Type of Curriculum Where Found Description 1. Recommended Curriculum (K to 12 Guidelines) School, school memorandum, DepEd website, lesson plan and curriculum guide. Aligned to curriculum guidelines and serve as starting point to create lesson plans for every topic. 2. Written Curriculum (Teacher’s Lesson Plan) Instruction, assessments, syllabi, and activities. Written curriculum used in the instruction or actual method of educational activity. 3. Taught Curriculum (Teaching Learning Process) During the instruction, teacher’s discussion, student’s activities and assessment procedures. The actual teaching of the teacher, including daily discussion, student activities, and evaluation results.

4. Supported Curriculum (Subject textbook) Classrooms, Library, Laboratory, Visual Aida, and Students Book. Supported curriculum act as an inventory for the written curriculum and the learning materials of the students. 5. Assessed Curriculum (Assessment Process) Formative (quizzes) assessment and summative (periodical exam) assessment. Conducted before, during, and after instruction to assess student’s performance. 6. Learned Curriculum (Achieved Learning Outcomes) Student’s accomplished tasks, student’s output, projects, performance, and exams Learned curriculum is the outcome of student’s acquired knowledge and skills. 7. Hidden Curriculum (Media) School, learning materials, community and activities. Use to improve the instruction.

ANALYZE Which of the seven types curriculum in the school setting is easy to find? Why? Which is difficult to observe? Why? Are these all found in the school setting? How do curricula relate to one another?

ANALYZE 1.How does the teacher whom you observed compare to the competencies of global quality teachers? 2. Was the lesson implemented as planned? Describe. 3. Can you describe the disposition of the teacher after the lesson was taught? Happy and eager? Satisfied and contented? Disappointed and exhausted? 4. Can you describe the majority of students' reactions after the lesson was taught? Confused? Happy and eager? Contented? No reactions at all.

Reflect Based on your observations and tasks in Activity 2 how will you prepare your lesson plan? Make a short paragraph on the topic. - It is quite difficult to create a lesson plan. When building, you must be precise in order to save time. You put your imagination into action. Assume that you are already in the class. In planning one, I should focus on what we are going to do using the competencies that have already been given.

ANALYZE Answer the following questions based on the diagram. 1. Are the three components constructively aligned? Explain. The three components from the diagram shown on the previous page are constructively aligned. The assessment and teaching methods were determined by the learning outcomes. The three outcomes reflect what students should achieve throughout the class. 2. Will the outcomes be achieved with the teaching methods used? Why? The specified outcomes will be well realized through the application of educational approaches. The learning methods were carefully prepared and fit the learning objectives. 3. What component would tell if the outcomes have been achieved? We should look at the assessments that were utilized to see if the outcomes were met. Using the lesson plan from the previous page as an example, the final outcome requires the student to be able to apply learning by creating their own essay. The evaluation section then reflects the final goal, which may aid in achieving the desired result.

REFLECT What lessons have you learned in developing or writing a lesson plan? What value will it give to the teacher if the three components are aligned? The following are the takeaways from developing lesson plan and the idea of constructive alignment: a.A careful presentation is needed. The instructor must ensure that everything he or she will need in the session, including resources, strategies, methods, instruments, assessment, and evaluation, is thoroughly planned. b.Select the best resources and procedures. Materials will be utilized to assist the teacher and students in learning or discussing the lesson; the teacher must choose materials that are relevant to the topic. As with the procedure, the teacher must respond to the students’ needs while adhering to the curricular lesson. c.Each component of the lesson plan must be productively aligned. If all of the components are aligned, the lesson will be more ordered and may reduce student misunderstanding. Teachers will be able to evaluate students based on their performance, and students will be able to study lessons based on the curriculum rules.

SHOW Your Learning Artifacts   Learning Artifacts for Activity 1-3 Present an artifact for Activity 1, 2, and 3.   Activity 1 Artifact 1. Present an evidence for each kind of curriculum operating in the school setting. This can be in pictures, realia, documents or others. Recommended Curriculum Taught Curriculum Supported

Learned Curriculum Assess Curriculum Hidden Curriculum Written Curriculum

Activity 2: Artifact 1. Present a sample curriculum in a form of a Lesson Plan.

Lesson Outcomes: Teaching Methods: Evaluation  The learners should be able to Define and explain the characteristics and structure of a “Sanaysay.” The learners should be able to analyze an example of a Filipino essay and identify it’s main idea, supporting detail, and tone. The learners should be able to write a short essay expressing their viewpoint on a relevant topic, applying the principles of essay writing. Pre-Discussion - Ice breaker (Motivation) During-Discussion - Define sanaysay and explain its structure (introduction, body, and conclusion) - Discuss characteristics of a good essay for analysis After-Discussion - Students are divided into small groups to analyze specific paragraphs of sample essay. The students apply learning by creating their own essay. Activity 3: Artifact 1. Present a matrix to show the constructive alignment of the three components of a lesson plan. a. Example: Lesson Title: Sanaysay Subject Area: Filipino 10 Grade Level: Grade 10
