Endowment for Human Development - Virtual Human Embryo Project Mark Holterman
Introduction University of Illinois College of Medicine professor Mark Holterman , MD, focuses on pediatric and surgical topics in his daily work. Dr. Mark Holterman also serves on the scientific advisory board for the Endowment for Human Development (EHD). The EHD works toward a greater understanding of human development and related health concerns. The nonprofit, neutral organization is dedicated to scientific advancement and public health. In addition to ongoing research and educational programming, the EHD hosts the Virtual Human Embryo project, which features a collection of embryonic imagery in a library approaching 34 gigabytes. The project catalogs normal human embryos, showing thousands of images of embryos at each stage in development. These images, videos, and models are accompanied by relevant information about each developmental stage. Researchers, educators, and interested members of the public can browse the library on the EHD website at www.ehd.org.
