Drilling In The Petroleum Industry
The petroleum industry has begun to shift into more challenging circumstances in
which to drill, complete, and produce hydrocarbons from the well which has largely
been due to depletion of conventional reserves present onshore overtime. In the U.S.,
the industry has particularly seen a gradual shift to development of unconventional
shale plays, including the Eagle Ford or Bakken formations, and deepwater assets
which are flanked by salt deposits. In the latter operating circumstances, which will
be focused on in this paper, the window in which safe drilling can be maintained is
significantly reduced. This is due to both the reduced fracture gradient in shallower
deepwater formations as relatively higher This template is provided to give... Show

Once a gas kick enters the well, the conventional procedures to remove this hazard
from the wellbore would be to shut in the well and to use an adjustable choke at the
surface, maintaining constant bottom hole pressure while remaining above or
exceeding the formation pressures. Furthermore, if gas has entered into the marine
risers offshore, the flow of gas through the slender choke lines could rapidly increase
the migration of the gas to the rig and endanger personnel equipment.
Conventionally, the mud gas solution has been diverted away from the rig in past
scenarios in which potential blowouts could occur. In the past, operators have
considered increasing the density of the mud to kill weight mud (KWM) and
minimizing the shut in time to be detrimental to the well due to increasing the
chances of underground blowout. As will be seen, this is certainly not the case and
the major point of focus, as will be focused on throughout this paper, should
alternatively be to develop a proactive approach to mitigate gas kicks. Analyzing the
bubble rise velocity of the gas kick in the annulus, and the multiple parameters that
affect it, could potentially result in successfully mitigating problems due to kicks in
the annulus. Underbalanced drilling refers to a scenario in which the

The Extinction Of Dinosaurs
Cribbins 1 Hook. The extinction of dinosaurs is a mystery in itself that has stumped
scientists all over the world for decades, and they still look for new answers every
day. Scientists know some background information, but cannot connect the dots to
see the bigger picture. There was little interest in the topic until Luis and Walter
Alvarez proposed a groundbreaking hypothesis, which today we call the Alvarez
Hypothesis . This new idea of the Alvarez s was exciting, and therefore got the media
talking about it, which in turn started the search of how the dinosaurs went extinct.
Another popular theory of how dinosaurs went extinct is the Volcanism Theory.
Scientists have recently found new evidence supporting both sides of this debate.
Although many dinosaurextinction theories exist, only the Alvarez Hypothesis is
correct. Scientists abase their extinction theories off one of commonly known piece
of information: that there was a change in climate around the time of the K T
boundary. Both major theories support this idea, and both believe that something
blocked out the Sun for many months. This stopped the photosynthesis in plants, the
base of the food chain. Without plants, the food chain was majorly affected. A
domino effect happened, and one species died out after another. Eventually all
species of dinosaurs died out. Scientists know that there was a global climatic
change, but are not sure how it happened. The topic of the K T Extinction received

Bviii Describe how your own work must be influenced by National factors such as
Codes of Practice, National Occupational Standards, Legislation and Government
Initiatives. Answer My work is directly impacted by all of the above every day.
Codes of Practice and Occupational Standards form our mission, vision and
values. Legislation dictates our level and quality of care. Government initiatives
impact the people we serve. For example, a code of practice in action, and in a very
general sense may be staff supporting, but also providing the tools, for individuals
to become more independent. Too much support, they would learn dependence.
Tools alone without support, they may not understand how to use them or when to
use them. Occupational Standards would be a general guide for each career
within a given field, that expresses the foundational do s and don ts for each.
Example, we would provide a minimum amount of service, documented and within
the guidelines for the individual, while if we offered additional services that are
needed and appropriate to the individual, that would be good. Laws protect for the
most part. Most laws are based on safety. So legislation that offers greater
protection for the people we serve, and laws that provide a clear expectation for staff
which if we follow judiciously, also protects us are incorporated

Hitler Propaganda And Nazi Propaganda
In a time of war, when people are needy and weak, what worked rather well for the
Nazi party to get its country back in shape was propaganda. Before World War 2
(1933 1938), the Nazis used propaganda to brainwash their citizens into believing
that Germany was the best country, to create anti Semitism. After losing the first
great war which caused a major depression in the state, Nazi s used Jewish people as
a scapegoat for Germany s suffering economy and poor moral. This idea of using
propaganda against the Jews tied into the Nazi ideology. Nazi ideology came to be
after Adolf Hitlerand others created the National Socialist German Workers Party
(NSDAP) (Alpha History 1). They called this ideology that they developed National
Socialism , which is now called Nazismtoday. This ideology was the centerpiece that
the Nazi Partymoved around. However, The NSDAP didn t have a very clear
expression of its ideology, the only documents that had concrete evidence were the
Twenty Five points (1920), and Hitler s journal, Mein Kampf (1924). (Alpha History
1). The core beliefs of the Nazi party are as shown: Authoritarianism, Totalitarianism,
Nationalism, Militarism, Expansionism, Economic sovereignty, Traditional values,
and Racialism (BBC 1 2). The effective use of propaganda; which is Defined as:
information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person,
group, movement, institution, nation, etc (Dictionary.com), was one of the main
reasons the Nazi

