Be A Pro Diver – Enroll in SSI Advanced Open Water
Course in  Andaman
The SSI advanced open water diver course is similar to PADI advanced adventurer
course, which is the next level of open water certification. The program is designed for
certified open water divers who are willing to explore deeper sites, refine their diving
skills, and experience various types of advanced diving (like night diving and deep diving)
under supervision.
The open water diver course is all about learning basic scuba diving skills, but unlike
open water, advanced open water focuses more on enhanced underwater diving skills,
improving divers’ confidence and ability underwater through practical dives and new
experiences.
SSI Advanced Adventurer Training
1. Choose a certified dive shop in Andaman
It is crucial to pick a certified dive center to ensure your safe and smooth diving Journey.

Eligibility for advanced diver certification

course.
1. A diver must have completed open water certification with PADI, SSI, or an equivalent
dive agency.
2. Participants must be at least 15 years of age.

certificate for a specific medical issue.
Advanced open water diving skills
Unlike the open water diver course, the advanced open water or advanced adventurer
doesn’t require confined water skills, but all the scuba diving skills are conducted during
open water dives under instructor supervision.
Check some dive-specific skills
Navigation dive: The navigation skill allows a diver to get the ability to ascertain one’s
own place or position in a certain space and a planned way to follow the route. Divers use
a compass to get and follow the path with natural navigation and distance estimation.

3/3
Deep dive: The deep diving skill allows a scuba diver to acquire some specific skills or
ability to dive safely and confidently up to a certain depth, typically 18-30 meters (60-100
feet) and up to 40 meters (130 feet). It involves specific skills, knowledge, and training to
deal with risks associated with deep diving, such as intense underwater pressure,
decompression sickness, gas management, narcosis, dive computer usage, and safety
stops.
Wreck Dive: Wreck diving skills focus more on navigation, finning techniques, line
handling, and perfect buoyancy control to partial to full penetrate shipwrecks, aircraft, or
some other man-made structures. It is important to understand wreck structures, possible
hazards, and the perfect equipment configuration for the program.
Night Dive: Night dive involves developing specialised diving skills such as navigation
techniques, buoyancy control, buddy communication in the dark, marine life behaviour
changes at night, and the use of a dive torch to safely and confidently execute night
dives.
Perfect Buoyancy: The term perfect buoyancy refers to a condition or ability to maintain
a stable and horizontal position in the water without relying much on fin kicks and
excessive movements underwater. Proper weighting, controlled breathing, efficient finning
techniques, and a well-balanced buoyancy compensator (BCD) are the key skills to
achieve perfect buoyancy.
Price and duration of the course
The SSI advanced open water course costs INR 22000-24000 rupees per person,
including all equipment rental, Instructor fees, boat charges, digital learning material, and
certification. The course usually takes 3 days and can be extended to 4 days based on
weather and dive site conditions.
Why choose Andaman for SSI advanced open water certification?
Andaman allows us to dive in world-class tropical coral reefs like Dixon’s Pinnacle,
Johnny’s Gorge, and Pilot Reef.
The Islands offer great exposure and availability to night dives, deep dives, and wreck
dives in diverse marine ecosystems.
In Andaman, dive certification programs are usually conducted in small groups, with
individual attention, and with professional Instructors.
The Andaman Islands are a tropical beach paradise with scenic surroundings, the best
underwater visibility, and a great climate.
