EXPANDING SCOPE OF RIGHTS Question - Are Fundamental rights the only rights we have?
Are Fundamental rights the only rights we have? Since the beginning of the chapter, we have been learning about the importance of Fundamental rights, so you might think that these are the only rights granted by the constitution. But that’s not true. The Fundamental rights are the source of rights but, our constitution and law offers a wider range of rights under them. Over the years these cope of rights have expanded. For example the expansion of legal rights that a citizen can enjoy. Rights like Right to Freedom of press, right to information, and right to education are derived from the Fundamental Rights.
Now, school education has become a right for Indian citizens. The governments are responsible for providing free and mandatory education to all the child upto age of 14.
