VOLLEY BALL Borcelle
Santiago Prado
Javiera Ruiz
Hansell LatinoMIEMBROS
CONVERSATION Santiago: Hey guys, have you ever played
volleyball before? I’ve been watching some
matches lately, and it looks really fun!
Javiera: Yeah, I love volleyball! It’s such a fast and
energetic sport. It was actually invented in 1895 by
William G. Morgan in the United States.
Hanssell: Really? I didn’t know it was that old! How
did it start?
Santiago: Morgan created it as a mix between
basketball, tennis, and handball. He wanted a game
that was less physical contact than basketball but
still active.
Hanssell: That’s so cool! And now it’s played all over
the world, right? I know it became an Olympic sport
too.
Javiera: Yes, volleyball became part of the Olympic
Games in 1964. Later, beach volleyball was added in
1996.CONVERSATION
CONVERSATION
Javiera: So, how exactly do you play it? I only know the
basics — you have to hit the ball over the net.
Santiago: Basically, two teams of six players are
separated by a net. Each team can hit the ball up to three
times before sending it over. The goal is to make the ball
land on the other team’s court.
Hansell: And you can’t hold the ball — just bump, set, or
spike it, right?
CONVERSATION
Borcelle
Javiera: Exactly! The main moves are the serve, the pass (or bump), the set,
the spike, and the block. It’s all about teamwork and timing.
Hansell: Wow, it sounds like such a good workout too — jumping, diving,
and reacting quickly.
Santiago: Totally! It builds coordination, strength, and communication.
That’s why I love team sports like this.
CONVERSATION Javiera: We should try playing sometime!
There’s a beach court near the park —
perfect for a weekend game.
Santiago: I’m in! Let’s see if we can score
some real points!
Hansell: Definitely i'm in too!
