We have a lot of indigenoeus tribes in the Philippines and most of those who survived are living in the mountains. 2 Major Indigenous Groups Igorots - from the North Lumads- non- muslim from the South Indigeneous Tribes

Resides in mountain ranges of Cordillera Region Farming is the primary source of living: “rice cultivators” Ifugaos They built the Banaue Rice Terraces Also known for stone carved “anitos” Kalinga Famous for their tattoos IGOROTS

Ilongots Known for their intense aggressiveness cultural conservatism Other tribes from the north are Bontoc , Ibaloi , Isnegg , Kankanaey , Tinguian and Isnag . IGOROTS

Comprise of 13 ethnic groups: Blaan , Bukidnon, Higaonon , Mamanwa , Mandaya, Manobo, Mansaka , Sagir , Subanen, Tagabawa , Tagakaulo , Tasaday and T’boli . They are known for their tribal Music produced by their musical instruments they have created. LUMADS

Tribes Beliefs T’boli - soul leaves the body while on sleep. (astral projection) The person dies if the soul fails to return Bagobo- each person has 2 souls

Tribes Burial Practices Manobo- bury deads on trees Sulod - bury inside the tree trunk, remove the bones and place it on a jar. Ifugaos - Corpse is seated in a chair; after a year it will be buried somewhere else. Sagada - hang the head by the side of the mountain

Race Any one of the groups that humans are often divided into based on physical traits regarded as common among people of shared ancestry. Race is a social construct used to group people Race divides human populations into groups often based on physical appearance, social factors and cultural backgrounds.

Gender A n individual’s self-conception as a man or woman or as a boy or girl or as some combination of man/boy and woman/girl or as someone fluctuating between man/boy and woman/girl or as someone outside those categories altogether.

Socio Economic Relation Focuses on the relationship between social behavior and economics. It examines how social norms, ethics, emerging popular sentiment, and other social philosophies influence consumer behavior, and thus shape public buying trends.

Introduced by the Spaniards during 16 th Century. Spaniards used paintings as religious propaganda. A lot of painters focused on their works on the effect of war, battle scenes, destruction and suffering of the Filipinos. PAINTINGS

Juan Luna A member of Illustrados He became one of the first recognized Philippine artists. His winning the gold medal in the 1884 Madrid Exposition of Fine Arts Luna painted literary and historical scenes, some with an underscore of political commentary. Felix Hidalgo In 1871 Hidalgo earned a Bachelor of Philosophy from one of the largest Catholic universities in the world, the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. There are specific patterns  used for  traditional dances for courtship, healing, war, harvest, and protection.  Indigenous tribes also  associate colours  with different events. Brown or earthy hues are usually reserved for matters related to death and mourning; meanwhile, red is the colour of power used by the Pinatubo Negrito for their healers.  Weaving
