Essay About Generation Gap
Writing an essay on the topic of the generation gap can be both challenging and intriguing. The
concept itself delves into the differences in attitudes, beliefs, and values between different age
groups, often leading to a complex exploration of societal dynamics. The difficulty lies in
capturing the nuances of this multifaceted phenomenon, as it requires a delicate balance between
personal experiences, cultural perspectives, and empirical evidence.
One of the challenges is navigating the diverse viewpoints that exist on the generation gap. Each
generation has its own set of experiences, shaped by the socio-economic and political landscape
of their time. Balancing the portrayal of these differences without oversimplifying or generalizing
is crucial for an effective essay. Additionally, addressing the evolution of communication and
technology as factors contributing to the generation gap adds another layer of complexity.
Another aspect to consider is the emotional dimension of the topic. Discussing the challenges
and misunderstandings that arise between generations often requires a thoughtful and empathetic
approach. It involves recognizing the validity of different perspectives while acknowledging the
inherent tension that can arise from contrasting worldviews.
Researching and incorporating relevant statistics and studies further complicates the writing
process. It demands a thorough investigation into the sociological and psychological aspects of
generational differences, requiring the writer to sift through a vast amount of information to
present a well-supported argument.
Ultimately, crafting an essay on the generation gap involves not only the skillful integration of
research and personal reflections but also a keen awareness of the ever-evolving nature of
societal trends. It requires a commitment to capturing the essence of a phenomenon that is
continually shaped by the dynamic interplay of time, culture, and individual experiences.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the generation gap necessitates a careful examination of
diverse perspectives, an empathetic understanding of emotional nuances, and a thorough
exploration of relevant research. The challenge lies in presenting a comprehensive and nuanced
view that does justice to the complexity of the topic. If you find yourself in need of assistance

Chapter 2 Of The Annual Shape Trip-Personal Narrative
It was day 2 of the annual canoe trip that my Boy Scout troop goes on. I was in a
kayak because of a lack of canoes. The day started out with a cold and groggy
morning. The scouts ventured out to find wood to start a fire with, and the adults
began to fix breakfast and their morning cup of coffee. After the boys had gathered
enough wood for a fire, and the adults had breakfast prepared to be cooked, the
scouts constructed a roaring fire for everyone to cook their food over. Breakfast
was set to be fish. Since we were without any electronics or cooking devices, we
made hobo packs, which consisted of putting all of our food in an aluminum foil
wrap and heating it. The painstaking wait was over, and we now had a delicious
meal to fill our stomachs before another day on the water.... Show more content on

The day began a slow one. It picked up as time ticked by. Eventually, the time for
lunch had rolled around, so we stopped on an island to have lunch. Slowly, but
surely, the entire troop regrouped at the island and enjoyed a tasty meal of hotdogs
and chips. Lunch came to an end, and everyone s stomachs were full. Once more,
we abided by our Scout Motto, and left the island so we could paddle our way to the
end of our endeavour. Just a short distance of nearly a mile from the island, some
heavy rapids awaited our coming. They were something we all had to just deal
with, and figure out by trial and error, the best way to pass through them. A fellow
scout of mine, Ben, decided he wanted to be the first to try his luck in these rapids.
Ben was a first year scout, who had never been on the canoe trip before. Ben was in a
kayak as well. I followed closely behind Ben so that I could be of assistance should
anything go

Taking a Look at the Juggalo Subculture
The Juggalo subculture is a very unique one with many differing factions that have
been around for 20 years. They are a nonviolent group that started in the mid 1990s
with the ascent of popularity of the band Insane Clown Posse. They are an interesting
and diverse subculture with many unique traits and means of expressing themselves.
A Juggalo is someone who is a die hard fan of the Insane Clown Posse or any group
from the Psychopathic Records label. It s a spinoff of the punk subculture, making it
an even more exclusive and tightly knit group. The term Juggalo started in 1994 at
an Insane Clown Posse concert and has ballooned as an identifier and widely
recognized name. Many Juggalos have tattoos identifying themselves with their
Juggalo names. The names are personal identifiers that range from sugar bear to
demon clown, showing the diversity of people represented in the Juggalo lifestyle.
This group split off of the punk subculture as a more extremist faction. They are the
hardcore side of punk, often representing the drug culture and the violent punk
Juggalo sub faction. They are objecting to the preppy side of America. They view
themselves as outside of the mainstream because of their face paint and attitude that
goes against the mainstream culture
The group members often get tattoos with their Juggalo names and other Juggalo
tattoos. They also wear face paint to look like scary clowns, usually black and white
to emulate the Insane Clown posse s style. Their

Canadian Mining Industry
Mining has always been an important industry in the Canadian economy. As the
Canadian economy is rebounding, so too is mining experiencing growth. With many
planned explorations and mining operations underway, this sector looks like it ll be
growing for some time to come. Many mining companies are already hiring. If you re
thinking about employment in the mining industry, consider these eight mining jobs.
1. Engineer Almost all of engineer roles are readily available as the mining industry
continues to grow and expand its operations in different provinces. Planning and
project engineers will find themselves in high demand. Mining engineers are also
integral to the operation of mines. Engineers are involved in metallurgy, often as

A number of features work to keep mines safer than ever before. This includes
heating, cooling, climate control, air quality control, and lighting. Electricians are
vital to mining operations. They are employed during the construction of the mine
and some continue on after to ensure everything is running effectively in the mine.
Their work keeps the mine running smoothly and keeps everyone safe. 6.
Construction Manager Speaking of construction, did you know many mines will
employ a construction manager or two? During the initial phases of mining a new
site, the mine must be constructed. To do this, miners call in a number of
construction workers. Construction managers are among them. As mine operations
often continue expanding after the initial site is opened, construction managers may
find themselves working on expansion construction projects. 7. Procurement
Specialists Mining is a business. To keep the business running smoothly, miners must
buy and receive important supplies. As a result, supply chain management is also a
critical piece of the mine s operations. Procurement specialists are needed in mining.
Warehouse supervisors, buyers, and contract specialists all work to keep the mine
operating flawlessly. They ensure the right supplies are available when they re

Online And On Campus Learning
We are all looking for things in our lives to be convenient. Technology today has
made that more possible than ever. We have almost everything we need right at
our fingertips. I personally use online banking so I rarely have to step foot into a
bank. I love online shopping, I can order anything that I want and have it delivered
to my front door. I can even have my groceries shipped to me if I wanted to. So it s
no surprise that online learning has become so popular today. I utilize both, online
and on campus learning, as well as a combination of both. I have found that the
convenience of having at least part of my classes online, where I can access them
anytime I want, from anywhere, without mandating what time and how long I spend
learning the material, fits perfectly into my busy schedule. But is it as good as the
face to face learning that one receives in a classroom setting with other students
engaging in conversations about a topic? Online learning allows for more flexibility
for students to attend classes at their convenience and accommodates those who find
it hard to attend a class on a campus. Online education is quickly becoming a popular
option, though it takes a particular type of well disciplined student to be successful in
an online environment. Because online courses have most, if not all, of their content
delivered over the internet, the student, peer, and teacher interactions are done
primarily over some form of written correspondence. Your

