This is also the center of education and research activities with many main institutions. It became one of the most prosperous and culturally rich cities in India. The City of nawabs , Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh is India's largely populated state in India. Location: Lucknow is located on the edge of the Gomti River between 26°30 ‘to 27 ° 10’ North latitude and 80 ° 30 ‘to 81 ° 13’ east longitude. Climate: Lucknow has an extreme tropical climate. Summer can be hot enough with temperatures up to 40-45º C, while winter is cold, with dipping temperatures to 3-4º C. The average annual rainfall is 1010 mm, mostly accepted during the rainy season. Gomti Nagar, it’s one of the most important and preferred business area with in the periphery of the city Lucknow along side highly residential expansion . Sewage : The city has a total of 37 nullahs along the length of the intercepting drain but only 22 are tapped so far and diverted to the older Bharwara STP for treatment. Storm Water Management: LMC has recently come up with storm water drainage management project for the areas like South City, Ashiana, Alambagh, LDA Colony Kanpur Road and Transport Nagar that often face the problem of water logging. These areas are the most flood prone spots in the city.

Notably, the period between 1981 and 1991 witnessed a considerable growth rate, followed by consistent growth in subsequent decades. Accelerated Growth in Recent Years : The population growth has accelerated in recent years. Between 2011 and 2021, there has been a remarkable increase, with the population projected to reach 34,699,333 in 2021. Significance of 2011 : The year 2011 marked a significant milestone in population growth, with the population crossing the 2 million mark and reaching 2,880,108. These population trends highlight the dynamic nature of Lucknow Urban Agglomeration, with a consistent increase in population over the years. The significant growth rate underscores the need for effective urban planning, infrastructure development, and provision of essential services to accommodate the rising population and ensure sustainable growth and quality of life for the residents. These periods witnessed notable advancements, including the establishment of the I.T. city, the provision of housing facilities, the formation of the industrial development authority, and the construction of Lucknow's first international cricket stadium, Ekana Stadium (Lucknow Development Authority, 2016). These initiatives played a crucial role in driving the city's growth, particularly in its peri-urban areas. The analysis of land use pattern is a vital aspect when studying urban expansion. Site Area: - GOMTINAGAR BABU BANARASI DAS UNIVERSITY Gomti Nagar  is an area in the Indian city of  Lucknow  consisting of both residential and business settlements. It is one of the largest and fastest-growing areas of Lucknow. It is home to high-end residential projects, malls, commercial property, plots, business centers, multiplexes, cafés, hotels, hospitals, clubs, banks, food courts and entertainment centers. The colonies in Gomti Nagar are based on a 'maximum open space' concept hence most of the plots/houses and apartments are park-facing . Gomti Nagar is situated on the banks of  Gomti , a tributary of  Ganga  which flows through Lucknow. Zone 4 under LMC (LUCKNOWMUNICIPAL CORPORATION) is Gomti Nagar consists of 8 wards i.e.

Infrastructure Development & Land Development In Gomti Nagar: Gomti Nagar is a prearranged settlement which is developed by Lucknow Development Authority (LDA ), preoccupied by the LDA in 1980s. LDA works as an independent body to fulfil the increasing demand of the housing within State. It's house from LIG to high-end premium residential projects, shopping malls, IT-parks, business property, plots, business centers, multiplexes, clubs, banks, food courts, entertainment centers, and investment institutions. Gomti Nagar is divided into: Gomti Nagar - Phase-I (Having sectors with the names of Vibhuti Khand [Commercial District Hub], Vishwas Khand, Vivek Khand, Vikas Khand, Vijay Khand, Vishal Khand, Vipin Khand, Vipul Khand, Vinay Khand, Viram Khand) Gomti Nagar - Phase - II (Having sectors with the names of Vikrant Khand, Vishesh Khand, Vijayant Khand, Vibhav Khand, Virat Khand, Vineet Khand, Viraj Khand, Vinamra Khand, Vastu Khand, Vikalp Khand) Gomti Nagar Extension . (Having sectors with the names of Sector-1, Sector-2, Sector-3, Sector-4, Sector-5, Sector-6, Sector-7) Whereas Phase-I & II have good occupancy rates of 100%, Gomti Nagar Extension is still under development with more broader roads and modern infrastructure. CONTRIBUTION OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT TO PARENT CITY The Economic Weaker Section (EWS) & Lower Income Groups (LIG) homes are mainly situated in the Vinay Khand & in 1995 beyond, people established livelihood there and high-income groups (HIG), these colonies are majorly lie in Vipul Khand of Gomti Nagar. All the basic facilities like shopping and business, schools/colleges, parks, healthcare's hospitals and dispensaries, community centers, petrol pumps, bus stop, and sports arenas like stadiums and grounds is provided by the govt agencies. All these expansion activities of peri urban exploitation and infrastructure expansion and the progress by public sector agencies which are administered with the reference to the prevailing policies of the Lucknow Development Authority. CRITICAL APPRAISAL FOR THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT TO PARENT CITY In the new area Gomti Nagar & other part of cities living residents and citizens, rated the main problems and issues with-in the area vicinity and mainly for the people's rated problems due to traffic, because the main problems within the old city vicinity, followed by sound pollution and air pollution, water pollution, which generate overcrowding graphs.
