Introduction
The flow test is another test method used in both lab and field
for measuring the workability of concrete. This test which was
first developed in Germany in 1993 is covered by BS 1881: Part
105: 1984. The test has become more widely used in recent years
as it is appropriate for concrete of high and very high workability,
including flowing concrete which would exhibit a collapse slump
To measure the flow value for concrete of high and very high
workability
Procedure
1. Place the flow table on a leveled surface
2. Clean the top of the table and inner surface of the mould
using a damp cloth.
3. Place the slump cone centrally on the table.
4. Fill the slump cone with concrete in two equal layers and
tamp each layer 10 times with the help of wooden tamping
bar.
5. After filling the mould, the concrete is struck off flush with
the upper edge of the slump cone and the free area of the
table top cleaned off.
6. Half a minute after striking off the concrete, slowly raise the
cone vertically using the handles.
7. Then raise the table top by handle and allow it to fall 15
times in a period of 45 to 75 seconds. The concrete spreads
itself out.
8. Measure the diameter of spread concrete in two
dimensions parallel to the table edges.
9. The average of these two values, given to the nearest
millimeter, represents the flow.
Results
The arithmetic mean of the two diameters shall be the measured flow in
millimeters.

Note: The flow test is appropriate for concrete having flow values of 400 to 650
mm. If the concrete at this stage does not appear uniform and cohesive, this is an
indication of a lack of cohesiveness of the mix.

Discussion
Flow test is the test that useful to finding workability of concrete
in both laboratory and field, this is more widely than vebe test
because can be done in field during work. For this test concrete
that have water cement ratio about 52.08% is used after slump
cone is fill with concrete and tamping it the cone is raise slowly
and when table top and fall for 15 times diameter of concrete is
measured our diameter is in average about 565mm so it is
became in range. Errors may be have in the test when concrete
not mix and tamping good or in reading diameter.in conclusion
we learn that by this test we can measuring flow value for
concrete for knowing workability of it.