Essay on Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey
After having a thorough read of the novel Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey, I have come
to understand the powerful effects of using written codes and conventions in novels.
Silvey s impressive piece of literature was carefully constructed through techniques
such as characterization, socio cultural context, themes and intertexuality. By doing
this, Silvey was accredited for convincing the readers, appealing to their emotions
and manipulating their beliefs and values to accept or agree with his opinions on the
issue covered in the novel. Characters play a major role in ensuring that the novels
can be read and comprehended. However, the success of a novel is dependent on the
quality of characterization and whether they will attract the... Show more content on

The community also had issues with Vietnamese immigrants due to their different
physical features and the crisis Vietnam was in. For instance, Jeffrey and his
family were harassed and Mr. Lu was beaten by four drunken men. The messages
are being conveyed as themes in the novel and Silvey aims to inform Australians of
the consequences for our actions. He explored ideas of racism and discrimination,
inequality, injustice and alcoholism. In the novel, Charlie is distressed to find both
of his friends being insulted and abused for the nationality. For example, Jasper is
blames for Laura s death and for every conflict he is held as scapegoat. In Jeffrey s
case, his family is looked down upon and their reputation as humans is disregarded
and degraded. Silvey is trying to highlight the stupidity of the people and show the
importance of giving everyone a fair go. Jasper Jones has strong intertextual links
to an all time favourite but a complex novel to understand, To kill a mocking bird
by Harper Lee. In fact Silvey wrote Jasper Jones as an easier and modern version of
To Kill a Mocking Bird. Many of the characters have parallel personalities and some
of the main ideas were the same. Both deal with racism and discrimination in small
country towns, both explore the distant relation between law and justice, and both,
Jasper Jones and TKAMB create a world of moral opposites

California Wine
Taking a tour of the California wine country is like stepping into heaven. The air is
filled with a particular scent that keeps me in mind of the richness of the land. The
endless acres of grape vines that undulate over graceful slopes makes me want to
just sit and stare. On a sunny morning when the dew has not quite lifted, it s magical
and the sunsets are beyond description. It s not a wonder that such a paradise
produces some of the best winein the world.
A person can wing it, go solo and travel from vineyard to vineyard on their own, but
the recommended approach is through an established wine tour operator. Trafalgar

Here you get to test your palette for fine wine by making your own. You taste the
vineyards specialties, but also create your very own bottle. As a guest, you are
presented with three varietals; a Zinfandel, Petite Syrah, and perhaps a

blend. It s a fun exercise and for some, a bit challenging. You walk away with a bottle
of wine you personally created and believe me, a deeper respect for the vintner.
Next stop Domaine Carneros. This vineyard specializes in sparkling wines. It is an
elegant chateau surrounded by acres of rows of vines. Here a winemaker will take
you, through a brief course how wine is made. There is a science and an art to
getting the perfect blend, and the secret to a good wine is knowing how to pair these
two aspects seamlessly. The presentation is engaging and you might find yourself
hanging on every word, as you learn more about soil structure, climate importance
and storage techniques. Then of course, you get to

Complex And Interesting Optical Properties Essay
IntroductionThe complex and interesting optical properties can be shown clearly
on Nanostructured metals the collective oscillations of the conduction electrons
termed plasmons lead to most striking phenomenon encountered in these structures
are resonances . Plasmon modes number of geometries and in various metals ?
most importantly in noble metals such as gold, copper and silver. Under certain
circumstances are excited by light, which leads to strong light scattering and
absorption and an enhancement of the local electromagnetic field. In 1989, upon
calculations, Neeves and Birnboim proposed that a composite spherical particle
with a dielectric core and a metallic shell could produce SPR modes with a much
larger range of wavelengths. The first nanoshells were made by Zhou et al. In the
1990?s. They used a Au2S core surrounded by a gold shell. Variations of these
shells made it possible to shift the standard gold colloid plasmon resonance peak
from ~520 nm up to ~900 was a limit however, of less than 40 nm on the size of
nanoshell that they could achieve due to the chemistry of their synthesis reactions.
process also produced large amounts of gold colloid as a secondary product which
gave an additional absorption peak at ~520 nm. Halas and synthesized a new type of
gold nanoshell that overcame many of the limitations of the Au2S core type
nanoshell. The new method replaced the Au2S core with a silica core and made it
possible to exert much greater control over the

The Difference Between Homeland Security And
Homeland...
The distinction between homeland security and homeland defense is pivotal in
gaining a better understanding of how these agencies work and how they correlate to
our nations infrastructure. We must understand the designated missions set forth for
both these agencies while learning how they meet the tasks appointed to them and
resources utilized to accomplish the mission. Learning the fundamentals of our
nations infrastructure information must be provided to showcase how these agencies
utilize the appropriate resources to guarantee the securityof these critical
infrastructures. Offering an opinion in the definition of homeland security and how
resources are being utilized to fix vulnerabilities is vital to showcase what is being
distributed and learned on a researchers and readers level. Homeland security and
homeland defense play a pivotal role in ensuring our borders are protected.
Homeland security and homeland defense both have separate missions and
responsibilities that fall to them. Homeland security is tasked with ensuring our
nations borders are secure to include immigration, disaster relief, and preventing
future terrorist attacks. The mission of the Department of Defense is to provide the
military forces needed to deter war and to protect the security of our country (About
the Department of Defense (DoD)). They may both have separate primary missions,
yet they still coordinate and work with one another in the event of an attack on U.S.
soil. They must continue to

Essay On Cost Drivers
Implementation of similar drivers occur during Maintenance and Service Operations.
As with new fabrication, labor is a key prime cost associated with service and
regular maintenance of aircraft. Though this cost is easy to allocate to specific
airframes by hour, it is also important to note that service and maintenance require a
higher percentage of Support Coststhrough inspections, analysis, and customer
involvement activities. As such, implementation of ABC methods in this sector
requires more detailed analysis of support and labor costs to identify cross activity
correlations. Finally, Training and Support Activities would be the most difficult to
clarify prior to implementation. Costdrivers for non standardized training events or...

ABC Cost Structure Cessna has a fairly straightforward product set that lends itself
to ABC fairly easily. Regardless if the airframe is being designed, assembled, or
serviced, the ABC activities and associated cost drivers are applicable to all
operating activities. Product promotion and advertising utilize similar mediums and
sales of all types of airframes are handled using similar cost drivers. Moving into the
Design and Engineering phase, employees can again combine these tasks into an
activity center that runs off of design hours as their primary cost driver. Airframe
Fabrication covers the physical production and construction activities and would be
budgeted based on multiple cost drivers depending on the hourly requirement per
item. The most logical cost driver in this category is the number of parts requiring
assembly or fabrication. Once assembly is complete,
Inspection activities assess the quality and integrity of the finished airframe to
prevent failures and possible catastrophic consequences. Similar to fabricating, where
the number of parts determine cost, the cost driver for inspections are the number of
inspections necessary to obtain the required airworthiness certifications. The final

Monsters In Pan s Labyrinth By Guillermo Del Toro
There are several monsters in Pan s Labyrinth by Guillermo Del Toro. However, no
other monster fits the description of a monster better than Captain Vidal. He is
callous, cruel, and heinous. In Pan s Labyrinth, Guillermo Del Toro exhibits Captain
Vidal s monstrous characteristics through Vidal s own actions and other characters
such as the Pale Man. Vidal s monstrosity is apparent throughout the film. In David
Gilmore s Monsters: Evil Beings, Mythical Beasts, and All Manner of Imaginary
Terrors, he states that monsters attack and kill without compunction. Captain Vidal
exemplifies this characteristic when he kills two farmers. He killed for the sake of
killing. If he wanted information about the rebels from them, he would ve tortured

