DESCRIBING TEACHERS’ EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT AS BASIS FOR CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN Mark Kevin A. Vidar Adviser Rosana F. Francisco Researcher

INTRODUCTION Classroom management and students' misbehavior are two primary issues majority of teachers deal with in the classroom. According to Jeloudar et al., emotional intelligence is one of the factors that affect behavior management in the classroom. Igloria (2014) said that this can be a reference to a student's emotional quotient. Coleman (2008) defines emotional quotient as having the capacity to keep track of one's own and other people's emotions, to recognize and categorize various emotions in the proper context, and to use emotional information to influence decisions and actions. Understanding individual variances in relation to this Emotional Quotient is crucial. In the past, schools have placed more emphasis on students' IQs and academic accomplishments while paying less attention to the emotional influences on teaching and learning, which are crucial for a complete understanding of the learners. During district meetings and seminars, teachers from Kakawate National High School and Sto. Cristo National High School, SDO City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan often get together and exchange their thoughts. Teachers had the opportunity to discuss their common issues at the most recent district Gender and Development (GAD) conference. The majority mentioned psychological and social issues. There was no mention of the emotional component of classroom management. Thus, the proponent believes it is timely and pertinent to suggest a study on emotions, emotion-management, and teachers' emotional quotient as a potential foundation for effective classroom management based on the supposition that emotions, in addition to personality and intelligence, play a significant role in children's academic, personal, and social lives. Hence, this inspired and encouraged the researcher to construct and submit this study as a result of the circumstances at the SDO City of San Jose del Monte regarding the effort to holistically develop Junior High School students through the emotional intelligence of the teachers.
