SIM card is a piece of plastic that slots into your smartphone (or mobile phone) that acts as your unique ID, so that you can connect to a mobile phone network. This lets you make calls .

For more than 25 years the SIM card has been fundamental in the development of mobile telecommunications. - In 1996 m ini SIM card was introduced, then micro SIM card in 2003, after that in 2012 the nano SIM card introduced and got 40x smaller compared to the full size SIM card . - eSIM first released in February 2016, which saved %90 space compared to nano SIM card . - First SIM card introduced in 1991 about the size of a credit card and were designed to store information used to identify and authenticate users .

The   eSIM  is sometimes called an eUICC ( embedded Universal Circuit Card ) . The Google’s Pixel 2 is the first phone to introduce this technology .

No specific slot is required unlike SIM cards, and it helps to improve water and dust resistance . You’ll be able to change carriers without having to get a new SIM . eSIM technology supports multiple accounts and switching between them is super easy . On a holiday in a different country, you can connect to a local area and pay local prices for a day, a week, however long your trip .

Users who like to use different mobile phones it is easy for them with SIM cards to do so. It is not possible with eSIM card as it is embedded in the motherboard of the mobile phone . This could also be a problem if your phone’s running out of battery and you want to slip your SIM card into a friend’s phone to check on something or make a call .