The very obvious monster in the film is the pale man. It looks like a monster and
acts like a monster. Stephen Asma s definition of a monster suits the pale man
well. It is deformed while keeping the general shape of a human being since the
pale man has legs, arms, and a head. The pale man and Captain Vidal are closely
linked. For example, they both kill children. Vidal shoots Ofelia and the pale man
eats children. Del Toro also displays this link visually. There is a striking similarity
between the banquet scene at the mill and the pale man s lair. Both scenes feature a
table with mouthwatering food that Ofelia isn t supposed to eat. Also, the seating of
both monsters are the same. The pale man represents the monster inside of Vidal. Its
deformity is what makes the pale man a monster. By linking the two monsters, Del
Toro shows that Captain Vidal is deformed behind his crisp uniform. Stephen Asma
states that some monsters start out harmless. Captain Vidal goes through this
progression too. Del Toro shows this through Vidal s newborn son. Vidal was once
a innocent baby just like his son. Mercedes asserts to Vidal that he will have no
influence on his son by telling him that the baby won t even know the name Vidal.
By doing so, Del Toro expresses his belief that people aren t born monsters. It s the
environment that turns people into

I Am A Peace At The Vail Valley Medical Center After...
To begin, I want to clarify that I am not sharing this because I seek sympathy, I am
rather sharing this because I feel that I owe a sincere explanation to you all.
My father was admitted to the Vail Valley Medical Center after suffering from
withdrawal symptoms from alcoholism on June 21st, 2015 (Father s Day), one week
before I left for the United States Naval Academy. Within the first week of Plebe
Summer I learned that he had almost passed away after developing a staph
infection and that Flight For Life Colorado had to transport him to a larger
hospital in Denver. During Plebe Summer I also learned that my grandfather,
whom I had been extremely close with, had passed away on July 14th, 2015. I
missed the funeral that was held on July 21st, 2015 in Durango because I was in
Annapolis, and I was therefore unable to be there for my grandmother. These two
events reinforced how much I value my family and my proximity to them. I made
the difficult decision to depart the United States Naval Academy because I felt that
I needed to be in Colorado to support my family, especially my mother and my 14
year old brother. I want you all to know that I do not place any blame on my father
for what happened. He decided to quit drinking alcohol solely for the reason that he
wanted to be sober in order to give me the the best possible final week at home. It
was an act of love that turned into disaster, despite his pure intentions. If you know
him you are extremely fortunate, and I truly

Essay Effective Mediation
1.Introduction
The practice of settling human conflicts through intermediaries has had a rich history
in Western and non Western cultures and therefore a broad range of forms and
functions. The conflicting parties in most of the societies and at all stages of social
interaction have had access to external actors to whom they approach when they
come to the conclusion that they are incapable to handle their different opinions by
themselves. In this case, an ordinary response to identify contradictions in objectives
and values be tween adversaries is to enter into a process of negotiation in order to
achieve an agreement on such differences, which is mutually acceptable. In
consequence, negoti ation seems to be a universal, human ... Show more content on

A special research field in the mediation literature intends to shed light on the
question, how influential the impact of mediator s characteristics and motivations on
the mediation process is. Concerning the state of research, the studies of this debate
show a divergent picture. There are scientists who have queried the significance of
mediator s impartiality (Bercovitch/Houston 1996; Kydd 2003, Touval 1982;
Zartmann/Touval 1996). Scholars like Saadia Touval have underpinned that
mediators are often biased and can perform their tasks just as well if not better as
impartial mediators. Additionally, Touval and Zartmann stated in their study that
mediation is an exercise in power politics: leverage is the ticket to mediation (Touval
/Zartmann 1989: 129). In 2003, Kydd finds that mediators use their leverage to one of
the two conflicting parties and therefore constraint concessions. Thus, the mediator
must be biased to be effective. This means that merely a mediator who is biased
towards one side can credibility tell them that the opponent will not make peace
without the concession. Carnevale and Arad (1996) also remarked the importance of
bias. Nevertheless, they suggest that impartiality should not be underestimated and
therefore be taken in to consideration.
However, there are a few practitioners who claim that the honest mediator must,

Minorities and Film Essay
Minorities and Film
Minorities and the Film Industry It s September, the kids are back in school, and it
s time for another new season of television. Another round of must see Felicity,
Friends, and Frasier, with a side of ER and some Nash Bridges for dessert. Loads and
loads of Caucasian males and females making us laugh, and cry. What you do not see
are Black, Hispanic, or other minorities making us laugh, and cry. In this day and
age, where everyone gets a fair shot at doing what they really love, the same can not
be said for minorities in the film industry. More and more minorities are being turn
away in favor of Caucasian actors. It s not only actors that are feeling the pinch, its
also writers, directors, producers, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take these examples from Entertainment Weekly: 1.NBC, the only network to make a
profit last year, also boasts the whitest programming.
2.The WB s Felicity draws similar numbers of 18 to 49 year olds as the net s two
highest rated black series, The Steve Harvey Show and The Jamie Foxx Show. But
last season, Felicity commanded about $80,000 per 30 second commercial while
The Steve Harvey Show and The Jamie Foxx Show each drew less than $40,000 for
an equivalent spot.
3.The WB lost 20 percent of its black 18 to 49 year old viewers last season yet will
earn record ad revenue this fall. The facts do not lie and it s a wonder why none of
the ad execs EW interviewed would go on record. Because the position they are
defending is borderline racist: White viewers are worth more than black viewers,
they won t talk about it. And the studios share a similarly narrow view: Networks
generate less ad money from black shows, so they pay less to the studio. Plus

Second excuse is the plethora of networks today. Back in the old days there were

and ABC to edge away from the genre.

Postmodernism in The English Patient Essay examples
Postmodernism in The English Patient
Postmodernism is one of the most controversial and influential intellectual
movements to appear in the last fifty years. In order to understand postmodernism, it
would be wise to begin with a definition of modernism. Modernism is a philosophy
based on the belief that through Enlightenment values of rationality and the absolute
truth of science, the human race will evolve into a utopia. Modernists are Eurocentric,
humanistic, and optimistic. Postmodernism is essentially a rejection of modernism
and all Enlightenment values. More importantly, postmodernism looks upon the
modern world with increased cynicism and disappointment. Key themes in
postmodern thought include irony, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Katharine hates lies, she is living one by involving herself in an affair.
Almasy explains to Katharine while in the bath, his hatred of ownership. However,
later in the film after she tries to break off the relationship he becomes insanely
jealous and tells her he wants the things which belong to him (Minghella, English).
The most significant irony comes near the end of the film when Almasy, on his
deathbed, confesses to Carvaggio that he was responsible for Katharine s death
(Minghella, English). Almasy is overcome with grief in the cave when he tells
Katharine every night I cut out my heart, but in the morning it was full again,
essentially saying his organ of fire consumed his every thought (Minghella, English).
He tells Carvaggio she died because of me. Because I loved her, and he had the power
to control the situation but chose not to (Minghella, English). The English Patient is
filled with situations of significant irony used to promote postmodernism.
Relativism, skepticism, and self consciousness are major postmodern themes found
in the film. The relativism in the film deals with a lack of universal truth and no real
distinctions between good and bad . Kip remarks to Hana near the end of the film
that both Almasy and Hardy are what is good about England , when he