Invasive species have caused losses in biodiversity and shifts in ecosystem function
(Lovell et al. 2006). Under the Executive Order 13112, species are considered
invasive if they are an alien species whose introduction does or is likely to cause
economic or environmental harm or harm to human health. Aquatic invasive species
have been intentionally and unintentionally introduced to other parts of the world
through the transportation and release of ballast water, pet trade and aquaculture
(Keller et al. 2011, Rahel and Olden 2008). Examples of aquatic invaders throughout
the world include the Topmouth Gudgeon (Pseudorasbora parva) in the United

Zoos And The Conservation Of Animals
A family is enjoying a trip to their local zoo when they stop to look at the tigers.
The child sprints over to exhibit with excitement; he notices a red sign stuck the
glass of the enclosure which reads, Endangered. Daddy, if the zoo is keeping the
tigers in a cage in order to save them, when will they let them back into the wild to
live free? Based on statistics from public zoosacross America, the unfortunate answer
to this question is a resounding Never. It has become noticeably evident that zoos are
not a current resource for the protection of rare and endangered species. Animals
should not be kept in zoos, because they fail at the conservation of animalspecies,
provide little or no education about habitat and the behavior of animals, and harm the
animals physically and mentally.
Primarily, zoos fail at the conservation of animal species. Zoos claim that certain
species would become extinct if places like zoos did not exist, but they ultimately
fail at the conservation of animal species. Animals who are endangered will likely
never be released back into natural habitats ( Zoos: Pitiful Prisons par. 9). The Author
of Captive Animal Protection Society states, Many zoos have no contact of any kind
with any reintroduction program, meaning that once the animals are introduced to
zoos, they are likely to remain there. One U.S. study found no compelling evidence
for zoos and aquariums to make the claim that they promote interest of conservation
upon conversing with

Comparative Education
France has a highly organized educational system, which is divided into primary,
secondary and tertiary (college) education. Primary and secondary education is
usually imparted at public schools although a strong network of private schools also
exists. All educational programs in France are regulated by the Ministry of National
Education.
Schooling in France is mandatory as of age 6, the first year of primary school while
secondary education consists of collГЁge for the first four years after primary school
and the lycГ©e for the next three years. The baccalaurГ©at is the end of lycГ©e
diploma that students must attain and is comparable to British A Levels and
American SATs. Students have a choice of sitting for the baccalaurГ©at gГ©nГ©ral

Under the pressure of a massive rise in number pupils in middle and high schools,
project pedagogy was presented as a possible solution to meeting the needs of the
diversity of pupils, addressing their individual needs, and developing pupil autonomy
(GinestiГ©, 2002). It was in this context, in 1985, that technology education was
introduced in France as a part of science and technology education in elementary
schools, as a new subject for all pupils in middle schools and as an optional subject
in high schools. We can note four stages of organization of technology education
between 1985 and today.
1.1.2 1985 1991: the implementation of the first curriculum
Technology education was conceived of as a new subject and took the place of
MTE (manual and technical education) in terms of hours, classrooms, and teachers.
The curriculum emphasized the industrial environment, leaving little room for home
economics and craftsmanship (COPRET, 1984). It had two different elements that
made these references plain. On the one hand, the general part of the course described
the overall goals, context, and aims of technology education in France.
The aims were in terms of pupils attitudes towards technology (as related in many
papers, e.g. de Vries, 1994; Jones, 1997; Compton amp; Jones, 1998; Gardner amp;
Hill,
1999; Dugger, 2000) and in terms of the social and professional world of industrial
production (this idea can also be found in many papers

Gender Diversity Case Study
Introduction
Diversity can be defined as the differences among the people working in the same
workplace. Those differences can be related to gender, race, religion, marital status,
sexual orientation, culture or personalities.
Managing diversity within organisation is about recognising this range of
differences in people and valuing people as individuals, respecting their differences
and their differing needs. It is also about accommodating differences wherever
possible so that an individual can play a full part in the working environment
(Daniels and Macdonald, 2005)

Abstract Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) play main role in the design and
development of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) who improves the road
safety and transportation productivity. VANETs include two communication types i.e.
Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Roadside (V2R) communications. One of
the most important challenges of this kind of network are the timely, safely and
reliable dissemination of messages between vehicular nodes which permits the
drivers to take appropriate decisions to improve the road safety. There are many
routing protocols for VANETs which can support the reliability and safety for
routing. These protocols undergo the several limitations including complexity, lack
of scalability, end to end delay, routing overheads, etc. To remove these limitations,
various bio inspired methodologies have been proposed for routing among vehicular
nodes in an optimized way. Here in this paper, various bio inspired routing algorithms
for the VANET are discussed.

