My experience I’ve been teaching for 3 years. I teach 7 th through 12 th grades. I teach Family & Consumer Science. I also taught Foods & Nutrition at the collegiate level. My background I grew up in Independence, LA. I attended Independence Elementary, Independence Middle and Independence High School. I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University. Classroom Community Our classroom rules help us get along with each other: Be respectful and responsible. Be organized and follow directions. Be on time. Be prepared. Be aware of your use of language or choice of words. Refer to your “ Rules and Consequences” sheet for detailed explanations.

What is Family & Consumer Science? Family & Consumer Science (FCS), was traditionally called Home Economics or Home Science. FCS is the profession and field of study that deals with the economics and management of the home and community. Many disciplines fall under FCS’s umbrella such as: Nutrition, Food Preparation, Early Childhood Education, Family Economics, Interior Design, Clothing Design to name a few.

Our Classroom Rituals Bell Ringer As soon as you enter class, immediately start on the bell work posted. This should be completed on your weekly bell ringer worksheet. If you miss a bell ringer activity refer to the Student Center it will be posted there. Your bell ringer sheet will be turned in every Friday in the Student Center. Exit Ticket I will pass out exit tickets 5 minutes before class ends. Complete your exit ticket and place it in the basket in the Student Center. Exit tickets count toward participation points, if you are absent this won’t count against you.

Our Student Center Located by the door, the center is an information hub for the class. You can find your make-up work, class worksheets, project instructions and important school documents. It holds your class folders. School supplies: i f you need an extra pencil or paper, you can find it here. Extra study material is also placed in the center.

Make-up Work All work that was missed can be found in your class period’s folder in the student center. Each folder is labeled with the day of the week. It ’ s your responsibility to get your work from the folder upon your return from absences. Return the completed make-up work to the students center in the appropriate bin. If necessary take work home to complete as homework.

Tardiness School starts at 7:30 A.M. Running late? Check in at the school office before coming to class. If you are tardy three times, the school will contact your parents. Class Tardiness Be prompt for your class period. Late? Sign the Tardy List in the Student Center with your name, time of your arrival, and reason for your tardiness. Place any teacher notes in the basket.
