Today modern science in developing by leaps and bounds. Scientist have invented various things that
make our life easier. Invention of computer, mobile phones & internet has made our life very
comfortable. Our life has taken a great momentum. Though internet, we can complete our bank
transaction, selling-purchasing, learning, appearing for an examination sitting at home. With it we can
communicate with the person thousands of kilometers away . with these inventions, information has
arrived at our doorsteps. this needs to be considered a great change comparing it with the last
decade.
All these inventions are for our pleasure on the other hand, we also experience that instead of all the
aforesaid inventions, human life has some discontent these all inventions make us to run wildly,
which in turn creates disturbances in mental peace, stresses & strains.
Thus, rather than happiness, we are walking to unhappiness. We are becoming victims of various
diseases like diabetes , high BP, heart diseases, illness related to nervous system, asthma, illness of
reproductive systems etc.. with these physical illness we also are losing our mental peace. We see

increasing crowd in clinics, & hospitals. A person completely free from all the illness has become a
rare thing now.
Its truth that proper use of science could make our lives happy its incorrect use has its roots in human
minds as we have no control over our minds. Everyone needs happiness, peace, satisfaction, wealth
etc. to attain which we need two things – our body & mind .
Our body must be healthy , free from any disease & efficient with this, we must have a complete
control over of fickle mind.
God has gifted us our body and mind . yet to keep them healthy & under control is our responsibility.
To keep our body healthy- efficient & mind under control. ASTANGA yoga helps us .with its practice
we can keep our body free from diseases & well organized throughout the life..
Also with the practice of Astanga yoga our mind can be controlled .
The term yoga has been applied to a variety of practices & methods that includes-
GYAN YOGA – or philosophy.
BHAKTI YOGA – or path of devotional bliss.
KARMA YOGA – or path of blissful action.
RAJA YOGA is further divided into eight parts known as ASTANGA YOGA..
Pranayama is the extension & control of one’s breath. Practicing proper of breathing can help bring
more oxygen to the blood & brain eventually helping control prana or the vital life energy. “ayama”
means control. So pranayama is “control of breath”.
Derived from the Sanskrit word “YUJ” YOGA means union of the individual consciousness or soul with
the universal consciousness or spirit. Though many think of yoga only as a physical exercise where
people twist, turn , stretch and breath in the most complex ways these are actually only the most
superficial aspect of this profound science of unfolding the infinite potentials of human mind & soul.
The science of yoga imbibes the complete essence of the way of life.

vagus nerve- the nerve that helps control the parasympathetic nervous system….