Project Management Of The Project
The proposal writing process is multifaceted, encompassing both the actual
submission of a request for proposal as well as the management of the
implementation of received funds. Through class lectures and assigned readings, we
ve discussed the various aspects that make up the process of grant writing. Through
this essay, I will explain this process as it leads up the management of the project
once funded. Furthermore, this essay will explain how to ensure that the proposal
submitted addresses key aspects necessary for the project to be implemented in line
with best practices for project management. A grant is a monetary award of financial
assistance (Neitzey, 2016). Grants are typically awarded for the purpose of providing

Provided the fact that proposals are the gateway to grant funding, there are a few keys
to ensuring that an organization submits a successful proposal. The first step is to
document an unmet community need that the grant seeker is in a position to address
(Neitzey, 2016). By demonstrating that a problem exists, organizations are more
likely to explain who will benefit should the project be funded. Furthermore, by
highlighting the problem, the organization is more capable of articulating the overall
impact the project will have on those who are negatively impacted by the lack of a
project addressing the problem. The second step is to demonstrate a clear plan for the
program (Neitzey, 2016). Once developed, the plan successfully articulates the
organization s ability to identify themselves as a unique, yet impactful organization.
Essentially, the plan is to show that the organization has the necessary resources to
successfully end or minimize the problem discussed earlier in the proposal. The third
step is to thoroughly research funders, competitors, and potential partners (Neitzey,
2016). Perhaps this is the most important step, due to the fact that without the funding
there will still be a need in the community. However, when organizations are seeking
funding, they should rely on funding that align with their mission. By doing so, they
are not mission drifting, and they are applying for funds

Sigmund Freud And Karl Marx
Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx, a psychologist and philosopher who both has strong
functionalist views on religion. Although Freud and Marx were not alive and
working at the same time, they shared many of the same views. Freud focused on
how religion affected ones mind, and related it to his theory or the ego and the id, or
the conscious and unconscious mind. Marx, on the other hand, focused on how
religionwas used in the terms of a communist society and how religion was used by
those who were not happy with their current state of life. While having similarities
Freud and Marx also had their differences. Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx, are two
theorist of religions who tied in their own views and works to create their own
functionalist theories of religion. Sigmund Freud was born in Austria in 1856, to a
Jewish family. He grew up learning many languages and later studied anatomy and
physiology, and would go on to become a famous psychologist. In Freud s life he
would meet Josef Breuer, who would become a close friend and influence in his
later work. Freud developed his opinion of religion later in life. Through out his life,
Freud studied the human mind and the difference between the ego and the id.
Sigmund Freud s medical training and medical studies through out his life, helped
him to create his theory of religion. Sigmund Freud s theory religion started within
the individual and later spread to the society. Freud at one point was considered to be
one of the fathers of

First, I chose this case because of the reverberation of Charles Manson and his
crimes. I first had knowledge of the Charles Manson case after it was referenced in
the TV show, Criminal Minds, after a cult killed 7 people.
Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Manson s life
of crime started from as young as 10 years old. His first crime was robbing a liquor
store in his home town. During his youth, he was continually sent to juvenile
detention centers. However, time and time again he escaped and committed more
petty crimes. In 1952, he was sent to the Federal Reformatory in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Up until 1966, Manson was constantly in and out of prison. He was finally released
from Terminal Island in 1967.
Once out of prison, Manson made his to San Francisco with his early followers,
including Mary Brunner and about 19 other women. This was the beginning of
Manson s cult, The Manson Family. The Family later relocated to Spahn s Movie
Ranch. After hearing The Beatles White Album, Manson was convinced that the song
Helter Sketler prophesied a race war between Africans Americans Caucasians. His
plan was to hide underground in Death Valley, California during the war, in which the
Africans would be victorious in. However, he said the African Americans would not

