The OECD Global Competence Framework OECD ( organization for economic Co-operation and Development ) – is a unique forum where government work together to address the economic, social and environmental challenges of globalization.
Four Domains of Global Competence 24 The OECD defines global competence through four interconnected dimensions, aimed at helping individuals understand the world and interact respectfully with people from different cultures: 1. Examine Issues of Local, Global, and Cultural Significance -Students are expected to critically evaluate contemporary issues, such as climate change, migration, and inequality, from both local and global perspectives.. 2. Understand and Appreciate the Perspectives and Worldviews of Others -Promotes awareness of how diverse cultural, religious, or social backgrounds shape perspectives. -Emphasizes empathy and the importance of seeing the world through others' eyes, fostering open-mindedness.

How do we assess Global competence? 26 The global competence assessment in PISA 2018 is composed of two parts: a cognitive assessment and a background questionnaire. The cognitive assessment is designed to: Elicit students' capacities to critically examine global issues; Recognize outside influences on perspectives and world views Understand how to communicate with others in intercultural contexts Identify and compare different courses of action to address global and intercultural issues.
