FARM ANIMALS

COW
•Cows are often called
cattle.
•The adult female is called
a cow.
•The adult male is called a
bull.
•A baby is called a calf.
•They are farmed for their
milk, meat and leather.
•Cattle are herbivores
(plant-eater) that graze
on grass and leaves

PIGS
•They are farmed for their
meat and hides (leather).
•Pigs are very adaptable
animals that eat many
different foods and live in
a variety of environments.
• Pigs eat plants and meat
(small animals like worms
and snakes).
•They enjoy to be in the
mud.

CHICKENS
•Chickens are domestic
(farm) birds.
•The adult female chicken
is called a hen,
•The adult male is called a
rooster.
• The young are called
chicks.
•They eat insects, worms,
fruit, seeds, acorns, grains,
slugs, snails, and many
other foods.

DUCKS
•Ducks are common water
birds.
•The adult female duck is
called a hen.
•The adult male is called a
drake.
•The young are called
ducklings.
•They eat insects, worms,
frogs, snails, slugs, small
shellfish, grasses, and
other plants.

PET ANIMALS

DOGS
•Dogs are carnivorous they
eat meat.
•These fast-moving animals
have an exceptionally
good sense of smell.
•Dogs have powerful jaws,
and sharp teeth.
•They are known as human
being best friend.
•Baby dogs are called
puppies.

CATS
•Cats are small, tame,
furry mammals that
are often kept as pets
and farm animals.
•House cats do not
enjoy swimming.
•They are carnivores
(meat-eaters).
• Cats use their acute
sight and hearing to
catch prey.

HAMSTERS
•They are somewhat like a
mouse but larger.
•Hamsters have a short tail
and large cheek pouches.
•They are often kept as
household pets in small
cages.
•Hamsters are nocturnal
(most active at night).
•They eat seeds.

FISH
•Fish are vertebrate
animals that live in
water.
•Most fish breathe
using gills.
•There are different
kinds of fish, with
different sizes and
colors.

WILD ANIMALS

TIGERS
•They have excellent
eyesight and hunt prey
mostly at night.
•Unlike most cats, tigers like
the water and are good
swimmers.
•The coat ranges from
white to orange-brown,
and has black, brown, or
gray stripes.

GIRAFFE
•The giraffe is the
tallest land animal.
•Giraffes are plant-
eaters, eating mostly
leaves, and twigs.
•Giraffes live in African
grasslands.

LION
•Lions are large cats that
live on
grassy plains (savannas) in
Africa and a some
grasslands of India.
•They are golden-colored.
•Lions live in permanent
groups, called "prides."
•Lions like to hunt during
the night.

ELEPHANTS
•Elephants live in family
groups.
•A female Elephant is
called a cow. Males are
called bulls occasionally
join the group.
•Elephants are excellent
swimmers.
•Elephants eat roots,
grasses, leaves, fruit, and
bark. They use their tusks
and trunk to get food.
•Elephants spend most of
their time eating.