This time the target was Terry Melcher, an old acquaintance of Manson. Susan
Atkins, Linda Kasabian and Patricia Krenwinkel were sent to enact the murder at
Melcher s house. However, the Melchers had moved out and instead Sharon Tate,
who was a famous actress at the time, her unborn child and three others who were
visiting were killed. The Tate murders received national recognition. Atkins, Kasabian
and Krenwinkel were identified as the killers and after an eight month trial, they were
all sentenced to death. However, in 1972, the death penalty was abolished in
California so their punishments were overturned to life

Character Analysis Of Enron
Enron was an educational production about the infamous business scandal of the
American energy corporation. Enron was originally written by Lucy Prebble,
directed by Rodney Lee Rodgers, and produced by the College of Charleston s
Department of Theatre and Dance. An interesting story enfolds about the tremendous
scandal during the 2000 s which led to the inevitable downfall of the company and
leader, Jeffery Skilling. Rodgers emphasized the corruption of money and the
plummet of a once powerful man, Jeffery Skilling, Enronrequired some level of
knowledge about the historical scandal and the stock market. The audience endured
three hours of this business production. With little knowledge or interest in business
and corporations, I personally struggled to connect with the cast and stay in touch
with the plot because of the many distractions dancing about the stage. However, the
acting, set design, and the direction produced a wonderful, informative production.
Primarily, the cast, overall, was hard to connect with on a deeper level. The actress
who particularly stood out from the rest was Hayden Haring as Claudia Roe. She
showcased a powerful, intelligent woman who often stayed in the shadows due to
patriarchy. As a female in society today, this character was the only one I truly felt
pity. On the other hand, Skilling;s daughter played by Erin Cooper made me
increasingly uncomfortable. She was overly sexualized to the audience when the
character is supposed to pu ll the

There had been none like him, and there will be none to come. Jimi Hendrix
revolutionized the way guitar and music in general is played. It is rare to hear a
modern guitarist play and not sense Hendrix s influence. Jimi Hendrix was a mirror
of his era in that he epitomized the sex, drugs, and rock and roll life style of the late

Biblical Allusions In If This Is A Man By Primo Levi
In the memoir If This Is A Man Primo Levi offers an insight into his life during the
brutal and inhuman acts inflicted upon the Jews by the SS Soldiers during the
Holocaust. Levi tells the story of his experiences in the Auschwitz concentration
camp, and the divisions between his fellow haftlinge and the German soldiers due to
the significant differences between languageand culture. The results of extreme anti
Semitism led to the dehumanisation and de socialization of the prisoners, who often
had limited understanding of the soldiers intentions. Further, the prisoners were
largely segregated due to the diverse nationalities, religions, and ethnicities. The
prisoners were stripped of all possessions and their loved ones, though one facet that

Dante is in the 8th circle of hell and encounters Ulysses, who retells his final voyage
past the Pillars of Hercules, and into the oceans unknown. The links made between
the story and the prisoners circumstances are very similar. The idea of voyaging into
the oceans unknown, describes the prisoners uncertainty of their future, and the
author uses this literary text to symbolise this. Levi also relates Auschwitz to hell and
this enforces the feeling of being destroyed by the perversity of their captors, enabling
Jean to empathize with him, despite the wan translation...He has received the

The Role of the Fool in Twelfth Night by William...
The Role of the Fool in Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
In English Literature, a fool is a person professionally counterfeits folly for the
entertainment of others. They are always regarded as comic figures, which provide
mediation under tensional circumstances. As Twelfth Night is an atypical romantic
comedy, the jester is not the only fool who is subject to foolery, many other
characters are subject to foolery by their silly acts as well. There are two types of fool
in the play, namely Feste the professional jester who is in fact quite intelligent, and
the non jester fools, who are not fools but act like fools. Since Feste is the only

Although Feste does not make any profound remarks, he seems to be the wisest
person among all the characters in the comedy. Viola remarks this by saying This
fellow s wise enough to play the fool .
Feste contributes to the comedy in the play. Despite the humour of the comedy,
Feste dresses up as Sir Topaz, the preist and visits the imprisoned Malvolio with
Maria and Sir Toby. Sir Topaz uses his humour to abuse Malvolio, who is still
unaware that he is actually talking to the Feste than to the real Sir Topas. Feste
calls Malvolio a lunatic , satan and confuses him by wittingly making him a fool,
Then you are mad indeed, if you be no better in your wits than a fool Feste plays on
Malvolio s words and triumphs over him by twisting his words to make him look
foolish. Enraged by his poor treatment he says he will revenge on the all, I ll be
revenged on the whole pack of you which is again amusing as the audience would
know that Malvolio is even more egotistical since then.
Feste is not only a jester, but also a corrupter of language. As Viola says, this fellow
is more than just a clown , he must know the humour of whom he jests , Feste knows

