2. Learning Objectives : By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: ✅ Understand and explain what estimation means. ✅ Use grouping strategies (10s, 100s) to estimate quantities. ✅ Estimate quantities up to 1000 using real-life objects or scenarios.

3. What is ESTIMATION ? Estimation means making a smart guess that is close to the real number. We don’t need the exact number, just an answer that is near the correct one. Estimation means smart guessing

4. Strategy 1: Rounding Round numbers to nearest 10, 100, or 1000. Example: 7 is between 0 and 10 Is 7 closer to 0 or 10? → Closer to 10! So, 7 rounds up to 10. Rounding Rule If the last digit is 0,1,2,3,4 → Round DOWN If the last digit is 5,6,7,8,9 → Round UP Examples 23 → 20 (round down) 47 → 50 (round up) 15 → 20 (round up)

5. Strategy 2: Base-Ten Blocks Use hundreds, tens, and ones blocks. Look at the blocks and make a quick estimate.

7. 📦 Grouping Strategy We can make estimation easier by grouping: 🔹 10 pencils in 1 bundle. 🔹 10 bundles = 100 pencils. 🔹 10 groups of 100 = 1000 pencils!

8. 🌍 Real-life Estimation We use estimation in daily life: 🛒 Shopping – How many apples in a bag? 🎉 Parties – How many balloons? 🏟️ Stadium – How many people? 🚗 Traffic – How many cars on the road?