Comparison Paper: Bright Lights, Big City and White Noise
Bright Lights, Big City
Bright Lights, Big City, is an American narrative, by Jay Mclnerney. The narrative
is among America s most notable novels, presented in the second person. In the
book, Mclnerney presents the narrator as a worker for highbrow magazine. He
depicts the narrator as party maniac, and cocaine user, who intends to literally lose
himself in the profligacy (hedonism), of the yuppie party scene (McInerney 213).
The narrator frequented Heartbreak , a preeminent nightclub in New York City.
Amanda, the narrator s wife opted to walk out on him, after establishing her
modelling career in Paris. The narrator lived in denial. He opted to assume his wife
s departure, and live as if nothing had change. He lived in the hope that his wife
would return (McInerney 343). Nonetheless, the narrator opted to search for his
wife at her fashion events. He was overly fixated on his wife s memory, where he
obsessed on her possessions, her modelling pictures, and a dummy based on her.
Overtime, his incongruous lifestyle influenced his career. Progressively, the narrator
became overly disillusioned, and fixated on his wife, and the acquisitive New York
culture. White Noise

Spread of HAIs: Medical Staff Non Compliance
In the beginning of the chapter On Washing Hands , Dr. Gawande stated that the
spread of hospital acquired infections could be stopped if the medical staffs wash
their hands frequently between each patient visits. The infections are carried through
the doctors and staff members and then transferred to the next patients by having
shaken hands with a sniffling patient...most of [the staff] do little more than wipe
[their] hands on [their] white coats and move on to see the next patient (Gawande
15). The various contagions that the staff encounter is known to cause deadly
infections and about ninety thousand patients die from these ... Show more content on

Gawande mentions in the beginning of the book about the incident where his
patient s surgery time had to be delay since operating rooms were full and there are
only enough nurses available to cover seventeen of forty two operating rooms
(Gawande 6). In that case, if each nurse took an extra minute after each patient they
encounter to wash their hands, then there will about a twenty minute delay for each
nurse since each nurse is responsible for checking in on twenty patients in an hour
during their rounds. Since washing hands took too long for the fast paced hospital
setting, hospitals began to replace hand soap with easy to go hand gel. The fifteen
seconds hand rub over gel saved time and increased the medical staff participation in
hand washing to 70 percent, but hospital infection rate was barely affected by the
change since there were still a 30 percent of non hand washers who are still
transmitting the infections.
The nurses acknowledge the principle of washing hands but are having a hard time
washing their hands because of they are having a difficult time applying the hand
wash routine in their work force. Gawande demonstrates the medical staff s inability
to compliant the hand wash routine with his personal viewpoints and experiences.
Throughout the On Washing Hands chapter, Gawande explained the importance of
washing hands, the effect of not washing hands, and how to properly wash hands,
demonstrating that he understands the concept of hand washing in

Muscle Moment Lab Report
The purpose of the experiment in lab 5 was to see how force and EMG of the
muscles would be affected when the wrist angles were changed. In order to
determine how much the myosin and actin were interacting and how many times the
muscle cell was stimulated we had to measure the force. When the wrist was fully
flexed at 90 degrees the musclewas more contracted. Therefore, causing the
sarcomere to be pushed closer together and the zone of overlap to be larger. This
causes the myosinand actinto be on top of each other making it more difficult to have
a quality cross bridge formation. This makes it harder to stimulate the muscle. As we
continued to squeeze at different angles the force would get greater as the angle
became more flat. We had the

Shakespeare s Othello
Desdemona in Othello
In William Shakespeare s tragic drama Othello, the wife of the protagonist is
Desdemona. She is a lovely, intelligent, wholesome and pious person. This essay will
analyze her.
In Act 1 Scene1, Iago persuades the rejected suitor of Desdemona, Roderigo, to
accompany him to the home of Brabantio, Desdemona s father, in the middle of the
night. Once there the two awaken him with loud shouts about his daughter s
elopement with Othello. In response to Iago s vulgar descriptions of Desdemona s
involvement with the general, Brabantio arises from bed and, with Roderigo s help,
gathers a search party to go and find Desdemona and bring her home. The father s

Thus it would seem that Desdemona has been living her life with a father who is
primarily interested in self and less in Desdemona. And yet she has emerged
unscarred psychologically, and capable of deep love for Othello.
Entrusted to the ancient s care and that of his Emilia, Desdemona arrives at the
seaport of Cyprus. While waiting there for Othello s ship, she grows tired of Iago s
derogatory comments directed at his wife, and she quite matter of factly states her
mind: O, fie upon thee, slanderer! and even directs Iago s focus off of Emilia and
onto her ownself: What wouldst thou write of me, if thou shouldst praise me? Her
total forthrightness and courage show her to be the daughter of a senator! She
continues to critique the ancient s answers to her questions: These are old fond
paradoxes to make fools laugh i the alehouse and O heavy ignorance! thou praisest
the worst best. She is not fearful or reticent in the least.
Once that her husband has safely arrived on the island and disembarked, she greets
him publicly, and later responds before the crowd to his loving address to herself:

She is showing herself to be a most wise and feeling wife. It is this tenderness that

Athena Is The Goddess Of Wisdom, War, And Handicrafts
Athena The Superior I was ordered by the gods to choose a supreme deity. After
careful consideration I chose Athena. Athena is the goddess of wisdom, war, and
handicrafts. She possesses traits of leadership, courage, strategy, and justice and she
is perfectly fit to be a ruler. It is interesting to note that she is a woman and by Ancient
Greek standards, she possesses masculine traits. With Athenaat the top, she has two
subordinates that rank the second highest in the new kingdom. These two
subordinates are Zeus and Apollo. In this new religion, Athena will establish courage,
leadership, and wisdom as the superior traits. Athena has wisdom as her primary trait.

Athena is a goddess that will be respected and feared by mortals. These traits are
shown in the story of Arachne. Arachne was a mortal that was an amazing weaver.
So amazing to the point where she just just as good at weaving as Athena at
weaving. Angry that this girl was just as good at weaving, she turned her into a
spider. While some might find this a negative trait, I think it shows she is a good
leader. Anyone that will try and test her will get punished for it. A good leader is
one that will not be beat. A strong characteristic that Athena shows is the inability
to fall in love. She is a virgin goddess that has compassion for others like Odysseus,
but never loves them. While some might see this as tragic, it is a positive trait to
be a leader. Her inability to fall in love ensures that she will not have any affairs and
that she can focus on leading the kingdom. Athena will be a great leader of this
new religion. She is wise, she provides justice, she is respected, feared, and will not
mess around with any guys. She will make sure all order is in place and that every god
and goddess will do their part in the kingdom. Athena has been established as the
leader of the new religion and will have Zeus serve as her subordinate to the
kingdom. Zeus is the god of the sky and represents power, courage, and education.
He is the second highest ranking deity in the religion. His power is what makes him
the second most important god. There is