Essay on Professional Wrestling
Professional Wrestling
Watching a well built young man take a death defying fifteen foot leap through a
wooden table onto another man s prone body can be a thrilling experience. The fact
is if you are a fan of professional wrestling today you have grown used to these stunts
as if they weren t as spectacular as they sound.
Professional wrestling s recent boom in popularity began in the late 90 s, but unlike
it s past success it is not as safe as once was. While all theatrics the stunts have
continued to push the limits to levels that have never been seen before. The results of
this constant risktaking can be seen in the early retirements of many of pro wrestling
s brightest stars and rookies who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this they also began to appreciate a new style of wrestling, a wrestling
labeled as extreme wrestling.
Extreme wrestling was not your typical wrestling match in which the gladiators
would exchange moves and holds as they built the match to it s climax. In this type of
wrestling, the competitors had replaced the generic moves with high impact moves,
steel chairs, barbed wire, wooden tables, and jumps and falls that resemble movie
stunts.
This new type of wrestling has been criticized as being just as dangerous to an
athlete s health as steroids were to them in the past. This type of wrestling has caused
many of the upcoming wrestlers to become myths and legends before they even make
it to television.
One great example of this is a wrestler known as Mick Foley. Foley never had
physique or looks to be a professional wrestler. Instead, Mick had a high threshold
for pain and a great sense of humor. For Mick this ended up being a winning
combination in the world of wrestling. He went on to become one of the most
beloved stars of all time but not before 17 years in wrestling destroyed both his
body and mind. Mick s list of career injuries is like a lesson in human anatomy. He
has incurred a broken his cheekbone, jaw ,right wrist, nose (twice), left thumb, five
ribs, and left toes. Mick has also seperated his right shoulder, herniated two

Gaucher Disease Types I, II, IIi
Gaucher Disease Types I, II, III
Gaucher Disease is a type of lysosomal storage disorder. The importance is that they
are meant to keep everything in order. Lysosomes are microscopic organelles that
have a primary function to serve as digestion compartments. According to Davidson,
(1) lysosomes help break down many different materials such as fats, proteins, waste
products, and more to transfer those compounds to become new cell building
materials . Consequentially, making lysosomes an important factor to our daily
functions in life. Lysosomal storage diseases form due to the modification of
lysosomal enzymes. The diseases can be metabolically inherited through gene
mutation. In Lysosomal Storage Disease , Michael Kruer (2) claims that, ... Show

In fact type two and three effect the brain and spinal cord becoming very serious.
In contrast, Type three is not as quick to become evident in young children. Similar
to type one, type three can show up later in childhood, and take longer to progress
into worse symptoms. Sadly, infants that are proscribed with type two disease
normally don t live to see the age of three. Type two disease quickly takes effect
over a person, not allowing the chance for growth into adulthood. The most severe
Gaucher s disease is Perinatal lethal, which can kill an infant in a matter of days
after being born. The causes for Perinatal lethal, according to Web MD (3) are, too
much fluid in baby s body before or after being born, dry skin, enlarged liver and
spleen, and severe brain and spinal cord problems. Because of these problems an
infant will not be capable of having much of a chance to grow and mature, due to the
weakness of being a fragile newborn.
Ages that symptoms begin, normally vary due to what type of disorder the person
has. The main problem with lysosome diseases are that they are genetically
inherited. Which means, that mothers and fathers genetically carry some type of
disorder and pass it down to their children. Because of this being caused by genetics,
symptoms will normally begin based upon what type of disorder that is inherited.
Which makes it hard to know at what age symptoms will

Church and Religion in the Songs of Innocence and

Church and Religion in the Songs of Innocence and Experience
Throughout Innocence and Experience, many poems incorporate religious views and
imagery. Blake presents many contradicting views on the Church and religion, the
contrast being particularly clear between Innocence and Experience.
Within the Songs of Innocence a child like portrayal of Church and religion is
portrayed. Throughout Innocence there are many references to The Lamb
representing Jesus Christ who was the
Sacrificial Lamb, as shown in the poem The Lamb. Another common image of
religion used by Blake is that of religion as the Shepherd, the Shepherd is watchful
and ever watching over his sheep, protecting them, Blake is showing religion as ...

