UNIVERSITY PROFILE Filamer Christian University , a private university located in Roxas City, Capiz, Philippines, is adorned with multicolored centenarian history. Founded in 1904 by Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Robbins, with the help of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society, Filamer claims a significant historical existence starting as a home for orphans until becoming a university. UNIVERSITY PROFILE Filamer Christian University is located at the heart of Roxas City in the province of Capiz, which is known as the Seafoods Capital of the Philippines because of its rich and abundant sources of marine life. The University’s main campus, which accommodates the administration building and the different colleges, is situated on a hilly terrain that covers 14,455 sq. meters land area along Roxas Avenue, the city’s oldest business district. The annex campus which houses the University library, Technology building, and basic education units, encompasses 23,576 sq. meters land area. The Dinginan property of the University, which is being developed, is strategically located near the vicinity of a multimillion business landscape and has a 165,528 sq. meters land area. Roxas City, in which the University is situated, can be accessed through different transportation modes – by plane, boat, or bus. Admission to study at Filamer Christian University has standards that must be met, and policies to be followed and sustained. A Filamerian must uphold the vision, mission, and goals of the University. In meeting the demands and needs targeted for the students, the University’s general education courses, foundation courses, major courses, specialized courses or cognates, are aligned to the standards and guidelines set by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education. A variety of elective courses are offered in humanities and social sciences, science and technology, mathematics, and engineering, accountancy, business, and management, tourism, hospitality management, and information technology. The use of technology and different modalities is also integrated throughout the curriculum. CURRICULUM AND REQUIREMENTS
Classes at Filamer Christian University is regularly done in two semesters and one summer. The first semester is scheduled from September until January, the second semester starts February and ends in June, while the Summer classes start are scheduled in July until August. SCHEDULE OF CLASSES
A full load shall be based upon the number of units prescribed in the approved curriculum per semester. Sequencing of subjects must be strictly followed. No student is allowed to enroll and earn credits in advance subjects unless he has passed the pre-requisite subjects. SUBJECT LOAD AND SEQUENCE
CLASS SIZE The average class size is 20 students in professional or major subjects and 40 in general education subjects.