Condumetric and Gravemetric Lab Report Essay
Conductimetric Titration and Gravimetric Determination of a Precipitate
Objective:
* Measure the conductivity of the reaction between sulfuric acid and barium
hydroxide * use conductivity values to determine equivalence point * measure mass
of a product to determine equivalence point gravimetrically * calculate molar
concentration of barium hydroxide solution
Procedure:
* First, combine 10.0 mL of the Ba(OH)2 solution with 50 mL of distilled water.
Then, measure out 60 mL of 0.100 M H2SO4. Set up a conductivity probe and open
programs by connecting to logger pro. After that, start to titrate with increments of
1.0 mL. Keep titrating with smaller increments until it is pretty close to the 100
microsiemens/cm mark. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reactant ions reacted and decreased as more product formed. By measuring the
conductivity throughout, the equivalence point was determined. With the equivalence
point and the stoichiometric relationship, the molarity of barium hydroxide can be
determined. Another way to calculate the molar concentration of barium hydroxide
would be to calculate the number of moles of the insoluble barium sulfate by
gravimetric determination.
Data Analysis: 1. 7.6 10 4 mol H2SO4 2. 0.076 M Ba(OH)2 3. 0.0008351 mol
BaSO4 4. 0.0835 M Ba(OH)2 5. Equivalence Point: 24% error, Gravimetric
determination: 17% error. The gravimetric determination was more accurate because
an exact amount of precipitate was formed.
Conclusion:
In this lab an attempt was made to determine the concentration of a Ba(OH)2
solution by using the conductimetrically determined equivalence point of the
reaction between Ba(OH)2 and H2SO4 and by gravimetric determination. The
molarity using the equivalence point was determined to be 0.076 M, with a
percent error of 24% (actual value was 0.100 M). The molarity using gravimetric
determination was 0.0835, an error of 17%. One possible error is the presence of
bubbles in the buret. Bubbles would have caused the buret reading to be too high,
resulting in a larger equivalence point. Another possible error deals with the colloidal
nature of barium hydroxide due to its relatively low solubility. The colloidal barium
hydroxide would make it

Cornstarch Research Paper
Cornstarch Cornstarch is a fine, powdery starch that is made out of corn. The
cornstarch is actually made from the endosperm of the corn, which makes up most
of the kernels that we eat when enjoying popcorn or corn on the cob. Cornstarch,
also sometimes called cornflour, is produced by grinding, washing and drying the
endosperm of the corn until it reaches that fine, powdery state. Cornstarch is gluten
free. Cornstarch has many culinary uses, but it is most often used as a thickener for
sauces, gravies and fruit pie fillings. Cornstarch thickens very quickly and easily,
and forms a clear sauce after cooking, rather than an opaque one. It has roughly
twice the thickening power of flour, and while it is flavorless after cooking, it does

The Police Involvement Of Police Investigations
Accountability There have been many issues in the police force talked about in
this paper and possible solutions have been discussed on how to rectify the
problems. This is because police, like everyone else, need to be held accountable
for their actions. Police officers have to be responsive to the citizens they are sworn
to serve (Goff, 2011, p. 197) because they tend to deviate from the policies they have
made and the law (Chambers, 2012, p. 790).
Police Investigations
In internal investigations it is the police s responsibility to investigate the alleged
wrongdoing of their own officers (Goff, 2011, p. 198). These investigation units
have failed to fairly investigate cases and are viewed as untrustworthy by the
public (Chambers, 2012, p. 794). Part of this is because in some cases people see
these units paying more attention to protecting the officers in question than
uncovering the facts (Goff, 2011, p. 198). It is understandable that the public may
not trust investigations that police run within their own unit because they could
easily be affected by bias, where investigators fail to be objective. An investigation
into the affairs of the Portland Police Bureau in 2007 revealed that 37 percent of
cases were severely inadequately investigated (Chambers, 2012, p. 794). These cases
failed to hold officers culpable for wrongdoing, ignored corroborated allegations of
misconduct, failed to interview civilian witnesses, and failed to abide by investigation
regulations (p.

Graduation
Graduation is a ceremony that almost every single person is familiar with, thus
building the connection of the reader. Graduation is an important transition in one s
life. It represents an accomplishment and signifies moving on to something better,
more important and the pathway to use one s knowledge to achieve one s life goals.
It calls for a celebration along with a grand commencement among family, friends,
and peers. Maya Angelou s, Graduation , is about a young African American girl, who
is excited and proud of her academic achievements. She strives to bring the reader
into her world, while looking forward to her grand commencement. There is no
doubt that Maya Angelou is a fantastic writer and by her standards, Graduation is
an amazing piece of writing and what Angelou does best is evoke feelings and

Aristotle Substance And Matter
ARISTOTLE ON DISTINCTION BETWEEN SUBSTANCE AND MATTER
INTRODUCTION
Aristotle was both a political thinker and a philosopher. So, we can see their effects
on his writings. Moreover, he was hugely influenced by his great teacher Plato, who
was in turn a disciple of the great thinker Socrates.
He discussed about Substance and Matter in his book Metaphysics mainly, apart from
discussing them in his book Ethics . Generally, substance and matter are understood
to be the same thing. But philosophically, they are different.
ON SUBSTANCE
Epistemologically, from the definition of substance it follows:
1.that substance is its own cause
2.that it is infinite
3.that it is the only substance
4.that it is eternal
e.g., idea, soul, consciousness, God, respectively have been revered as substance by
different philosophers. For Aristotle, substance (ousia), i.e. what is in the fullest
sense, is an individual person or thing. Or rather, he normally describes the
individual as substance in the primary sense. But logically and epistemologically,
the individual is less knowable than the species to which it belongs; this is because
the individual is a concrete whole, a combination of form and matter; and only the
formal element is constant and definable, and therefore knowable. Hence he often
identifies substance with the form or essence of a thing; and this seems to be the
outcome of his long and careful discussion in Book 7 of the Metaphysics . He has
been accused of not

Conflict Management In Health Care
A conflict can be described as an interpersonal disagreement between two or more
parties having a difference in opinion, controversy, negative understanding or
insufficient communication (McKibben, 2017). Within the healthcare arena, conflict
cannot be avoided. It can have the ability to have a negative impact on the function of
the team and result in inadequate patient care. When poor patient care is provided,
the integrity of the nurse, the nursing profession, and healthcare as a whole is
endangered (McKibben, 2017). As a result, conflictmanagementis the process of
recognizing and dealing with conflict in a realistic, fair, and competent fashion.
Productive communication, problem solving, and discussing with a focus on the
issues are required skills needed for conflict management(Saeed, Almas, Anis ul Haq,
Niazi, 2014).