Through this,
Blake is showing the hypocrisy of religion, a theme commonly shown throughout
Experience.
Throughout Innocence a simple, child like portrayal of religion is explored. This
could show Blake as primarily a religious poet as there are common, simple themes
running throughout many of his poems in
Innocence. This simple view of both Christ and religion contrasts the complex
metaphors used to represent religion in Innocence.
Within many poems in Experience images of religion are juxtaposed to those of dew
which represents materialism. This is used to show the corruptness of the images of
the Church and religion as being simple and ever present. Throughout the songs of
Innocence there are not many ongoing themes, there is only one on going theme, that
of the
Church being ever present. In Experience many other themes are present, such as
materialism, giving a more complex image.
In Introduction the ancient trees are used to represent the forests of materialism. The
Holy Word is portrayed as walking through this field of materialism, showing that
when not in a form of exaggerated innocence, religious values and ways of life can
become lost and confused within everyday life. The structure of The Songs

territories around it; the source of artistic, intellectual, and cultural ascendancy; the
influential factor of brilliance in so many of the coexisting societies of the western
world was truly the predecessor and creator of all Western Civilization to come.
However, what no one knew, was that the lasting impression this powerful and

Silk soon became an imperial monopoly, and through this way, the trade of luxury
items became the Byzantine s main source of income. The location of Constantinople
also aided in military conquest and defence, for the empire s naval headquarters
were located along the shores, and had access to the Black Sea and Mediterranean.
Because of the Empire s location, all but overlapping the fallen Roman s territory, the
Byzantine Empire was greatly affected by these Roman s past traditions and ways of
life.
The Roman Empire influenced the Byzantine Empire s culture, mainly through the
religion of Christianity. Christianity first appeared in the Roman Empire, with the
birth, teachings, and supposed resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the beginning years of
it s arrival, Christianity was not tolerated and Christians were mainly, and most often
brutally prosecuted. However, with Constantine s Edict of Milan, Christianity was
officially tolerated, and under Theodosius, it became the official religion of the
Roman Empire. The Byzantine Empire inherited this relatively new religion,
continuing to follow the beliefs and traditions of the church, as well as spreading the
word of Jesus Christ and the message of god. Churches sprung up in the empire, such
as the mighty Hagia Sophia. Located in Constantinople and built by Justinian, this
church especially exemplified

Shortcomings with regards to the workplace are a result of poor supervision and the
need for employees to be made more aware of the consequences of their actions by
managers, supervisors and their peers alike. Removal of objects causing obstructions
or increasing risk of slips, trips and falls is mostly a supervisory responsibility.
These included unsuitable rugs, PPE storage and used pallets (5, 16, 24 amp; 27).
There were instances where simple, inexpensive alterations and consultation by

because the experimenter has experienced many times going to Beachboard after the

of the final tests. The experimenter could only go to MyCSULB to look for the

Sophocles Oedipus The King
Inability to Escape Fate Many people believe that fate has planned out their lives
and despite efforts on their part what was meant to happen, will eventually happen.
This belief has been handed down over the centuries from some of the first
civilizations, such as the Greeks. However, not all Greek citizens wanted destiny to
take control of their lives. Some decided to choose freewill over the will of the gods.
In Oedipusthe King, Sophocleswrites a cautionary tale meant to warn the doubters in
Greek society that regardless of their beliefs in gods and prophecies, it is necessary
to heed their warnings. Oedipus, Jocasta, and Laius are Sophocles characters that
prove that escaping one s fate is not possible, as each of their predicted fates is
realized despite extensive efforts to thwart them. It is difficult to hear bad news
and often people will do whatever it takes to change the outcome. Most women do
not want to lose their husband or their child. When the priests of Apollo came to
Jocasta and claimed, Laius was fated to die by the hand of his son, a son to be born
to him and to me, (Sophocles 41) Jocasta naturally wanted to save the man she
loved. Jocasta gave Oedipus to her servant and told him to leave him out on the
mountain with his ankles pinned together. She believed she had defied the Gods and
thwarted the prophecy by killing her son. As she tells the story to Oedipus she says,
Don t pay any attention to prophecies. If God seeks or needs anything, he will

Asa Score Essay
Our study validates that the Perioperative Risk Assessment Score using patient s
characteristics and urgency of the surgical procedure can reliably predict
postoperative mortality. In addition, we show that despite a good prediction of
mortality, the ASA score has a large range of intervariability that may limit its use
as shown in figure 4. Developed in 1941, the American Society of
Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification was created to establish a scoring system (I
to V) for the evaluation of a patient s general health and comorbidities immediately
before an operative procedure. (Sakad, Keats) This score is designed to identify
surgical patients at risk for developing postoperative complications, taking into
account the patient s physical state and neglecting the surgical impact (type,
complexity and urgency). It has been established as a significant predictive factor
for perioperative risk assessment, perioperative mortality, complication rates, and
postoperative outcomes in multiple surgical specialties. ( Menke, Wolters, Prause,
Conners) Similarly, our data shows a good predictability of mortality by the ASA
PS. It has undergone slight modification by the ASA to a scale of 6 numbers and is
now widely used for preoperative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the ASA PS has a wide variability leading to inconsistencies between
anesthesiologists that may lead to incorrect clinical assessment and over or under
estimation of financial revenue. (Haynes, Owens). Levels of agreement between
anesthesiologist for the ASA PS classes range from 40% to 60%. (Mak) In other
words, they are equally likely to disagree or agree on a particular ASA class for a
patient. The wide range of variability is shown in figure 4. Therefore, although the
ASA PS score can be predictive of mortality and outcomes, its variability calls for a
more precise risk assessment score similar to the BAL.

