FOUNDATIONAL literacy and NUMERACY
Key Points of FLN
Primary Teachers who are adequately experienced and having academic qualification in English / Hindi Languages and Mathematics should be given preference for teaching in class I to III. Proficient in these subjects and skilled to teach tiny tots in a pleasant ambience.
Professional capability of teachers including communication skills need to be enhanced through training and proper orientation. Fair knowledge of child psychology.
Physical setting of a classroom. Transforming classrooms of classes I to III into smart classrooms.
Teachers to be trained adequately for getting familiarized with the use of new gadgets and peripherals. New pedagogical methods are to be adopted. Teachers’ mindfulness, creativeness, perseverance and commitment are indispensable.
Adequate Teaching Learning Material should be made available. Irrelevant TLM should not be prepared and procured
Maintaining records of the students. Regular updating of Students’ Learning Profile SLP. Services of a Data Entry Operator for primary section. Teachers should not be burdened with clerical work.
Scrupulous Lesson Planning. Lesson Plan should indicate that what learning outcome is going to be achieved. Teaching- focused, mindful and result oriented. Teachers to refrain themselves from discussing vague hypothesis, delivering ambiguous content and providing second hand or unfounded information.
Home Assignments should be given for practice purpose only Sharpen their skills and polish their acquired knowledge Develop the interests of the students in doing assignments Feel engaged in the process of learning Should not be given which they cannot perform on their own Incoherent HW consumes the energy and time of students
Classrooms need to be nicely furnished and beautifully decorated with educative and scenic materials. Materials must be changed with new materials after a regular period. Furniture of students should be fascinating and comfortable. Cleanliness and hygiene of classrooms and surrounding areas should be given highest priority. Students should be learnt to keep themselves neat and clean and to keep their belongings at the appropriate places in the classroom And do not harm any property or material of the Vidyalaya They should be made aware that living in the complete harmony with Mother Nature is the real way of living.
Regular supervision of the classes by Principal and Headmaster of the Vidyalaya Keeping a proper record of the supervision Monitoring the progress of FLN by Principal and Headmaster Sustainable efforts for achieving the goals specified under NEP 2020.
Separate computers should be provided to PRTs in their Staff Rooms , class-wise to maintain the daily records of activities with the help of Data Entry Operator A Photostat Machine, one Printer should be earmarked for the use of Primary Section All computers should be of high configurations and connected with broadband internet connection having a speed of not less than 100 mbps Adequate and comfortable furniture may be made available in the staff rooms
Students’ Learning Profile (SLP) is an indispensable tool for keeping a track of Students’ continuous progress in scholastic and co-scholastic areas. The SLP will provide 360 degree feedback about students Updating of SLP on regular basis is very essential.
Students’ progress on periodical basis through formal and informal means in a stress free environment The “Urge for Learning” and “Curiosity to Know” must be applied for prospering the young minds Students should be encouraged to ask questions, discuss their problems, doubts, mistakes and failures in the class without any hesitation or hurting their sentiments or self- esteem. Students should be fully conversent with their teachers
Support of Parents / Guardians is very much required/ They should be actively engaged in learning, grooming and developing of a child at this foundational stage of life. They are to be kept informed regularly about the progress of their wards PTM should be convened more often and all parents should be asked to attend it mandatorily They should be counselled and guided to provide nutritious food for their wards that supplements their well being along with physical and mental growth
Cluster wise monthly meeting of Principals and Headmasters will be convened to discuss the progress of FLN Minutes of the meeting will be prepared, signed and circulated for follow up in cluster KVs. Agenda for the meeting shall be prepared in advance
Maintaining the records for effective implementation of FLN and for conducting Online Classes too Documentation of all the best pedagogical approaches adopted by teachers and TLMs developed by them Record can be maintained in physical and digital modes in a presentable format
Achievement of specified Learning Outcomes under FLN is a sole criterion of successful implementation of this mission.
Judicious utilization of the limited resources for creating infrastructure, managing facilities and running services Regular action taken report on quarterly basis