Obvious communication, listening, and understanding the focus of the dispute are
the factors for being effective. Nursing managers may often be involved in a conflict
as an individual, an administrator, or a unit representative. A manager is expected to
confront staff when a discord develops (Sullivan, 2018). It is also imperative a nurse
manager abides by her professional responsibilities and executes practical conflict
resolution techniques to diminish low morale and stress among her staff (McKibben,
2017). She must modify her conflict management skills to a likely situation (Saeed et
al., 2014). In order for the nurse manager to handle the conflict, it is helpful to
understand the people involved. Positive management promotes mutual respect,
refines working relationship, and restores staff retention (McKibben,

Morally Corrupted In Porphyria s Lover
Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover was first published in 1836 in a small
magazine under the title Porphyria. The poem tells of a man who kills his lover
named Porphyria after she sets her passion free (23) and decides to give herself to
[him] forever (25). Another poem with the same underlying theme as Porphyria s
Lover was published in 1681 named To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell.
Both tell about the relationship between lovers, but Porphyria s Lover ends with
murder, while To His Coy Mistress has no physical interaction. Overall, the speaker
in Porphyria s Lover is more depraved than the speaker in To His Coy Mistress

The speaker in To His Coy Mistress didn t commit any crime that he would need to
feel remorseful for he was just a creep. He did say some questionable things that
could make him feel remorseful later, but the most important thing is that he never

doesn t show any remorse for killing his lover. He says, No pain felt she; / I am
quite sure she felt no pain (41 42). He reassures himself that she didn t feel pain
and that Her darling one wish would be heard (57), which he probably thought
would have been to be with him forever. In his mind he doesn t have any qualms
about his actions because he thinks she wanted what happened to her. The speaker

Mayer et al. (2015) examined the rapid and significant changes to vaginal microbiota
following antibacterial treatment for BV, and found that metronidazole, although the
first line treatment for BV, is not effective ultimately effective against G. vaginalis;
within 24 hours of administration, there was complete reorganization of the vaginal
microbiota, with G. vaginalis reemergence within 7 days. It is speculated that drug
resistance may be partially responsible for their results. By contrast, Waheed, Yaseen

the clindamycin regimen is shorter in duration (p.

Essay On Us Involvement In Vietnam
United States involvement in Vietnam began as early as 1950. Multiple United States
presidents authorized the use of U.S. troops in Vietnam and each had their reasons
that they believed were appropriate. From Truman to Johnson, efforts were focused
on putting an end towards Communism in the country. The United Statesbelieved that
if one Southeast Asian country fell to Communism, many would follow. This was
called the domino theory . Every president had a different approach to prevent the
uprising of a Communist regime, all making the situation worse than it had
previously been.
Following WWII, Ho Chi Minh created the Vietminh to fight of Japanese and French
forces. Japan withdrew from Vietnam in 1945 and Emperor Bao Dai was left in

With the situation remaining tense in Vietnam, just new U.S. president, Lyndon B.
Johnson decided to increase US military support in South Vietnam. Shortly after,
Democratic Republic of Vietnam torpedo boats attacked US destroyers in the Gulf of
Tonkin. With permission from Congress, Johnson approved bombing raids in
Vietnam. In March 1965, Johnson sent US forces into battle in Vietnam. For the next
few years, American support for involvement in Vietnam decreased as a result of the
negative toll that it took on many US troops. America s involvement in the war
wouldn t end until 1975, under the direction of President Gerald Ford.
The war in Vietnam was mostly a mission focused on striking down the Communist
agenda. Many American leaders believed that if one Southeast Asian country fell to
Communism, others would follow. They believed this so strongly that each US
president to take office for 25 years would devote U.S. military action and equipment
to the prevention of an uprising of Communist regimes. Over the years there was
much back and forth between South Vietnamese and Communist regimes such as the
DRV. It was a nasty war that was mostly unsuccessful as far as most US citizens were

Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Analysis
A man is not truly one, but truly two this is ideology from the character Dr. Jekyll in
the famous Victorian Gothic novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
published by Robert Louis Stevenson. Stevenson s novel touched upon the dual
nature of humankind, and helped the Victorian era understand the evolution in
scientific inquiry and technological advances of a resistant audience. Stevenson s
novel reflects his view on the theory of evolution engaged by scientist of Victorian
Era, and the themes and his characters indulge in the progression of man and his view
of the human mind. His diction interests the audience bringing life to the story and

Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Stevenson uses very rich diction so that his audience can
visualize every detail of the setting and characters. In Dr. Lanyon s letter to Mr.
Utterson describing how he came to know of Dr. Jekyll s deception and secrets, he
also describes Mr. Hyde. This was the first time in the novel that Mr. Hyde was
descriptively described. The diction Stevenson used influenced not only the visual
aesthetics of the reader but several themes and gives the reader foreshadowing. Dr.
Lanyon first describes Mr. Hyde s clothing as enormously too large , and goes into
further detail by observing that his pants were too long for him and were rolled up
to keep them from the ground and the collar sprawl wide upon his shoulders
(Stevenson). Dr. Lanyon s description also foreshadows the truth behind Dr. Jekyll
s secret because Dr. Jekyll was described as a large man, a large, well made, smooth
faced man of fifty (Stevenson). Mr. Hyde s description also included Dr. Lanyon s
surmise that there was something abnormal and misbegotten in the very essence of
the creature (Stevenson). In the last chapter, the letter from Dr. Jekyll to Mr.
Utterson, the audience gets a sense of shame and understanding from Dr. Jekyll.
Stevenson s diction strongly influences the reader s perception of Dr. Jekyll s letter.
His use of words like morbid sense of shame, driven to reflect deeply and
inveterately on that hard law of life, and shed a strong light on this consciousness of
the perennial war among my members (Stevenson), imply the emotional impact that
Dr. Jekyll s experiments had on

Room, by Emma Donoghue
We have all heard the African proverb that says, It takes a village to raise a child. The
response given by Emma Donoghue s novel Room, simply states, If you ve got a
village. But if you don t, then maybe it just takes two people (Donoghue 234). For
Jack, Room is where he was born and has been raised for the past five years; it is his
home and his world. Jack s Ma on the other hand knows that Room is not a home, in
fact, it is a prison. Since Ma s kidnapping, seven years prior, she has survived in the
shed of her capturer s backyard. This novelcontains literary elements that are not
only crucial to the story but give significance as well. The Point of view brings a
powerful perspective for the audience, while the setting and... Show more content on

Mountains are too big to be real, I saw one in TV that has a women hanging on it by
ropes. Women aren t real like Ma is, and girls and boys not either. Men aren t real
except Old Nick, and I m not actually sure if he s real for real. Maybe half?
(Donoghue 18)
Through this, we see that the only other person who might be real is Old Nick. Even
then, Jack expresses the thought that Old Nick may not be completely real because
he is from Outside. Once Jack learns that outside is a real place he must being to
comprehend the idea that Outside has everything (Donoghue 71). As Jack begins to
think this through he states:
Whenever I think of a thing now like skis or fireworks or islands or elevators or yo
yos, I have to remember they re real, they re actually happening in Outside all
together. It makes my head hurt. And people too, firefighters teachers burglars
babies saints soccer players and all sorts, they re all really in Outside. I m not
there, though, me and Ma, we re the only ones not there. Are we still real?
(Donoghue 71) This is just the beginning of his thought process about the unknown
world he refers to as Outside. The perspective of the narrator allows the reader to
begin to understand the mind of a child. The author chooses to use this unique point
of view to give the audience the chance to think of what it would be like to be in a
situation like this. It makes a person reflect and think about their childhood, how it
was different, and what they

Sport Organization Assessment

Assessment 1: Event Analysis
Reserve Grade, Local Australian Rules Football Match in the Eastern Football League
Blackburn Football Club v Balwyn Football Club
5/4/2014
Introduction
Australians are renowned for their passion for sport, in particular, the four main
football codes (Australian Rules football, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Soccer).
In terms of the participation rate among these four codes, Australian Rules Football
ranks second behind outdoor soccer, with 419 000 individuals or 2.6 % of the
population participating in the sport. (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2009)
The majority of the individuals who participate in Australian rules football,
participate at the local level, as Australia adopts a community club based system for
all sports. This ensures that everyone that has a desire to partake is very much able
to at a local level which includes clubs like the Blackburn and Balwyn Football
Clubs. (Shilbury, Deane, Kellett 2006, p. 19)
Thus, the purpose of this report is to analyse different aspects and contributions to a
local game of Australian Rule Football, to determine areas of praise and improvement.

