Who was Longfellow? Born on Feb, 27, 1807 in Portland, American Poet and educator Famous work “The Song of Hiawatha”, & Evangeline. Early Life February 27, 1807, to Stephen Longfellow  His father was a lawyer In school he earned a reputation as being very studious  His mother encouraged his enthusiasm for reading and learning First poem  "The Battle of Lovell's Pond", in 1820

Education Longfellow attended a dame school at the age of three and by age six was enrolled at the private Portland Academy 1822 , the 15-year-old Longfellow enrolled at  Bowdoin College in Brunswick. ... I am almost confident in believing, that if I can ever rise in the world it must be by the exercise of my talents in the wide field of literature submitting poetry and prose to various newspapers and magazines Graduated in 1825.

Later life and death In 1854 Longfellow resigned his Harvard professorship to devote himself to his writing career .(1834) Later he started translation of different poems and stories and published. Annual income 48,000$ For several day endured the stomach pain with opium, but finally died on 24 th , March, 1882 at the age of 75 After his death, his estate was worth of $356,320.
