How are centuries counted ?
How are centuries counted ? It seems complicated at first but the first century CE begins with the year 1 and terminates with the year 100CE. T he second century begins with the year 101 an terminates with the year 200 and continues in that fashion. This is why the century always seems one ahead what you might think it is. F or instance 1550 is in the 16th century and 1865 is in the 19th century.
We are living in the 21 st century . This is because it is the 21st century after Jesus was born in year 0. This is because . . . T he years 0 to 99CE were the First Century. The years 100CE to 199CE were the S econd Century. This means that . . . The year 175CE is in the __________ Century The year 369CE is in the __________ Century
By putting things in chronological order we can discover interesting things about an event. Chronology is the study of when things happened. Events are put into the order of when they happened. This is called Chronological Order
