What is an Adjective? An adjective is a word that describes or modifies a noun or pronoun. Examples: - The red apple is sweet. - She is a kind teacher.

Why Do We Use Adjectives? Make communication clearer and more vivid Help visuali s e descriptions Add emotion, detail, and precision Example: Without adjectives: The boy ran. With adjectives: The tall, energetic boy ran quickly.

Types of Adjectives 1. Descriptive 2. Quantitative 3. Demonstrative 4. Possessive 5. Interrogative 6. Distributive 7. Indefinite 8. Comparative & Superlative

Descriptive Adjectives Describe qualities of a noun. Examples: - A beautiful garden - The angry dog barked

Quantitative Adjectives Tell us how much or how many. Examples: - I have three apples (three tells how many) - There isn’t enough water

Demonstrative Adjectives Point out specific nouns. Examples: - This book is mine - I prefer those shoes

Possessive Adjectives Show ownership /possession. Examples: - This is my pen - Our house is big

Interrogative Adjectives Used in questions. Examples: - Which subject do you like most? - What colour is your bag? - Whose pen is this?

Distributive Adjectives Refer to individuals in a group. Examples: - Each learner received a certificate - Every child must participate

Indefinite Adjectives Describe nouns in a general way. Examples: - Do you have any money? - Some people like tea

Comparative & Superlative Used for comparison. Examples: - This road is longer than that one (comparative) - This is the longest road (superlative)

Quick Activity Identify adjectives: 1. The clever student answered correctly 2. I bought two red dresses 3. Which car is faster?

Activity Pick 3 flashcards from the provided, explain each adjective on the flashcard State which type of an adjective it is. Explain/define that type of adjective - And lastly, w rite 3 sentences using the three types of adjectives that you got.