Difference Between Actus Reus And Mens Rea
INTRODUCTION
Actus reus and mens rea are the two most fundamental element necessary to prove
that a crime is committed However, some crimes such as those which fall under the
strict liability category does not require a proof of mens rea. It is said that within the
actus reus, there must be both a voluntary act and a consequent result. There are,
however, some exceptions to the voluntary act requirement known as omissions. This
essay will focus on the duties of care under which the actus reus of a crime can be
committed through omission. However, there are some crimes that cannot be
committed through omission e.g. assault and constructive manslaughter.
Generally speaking the law punishes positive act. However, when an omission
contributes to an offence and a duty to act can be established, criminal liability can
occur. Some countries such as the United States of America have what is known as

Genetically Modified Organisms And Its Effects
Genetically modified organisms has affected 50% of children in the United States
to suffer chronic diseases, and 21% of children to have developmental disorders.
This epidemic stems from the fact that GMOs cause damage to nature and
humanity by destroying ecosystems, by being toxic when eaten, and by spreading
its genes to organisms that has not yet been modified genetically. One of the most
important ways that GMOs hurt nature is by reproducing with non genetically
modified organisms. When GMOs reproduce with non GMOs, the modified genes
are transferred to their offspring. Because of this, more species will possess traits
that the GMOs had, and create an imbalance of organisms in an environment.
Scientists have done countless studies on how GMOs can spread their genes to
pests. In the article, The Precautionary Principle Applied to Deliberate Release of
Genetically Modified Organisms , the authors comment, Novel genes in
plants...might escape and be transferred to weedy relatives or other crops by
[pollination] (Myhr and Traavik 68). This quote proves that the diffusion of genes
to other organisms is possible. These two authors go on to explain the effects of
having GMOs in an environment. GMOs may accidentally harm an ecology by
being superior to other life and by causing an imbalance of creatures (Myhr and
Traavik 68). This statement shows some of the effects that GMOs can do to nature.
Furthermore, when a plant is genetically modified, it is able to pollinate vast

The Studies Of Music And How It May Not Help The
Alzheimer...
In order to understand how the studies of music and how it may or may not help the
Alzheimer s disease (AD) one would need the background of it. AD is a progressive
neurological disease that leads to deterioration in cognitive abilities. People with AD
encounter a progressive decline in their neurological capabilities, which manifest in
languagedeficits, among other cognitive difficulties. The main failures in speech
include naming difficulties, verbal fluency deficit, comprehension problems, and
deterioration of spontaneous speech. People with AD tend to have discourse deficits,
which include empty phrases, indefinite words, and repetitions. The speech of a
person with the deficits is difficult for an interlocutor to follow. Thus, theses
progressive language failures can lead people with AD to isolation. Due to their
progressive inability to communicate, people with AD need interventions that address
their communication needs and help prevent social isolation (Dass, A., Amir, D.
2014).
Increased social interaction can improve quality of life by enabling people with AD
to remain socially engaged. Communication trainings include active instruction such
as role playing and analyzing video observations of conversations with people with
AD. Computer based systems are also used, providing multimedia stimuli.
Reminiscence therapy uses the intact long term memory that enabling people with
AD to engage in a conversation about their past experiences (Dass, A., Amir, D.

