, I knew I
had to join, because I knew the program aligned well with my career goals. I aim to
major in International Relations and minor in Peace and Conflict resolution. I hope
to join the Peace Corps as well. I feel like if I can better the local community, I can
