Aim Of Study :- Characterization of wound healing potential of aloevera gel containing cream. Objective of study :- The objective of this project is to design Aloe Vera cream.
Need For Study :- The name aloe vera was derived from the Arabic word “ Alloeh ”, meaning a “shining bitter substance” and vera came from the Latin word “ vera ”, meaning “true”. The plant belongs to the Asphodelaceae ( Liliaceae ) family. Aloe vera leaf has three main layers. 1. Inner Layer :- There is an inner gel containing 99% water, and the remaining part made of amino acids, glucomannans , sterols, lipids, and vitamins.
2. Middle Layer :- The middle layer is made of latex, which is a yellow sap containing glycosides and anthraquinones . 3. Outer Layer :- Lastly, the outer layer is composed of 15 to 20 cells dubbed as rind. It works by protecting the inner part of the leaf and at the same time, synthesizes proteins and carbohydrates. Some Benefits are :- It has antioxidant and antibacterial properties. It may improve skin and prevent from wrinkles. It accelerates wound healing properties.
Methodology :- Method 1 :- Heat liquid paraffin and beeswax in a borosilicate glass beaker at 75℃ and maintain that heating temperature. (Oil phase). In another beaker, dissolve borax, methylparaben in distilled water and heat this beaker to 75 ℃ to dissolve borax and methylparaben and to get a clear solution (Aqueous phase). Then slowly add this aqueous phase to heated oily phase . Then add a measured amount of aloe Vera gel stir vigorously until it forms a smooth cream. Then add few drops of rose oil as a fragrance.
Put this cream on the slab and add few drops of distilled water if necessary and mix the cream in a geometric manner on the slab to give a smooth texture to the cream and to mix all the ingredients properly. This method is called as slab technique or extemporaneous method of preparation of cream.
Extraction processes :- Aloe Vera Mature, healthy and fresh aloe Vera leaves were collected and washed with distilled water. Then after proper drying of leaves in hot air oven, the outer part of the leaf was dissected longitudinally using a sterile knife. Then the aloe Vera gel that is the colorless parenchymatous tissue was removed using the sterile knife. Then it is filtered using muslin cloth to remove the fibers and impurities. Then the filtrate or the filter product which is a clear aloe Vera gel was used in the preparation.
Ingredients :- S.no Ingredients Roles 1 Aloe vera Anti-ageing, anti-inflammatory, moisturizer, reduce acne and pimples. 2 Beeswax Emulsifying a gent , stabilizer and gives thickness to the cream. 3 Liquid paraffin Lubricating agent
4 Borax Alkaline agent which reacts with emulsifying agent to form soap 5 Methylparaben Preservative 6 Rose oil Fragrance
Method 2 :- Oil in water (O/W) emulsion, (semisolid formulation) is formulated. The stearic acid cetyl alcohol and almond oil are dissolved in the oil phase and these are heated To 75°C. this is part A. The water-soluble components like methylparaben , triethanolamine , propylparaben , Aloe Vera extract are dissolved in an aqueous phase and it is heated up to 75°C this is Part B. After heating, the aqueous phase was added in portions to the oil phase with Continuous stirring until the cooling of the emulsifier took place.
Extraction processes :- Aloe Vera Air-dried and coarsely powdered (500 gm) of Aloe Vera were placed in a Soxlet extractor separately, using petroleum ether and then successively with ethanol. The extracts were then concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure and controlled Temperature, respectively and they were preserved in a refrigerator.
Ingredients :- S.no . Materials Roles 1 Aloe vera Anti-ageing, anti-inflammatory , moisturizer, reduce acne and pimples. 2 Ethanol Plasticizers, Topical Antiinfective 3 Stearic acid lubricants, emollients, and emulsifiers
Conclusion :- Aloe and its preparations have been widely used as a medicine since ancient times. Its beneficial effects are mentioned in Hebers Papyrus and in the writings of famous physicians, from Dioscorides to Galen. Aloe has also been used for centuries for a multiplicity of unrelated human illness: for example to correct kidney ailments, to enhance sexual excitement, to develop the mammary glands, to relieve headaches and reduce fever in children. Aloe gel can be applied liberally for topical applications. Now a wide range of products are available on the market; however, simply pure aloe gel is sufficient. This product is very sensitive to light and heat, therefore it is removed from the leaf mechanically and preserved, buffered and stabilised immediately.