identify inefficient business practices that have led to the companies first profit loss

The key issue presented in front of the management is the possible steps to be taken
by the management in order to avoid such losses. Critical Thought The issue
addressed by the accounting system of Dakota office products invites our attention
to the premise of Activity Based costing methodology. We are certain about the fact
that the accounting and reporting system at Dakota Office Product is inappropriate
and is leading to the company making wrong decision ultimately leading to losses.
This was apparent from the record where the company was able to increase its sales
without a corresponding increase in the profits for that particular year. Activity based
costing system is an approach which seeks to allocate the overhead cost to the
products on a scientific and realistic basis. The existing system of allocating cost at
Dakota Office products were inadequate in so much so that it was following an
unreasonable basis for allocating the cost, which were known and visible, such as
the desktop delivery cost. The existing system was suffering from oversight of some
of the expenses. ABC costing system seeks to overcome the problem of oversight
and make a more reasonable allocation of the costs. The distinctive feature of this
method is the fact that the method can provide useful insights to the management as
to the activities which are leading to the cost by

Katrina hit many southern cities. Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi were all hit
but the most damage occurred in New Orleans. With the city mostly under sea
level this presented much of the problem. The majority of the city was flooded.
More than $200 billion dollars in damages were estimated. The loss of life,
property, and business were devastating on New Orleans. This was the most costly
of all natural disasters in the United States of America in my lifetime. This natural
disaster disturbed the economic system of New Orleans, the labor markets around
the U.S., and the individual businesses in New Orleans. The trending effect was a
loss of 100,000 jobs in ten months and almost 2.9 billion in wages were lost (Effects
of Hurricane Katrina, 2012). The storm helped to crush New Orleans and put a
devastating effect on the economy of the U.S. Gas prices rose, product prices rose,
and the tourism rate in New Orleans went to zero. The port was unable to open, the
colleges were closed due to the devastation, and as I stated earlier tourism became
null and void. The hurricane brought social, economic, and morale parameters into
play. New Orleans lost 95,000 jobs in the first ten month after the hurricane (Effects
of Hurricane Katrina, 2012). Unemployment became a nightmare thus making living
arrangement unbearable. Government agencies were having a hard time keeping up
with unemployment thus making many residents

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Ptsd
Potential reactions following trauma can vary widely across individuals and can
include symptoms such as sleep difficulties, somatic symptoms (e.g., energy and
appetite impairments), and emotional symptoms (e.g., increased anxious arousal,
irritability, outbursts of anger, chronic sad mood or hopelessness). More severe
manifestations of post trauma psychopathology include the development of
psychiatric disorders such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major
depressive disorder (MDD), and substance abuse disorders [1 4] and often these
disorders are observed to be comorbid in post trauma patients. As PTSD is often
considered the most severe manifestation of post trauma psychopathology, this review
will focus more specifically on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, PTSD is often associated with other co morbid psychiatric disorders,
it carries a high risk for chronicity and individuals with PTSD have a six fold
increase in suicidality [5 6]. A recent meta analysis of 42 studies with a total of
81,642 participants on long term remission rates reported an average of 44% of
individuals with PTSD at baseline were non cases at follow up 40 months later
without specific treatment. Additionally, remission rates varied across studies
between 8 and 89%, studies with the baseline within the first five months following
trauma the remission rate was 51.7%, as compared to 36.9% in studies with the
baseline later than five months following trauma. [7]. This realization has led to the
need for early and/or preventive interventions for PTSD. While some interventions
have been proven to be ineffective or even harmful, such as ones developed for
delivery immediately following the trauma [8], other psychotherapies delivered after
trauma such as cognitive behavioral [9] and prolonged exposure [10] therapies, have
been shown to be moderately effective in reducing symptoms and preventing chronic
PTSD.
Although, a staggering 89.7% [11] of Americans are exposed to a significant
traumatic event over the course of their lifetime, the majority of trauma exposed
individuals do not develop psychiatric disorders. Lifetime PTSD prevalence using the
same event definition for DSM 5 was

The Development Of Exploration And The Industrial
Revolution
Many historians refer to the time between Exploration and The Industrial Revolution
as era of Early Modern History . In between Exploration and The Industrial
Revolution were markers known as Reformation and Enlightenment . This was a time
where nations became established and grew increasingly curious of the world around
them. Several technological and intellectual advances occurred during this era. Early
modern historybegan with the Exploration period and ended with the Industrial
Revolution. To begin with, exploration began when countries began to ponder the
world around them more. In Portugal (1415), Prince Henry wanted to travel to
Northern Africa so that Portugal could cut the muslims out of the gold and salt
trade. This became known as the Moorish Crusades. After the Moorish Crusades,
schools for exploration began to open in Europe. When the schools were created,
more and more people became interested in traveling to other countries to expand
their own economy, spread religion, and to win glory (Beck, Crowston, Davila,
Ebrey, McKay and Wiesner Hanks 461, 462).
Explorers such as Columbus and Magellan revolutionized Europe. Columbus s desire
to spread Christianity to new lands causes him to discover a route from Europe to
Asia (Beck, Crowston, Davila, Ebrey, McKay and Wiesner Hanks 462). Magellan s
fleet finds a way to get around America , and becomes the first to sail around the
world. Although many explorers tried to find a way through the

Bjergo And Barash Causal Model
This difficult life condition helps support Bjergo Barash Causal Model since it is a
structural cause. Another huge issue was the change in government. Nicaragua was
controlled by a dictator named Anastasio Somoza Garcia took control after he was

his son in 1956 after his father was assassinated Luis Somoza Debayle. Everyone in
Nicaraguawas then accustomed to dictators, in which Luis Somoza oppressed people
and committed injustices using his national guard. The National Guard was used to
oppress people who tried to overthrow him. Afterwards, the Contras did not like the

Moral Correctness And Its Effects On Society Essay
Societies have traditionally set up a system of laws that a culture learns to accept
as the moral and just norm. Cultures and societies then learn right and wrong from
this system of laws and rules and soon accept them as the moral truth. However,
some individuals choose to side with innate morals of emotions and of nature, rather
than the learned system of moral truths . These people would believe that there is
no such thing as inherent good and evil in the world, as defined by law, that those
labels are simply artificial constructs of their society. Right and wrong are so often
determined by the people who hold positions of authority: that is the way it has
always been so how then can anyone know the truth of right and wrong or the truth or
morality? The world is, in fact, one big moral grey area ; it cannot be carefully
categorized into good and bad or good and evil as people would like it to be. Moral
correctness cannot be as simple a matter of obeying the laws and rules set up by
authority while ignoring one s emotional and natural code of ethics. This idea of good
and evil and of moral correctness is explored within Herman Melville s novella, Billy
Budd, Sailor. Captain Vere, who serves as the authority aboard the ship, Bellipotent,
although believing he was upholding the proper morals of the situation at hand, from
the view of the laws upon his ship and under the king and country he serves, made the
morally wrong decision in sentencing Billy Budd, an ethically