Comparing Opera Seria to Orfeo Ed Euridice by Gluck
and...
Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck, was written in 1762 and The Marriage of Figaro by
Mozart was written in 1786. It is interesting to analyse the changes and developments
from opera seria to these two examples.
During the eighteenth century, composers wrote in a style of opera called opera
seria. Opera seria had the following characteristics:
They used similar plots involving a hero and usually some sort of conflict of human
passions, and these operas were often based on a story from an ancient Greek or
Latin Author. The opera always consisted of three acts with alternating recitatives and
arias. To show the virtuosic skill of the singer, cadenzas were used within arias. The
action was created from the dialogue within the recitatives, ... Show more content on

There were also stricter demands of the solo singers. The two mid eighteenth century
composers, Jomelli and Traetta played a big part in the reform of Italian opera in the
late 18th century by influencing the French towards opera of a more international
flavour.
Born in Bohemia, Gluck built a more international style of opera. He was strongly
affected by the movement of the reform in the 1750s. He became court composer
to the Emperor at Vienna after visits to London and studying under Samartini in
Italy. After a collaboration with a poet named Raniero Calzabigi, Gluck composed
two of his famous operas, `Orfeo ed Euridice in 1762 and `Alceste in 1767. Gluck s
aims were to remove the unpopular characteristics of opera seria, as shown by his
famous quote:
To confine music to its proper function of serving the poetry for the expression and
the situations of the plot
He removed the overuse of da capo aria or the showing off desire of the singer; he
also broke down the contrast of the recitative and aria and gave his opera more
dramatic relevance than had been the case in opera seria:
I believed that my greatest effort should be directed to seek in a beautiful simplicity
...and there is no accepted rule that I have not thought should be gladly sacrificed in
favour of effectiveness.
One important way, in which Gluck reformed opera, was the use of his choruses as

INTRODUCTION
Understanding what research is in the first place aids in the knowing what its key
aspects are. Understanding entails critically going through the various definitions of
research to see some similarities regarding what research seems to address. It must
also be taken into consideration that there are types of research that exist for example
historical research, artistic research, and scientific research (Wikipedia, 2010).
To look into the definitions of research, we would start with the recommended book
for this module Projects in Computing and Information Systems (second edition) by
Christian Dawson (2009). The definition found in this book even though it is a
definition by the Higher Education Funding Council for England ... Show more

Dawson, 2009). The difference in approach could be in the form of use of different
tools, techniques, and utilization of available data just to mention a few. With a vast
number of fields of study and quite a number of researchers investigating into those
fields, originality in the form of doing what has never been done can be of
importance to world knowledge even though it seems to be the most difficult type of
research to embark on as far as originality is concerned.
Methodology or Systematic
Research is not something that is done without consideration of the existing
knowledge about the subject in question, methods of going about the research and
so on. The process in which research is done methodological therefore knowledge
about how to go about it is important. A very good example of this is the Research
Methods Training which we currently undergoing in order to understand how to go
about research as far as the Dissertation module is concerned.
Contribution (Knowledge)
Knowledge is a high level of understanding of things (C. Dawson, 2009). It is the use
of information obtained from data in understanding why or how certain things
happen. Even though it reflects a personal interpretation of what is obtained from
information, knowledge in the world can be seen in books, journals, models, theories
and concepts. Adding to

Marie Sklodowski Research Paper
Marie Sklodowski was born on November 7, 1867 in Warsaw, Poland. Both of her
parents were educators and believed that their daughters should be just as educated
as their sons. Marie graduated high school at the age of 15 and was the top of her
class. She wished to attend college to study science but was unable to in her home
town because the University of Warsawdid not accept women. She was, however,
able to enroll at Sorbonne in Paris. In 1893 Marie earned her Master s degree in
physics, and again graduated first in her class. She also earned a degree in
mathematics in 1894. Marie married Pierre Curiein the summer of 1895. They met at
the Municipal School of Industrial Physics and Chemistry. Together, they studied
deeper into radioactivity.

The Power Of The Grotesque
The Power of the Grotesque in Literature It is often said that beauty is within the eye
of its beholder. A statement this broad, begs the question, what is the true definition
of beauty? Writers such as Sherwood Anderson and Thomas Mann depict the beauty
of life through the usage of the grotesque. The grotesque is used to reveal the
absolute truthand reality of humanity. However, no matter how terrifying these truths
may be, it is evident that the messages depicted and the passion evoked through them
are truly beautiful. Winesburg, Ohio is a collection of short stories by Sherwood
Anderson. The episodic stories have a wide range of character types and messages
and yet, they all share the common theme of the grotesque. Similarly, Death in Venice
the novella by Thomas Mannfollows a burdened artist, Gustave Aschenbach who
struggles with repressed desires that are slowly liberated throughout the story. Both
Anderson and Mann use the grotesque to explain the true nature of society, their
characters, and to evoke emotion from their readers especially through the theme of
obsession.
In order to truly understand the grotesque and its usage, readers must first know its
complex history, meaning, and usage. Due to its wide range of usage, the definition
of grotesque changed numerous times throughout history. In literary uses, it can be
defined as an expression of the estranged or alienated world...an attempt to control
and exorcise the demonic elements in the world (Thomson).
