Sequencing a story refers to the ability to determine the first event, the second event, the third event and so on and so forth. The ability to sequence events is a key component in determining one’s understanding of the pictures and/or stories. SEQUENCING A STORY

Following a sequence of events , or sequencing , means being able to identify the components of an event in order, such as beginning , middle , and end of a story. Sequencing events in a story is a comprehension strategy for reading REMEMBER:

SENTENCE- can be broken into two parts. Naming part The naming part of a sentence tells us who or what the sentence is about. It always has a naming word (noun) or a (pronoun). Telling part The telling part of a sentence gives us information about the naming part. It always has a doing word (verb). 13

RULES REVIEW: A sentence always tells us a complete idea, starts with capital letter, and ends with a period. Proper naming words start with capital letter even if they appear in the middle or at the end of a sentence. 18

When Do We Use DO and DOES ? We use DO when the subject is I, you, we, or they . Examples: I do my homework every night. You do your chores after school. We do our project together. They do exercises every morning." 25

We use DOES when the subject is he, she, or it . Examples: He does his work well. She does her best in class. It does not make sense. 👉 Quick check tip: Use DO for you, we, they, plural nouns . Use DOES for he, she, it, singular nouns . 26

OBJECT PRONOUN Is a pronoun that we use in place of a naming word that is receiving an action . It usually after the doing word or the position word in a sentence. The words me, you, him, her, us, them, and it are object pronouns. 46

1. Me Used when the speaker is the receiver of the action. Example: She helped me with my homework. 2. You Used when the person being spoken to is the receiver of the action. Example: I will call you later. 3. Him Used when the receiver of the action is a male person. Example: We saw him at the park. 4. Her Used when the receiver of the action is a female person. Example: The teacher praised her for her work. 47

5. Us Used when the speaker and at least one other person are the receivers of the action. Example: They invited us to the party. 6. Them Used when the receivers of the action are more than one person (not including the speaker). Example: I told them about the project. 7.