What Benefits Are There Of Marriage Today
What benefits are there of marriage today and why do Americans continue to
marry? Campbell and Wright (2010) point out, even with roughly a 50% chance of
first marriages ending in divorce in the United States, marriage is still the crucial
goal for most adults. The top reason given by individuals for getting married is
now love (p. 331). In a life time a person will typical meet an individual, get
married, have a child, and live happily ever after. In our society, these life events are
now occurring in numerous orders, which is altering the traditional concept of
marriage. These new trends are not necessarily wrong, but it does force counselors to
respond to the changing family structure. Once marriage occurs, there are problems

Marriage Pinsof (2002) addresses marriages as a relationship that is predicated on a
mutual and voluntary commitment to a life long, monogamous partnership.
Monogamy refers to sexual exclusivity and means that the partners in a marriage
pledge sexual fidelity as part of their commitment (p. 137). Although there is not one
way to have a healthy satisfying marriage, there are some common factors that are
worth highlighting as the following characteristics: investment in the well being of
the beloved, respect, admiration, sexual desire, intimacy, commitment, exclusivity,
and understanding (Manning, 2007).
Traditional Marriage According to Russell, Baker, and Mcnulty (2013), marital
relationships can be the source of life s most enjoyable experiences, they are also the
source of one of life s most painful experiences infidelity. The difference between
dating and marital relationships is that married individuals demonstrate higher levels
of commitment (p. 244). In the past, people didn t really marry for love. Prior to the
20th century, the most common endpoint of marriage became divorce (Pinsof, 2002).
Marriage Today Since women beginning working out side out the home, and
beginning to have the option to use contraception, the dynamics of marriage shifted.
Baker and Emery (1993) study concluded that first, those who are about to be
married have largely incorrect perceptions of the legal terms of the marriage contract

A Brief Note On The Problem Of Co2 Pollution
I think that the problem is that CO2 pollution because it is the highest it has been
for hundreds of years. This world is going to be inherited by us so we need to keep
it clean. Also the air is becoming more and more toxic as we reach higher and
higher levels of CO2. My solution is a two part plan. Part one of two is instituting
a carbon fee like Microsoft has created to become carbon neutral these funds can be
pulled from by families in need of financial aid for this tax to get less energy
consuming more efficient models. Part two of two is using percentages of the tax to
do research on nano bots that take carbon dioxidefrom the atmosphere, and buying
clean energies like wind power and solar panels.
How I am connected.
My connection to this is through my friends and family because the world is being
affected by carbon dioxide more than before with ocean acidification and cities
declared unfit for life. This is the world me and my friends will inherit and I don t
want it to be some sort of poorly cared for world but a clean well cared for world.
The CO2 emissions are becoming major things in the US and China as they pollute
millions of tonnes a year of carbon dioxide. The connection I have to this came up
when I heard how bad our air was getting a couple years ago.
I haven t really gotten into this until now but that was a major help in my research
because I already had the basics down for carbon dioxide pollution. Although I had
no connections before I now realize that

Narni The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe
Like most movies based on novels, there are some major differences between the
written and the theatrical versions of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch,
and the Wardrobe.
There are also many similarities, or else it wouldn t be The Chronicles of Narnia.
The similarities and differences can be due to artistic differences for instance how
one person interprets something may not be how another interprets it, budget
reasonings, or it may just simply have to do with a time line of the filming. Seeing
as a majority of films are not made by the author of the book, it can be extremely
hard for a director and movie writer to completely capture the book on film. Another
thing that could make it hard to transcribe the book to film is ... Show more content

The books have Christian themes and describe the adventures of a group of
children who visit a magical land called Narnia. The Lion, the Witch, and the
Wardrobe was the first published and the most popular book of the series. Lewis is
said to have stated that he wrote the novels when he wondered what it would be like
if Jesus Christ was incarnated on another planet or world to save the souls of those
inhabitants . While many websites offer different reasons to why C.S Lewis wrote, or
may have written, The Chronicles of Narnia they way he did For years there has
been mass controversy over C.S Lewis s book The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion,
the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Not only over if the book is a Christian allegory or
not, but also over how well the movie captures the book. The book has a very
powerful and meaningful message, from the four Pevensie children s triumph over
an evil force, the White Witch, to restore peace in Narnia, to all of the adventures in
between, but just how well does the movie capture the book (Bell 12)? Despite
having many differences the film remains faithful in capturing the novel and putting
on film. While one may not get everything from the movie as from the book, the
majority of it is there. So for die hard fans of the book there is no need for
disappointment. All the main parts of the book are there, the characters, the plot, the

The Meaning Of Life In Hamlet
The true meaning of life is unknown. There are many different ideas on what the
meaning of life is. Moreover, In the play Hamlet, by William Shakespeare there are
multiple ways the meaning of life is portrayed in three major characters; Hamlet,
Claudius, and Polonius. Hamlet s meaning of life is shown in a belief in justice, that
morphs into a craving for revenge. Claudius meaning of lifeis strictly on power.
Without power, one s life is meaningless. Finally, Polonius meaning of life is all
about reputation. Without a reputation, no one will show respect, nor will anyone
want to respect anyone. Unfortunately, all of these perspectives of the meaning of life
will lead to the characters in Hamletto breathe one last breath. Although, the
meaning of life differs from Hamlet, Claudius, and Polonius. Polonius has the most
practical understanding of the meaning of life in today s world. Without having a
good reputation one will amount to nothing. Polonius death was the only death
that can not be entirely based on his meaning of life because it was not his
reputation that got him killed, it was his love for the King that got him killed.
Hamlet went from a mourning Prince of Denmark over the death of his father, to a
revenge seeking murderer as the play progresses. This transition in character is
evident through Hamlets meaning of life; the desire for justice. After the meeting
with the ghost, his worldview completely changed to a craving for revenge. In
today s ever changing world, people who act on revenge are no longer socially
acceptable. These people who act on revenge often commit mortal sins and heavy
crimes and are set to life in prison. Hamlet is the only person to blame for his death
because of his worldview. A villain kills my father, and for that I, his sole son, do
this same villain send to heaven. (Shakespeare 3.3 76 78) At this point, Hamlet s
worldview is completely based on getting revenge for his father. There is nothing
more important in life at the time. Hamlet has just killed Polonius mistaking him as
Claudius. Moments later Hamlet is face to face with Claudius, but chooses not to
kill him because he wants the worst for him. Hamlet says I, his sole son, do this
same villain send to

Candle Lab
The students were able to relit the candle because they followed the stream of smoke
was followed and carbon vapors and relights the already hot wick.
No experiment is perfect, during the candle lab many errors occurred. Some of the
common errors that occurred during this lab were human, random, and systematic
error. All of these errors could change the lab results. The appearance and physical
features of the candle made the quantitative data very different. When the students
were observing the fact that a candle needs oxygen to burn, they needed to place a
400mL beaker over the candle. One of the possible errors could be the beaker was
wet or it was placed too fast over the candle and this made the flame to go out. When
this process was repeated the candle flame lasted longer, this could have also ... Show

After the flame of the candle was put off the condensation inside the beaker

error could be when the 15 mL of indicator solution Bromothymol Blue was taken

of five on their beaker, the level ranged from 10 50mL when the students had to pour
the substance into their 50 mL beaker they had to use common sense to figure out
how much 15mL. When the students measured the substance they had to be precise,
so they could get an accurate result. To see if water is part of a products of a

wick was getting thinner, so heat could not reach the bottom of the beaker this
