Justification Of Moral Obligation On The Suffering Of...
What reasons might someone give for caring more about the suffering of people close by than that of
those far away? Do these reasons give moral justification for this stance?
The question that will be answered within this essay asks why, if justifiable, someone might give
preferential care to the suffering of a collective group what are within closer distance than a collective
who may be a large distance away. In this essay, I will offer some reasons for why this might be, and
attempt to find reason to justify them with reference to external material which tries to find reason and
argument about whether this stance can be morally accepted among applied ethical issues. This essay
will be split into two main parts, consisting of two intertwining reasons followed by my reasoning for
justification of this moral stance. I will argue that regardless of moral obligation I believe that we are
more justified to care for people closer by, this will be the primary argument of this essay.
A reason one might give to only helping someone close, with my assumption that close means people
within the same society or social contract as the person rescuing, is that as agents within this contract,
we have negative rights. Negative rights are liberties that one has, meaning that they are not obligated,
but freely allowed to do something within reason. We could void these negative rights if we believe
they will benefit our society or community, and should be influenced to do so, but

The Communication Model Of Communication
1. What is the transmission model of communication? Where does it come from? What does it do well
in helping us understand the process of communication in everyday life? What are its limitations? The
transmission model of communication as defined by James Carey is a process whereby messages are
transmitted or sent and distributed over distance and into space for the purpose of control. The
transmission model includes a sender on one end and a receiver on the other. In the middle is the
median that the message is being sent through. This comes from the nineteenth century from religious
origins. For example, to try to understand this model, we can think about missionaries. The
missionaries were sent from the Roman Catholic Church to other countries to spread the teaching of
Jesus in order to gain control of the people. The transmission does well in helping us understand the
efficiency, convenience, and influence/ control of communication in everyday life. The limitations if
the transmission model is that the transmission model doesn t let us understand the importance of
context that information takes on its meaning in particular times, in particular situations, with
particular people. Another one of its limitations is that the medium is neutralized and the transmission
model doesn t differentiate between different medium such as, newspapers, social media, and amber
alert on a highway reader board. Lastly, the information is homogenized. For example, all the

English Literature in the Victorian Era
I m no lunatic man, I m a sane man fighting for his soul this quote from Bram Stoker s Dracula,
illustrates and foreshadows that in the Victorian era, a quest for meaning was seen by the majority of
society as lunacy , however the characters that Stoker uses, are represented sane , suggesting Stoker s
encouragement of a quest for meaning and purpose in the Victorian era of increasing uncertainty.
Along with Stoker, Charles Dickens and Lord Alfred Tennyson also address the individual s pursuit for
meaning and purpose, linking this idea specifically with themes of capitalism, class and gender
inequality, corruption, freedom and oppression; which I will be using to comparing and contrasting the
writers, closely analysing the driving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover from a Marxist perspective, stokers demonstration of Dracula s pursuit to subject London to
claim the blood that would maintain his life can be interpreted from a Marxist point of view as the
upper class exploiting the working class to maintain capitalism within society. In contrast with
Dickens portal of Bounderby in hard times he shares similar qualities in comparison with Dracula
using his power and status as an advantage of mistreating his workers, where he views them as hands ,
undermining them subsequently because of their working class status. Dracula s castle and Bounderby
s bank are the motif of their power and status, these are Stokers and Dickens portrayal of their
embodiment of capitalism. These writers illustrate how much power Dracula and Bounderby had upon
society to illustrate the impact capitalism bought upon society and the exploitation they inflicted upon
the working class. Dracula s embodiment of capitalism also ironically shares similar traits to and,
mirrors the decline of the British Empire and the greed they had for power, their immoral work of
colonising half of the world is almost as equivalent with Dracula s constant thirst for power, where
being content is not an option for both Dracula and the British Empire.
Additionally, In comparison to the character of Bounderby a prime example of discontent is
highlighted within the novel of Hard Times in chapter 8 where Bounderby creates

Richard Owen, A Prominent Biologist
Richard Owen, a prominent biologist, however, suggested that the tracks found on Devon belong to a
badger that had been distorted by freeze thaw action16. Additionally, the biologist also pointed at the
possibility of the tracks belonging to rats, raccoons and swans that inhabited the Devon area at the
time of the appearance of the tracks. Owen argued that the small animals moved on haystacks and wall
constantly, thereby leaving a trail of tracks. However, this explanation is hard to believe and is not
supported by evidence. As a matter of fact, small animals like rats, raccoons and swans would not like
foot like prints on the surface of the snow. Rather, it would be expected that the tracks will be
continuous and not take any definite pattern since small animals like rats tend to move haphazardly.
Additionally, the animals being nominated here can all fit in four inch drainpipe, effectively
disapproving the argument that they must have caused the tracks that appeared on the haystacks and
wall in Devon.
Another suggestion that the majority have agreed upon is the suggestion that the tracks must have been
left by a Devonport Dockyard experimental balloon that was released by mistake and travelled across
Devon area following its mooring shackles17. However, this explanation is further from the truth,
considering how a balloon would naturally behave from the scientific point of view. As much as the
movement of the balloon would explain the shape of the prints, it is

Compare And Contrast William Bradford And Faith During...
Reading Response 2: William Bradford and faith during first encounter.
In today s time faith seems to be the essence that solves problems and causes wars. In the beginning of
time faith did the same. During William Bradford s period of discovering the new world Bradford used
his faith to power through every obstacle with a clear mind knowing whatever happened was Gods
will.
Bradford expressed his nonconformist religious sensibilities in his early teens and joined the famed
Separatist church in Scrooby at the age of seventeen. In 1609 he immigrated with the congregation, led
by John Robinson, to the Netherlands. In the Netherlands Bradford feared being hunted down for his
religious beliefs and decided to board the mayflower and set forth on ... Show more content on

Bradford had much help from the nearby Indians with things such as food and, as travel guides for safe
passage through rival Indian territory. Bradford encountered deadly warrior Indians who wanted to kill
Bradford and the Indians who were helping him. this was called the first encounter. Bradford s battle
was intense, he speaks of flying arrows and firing muskets, repeated charges and counter charges,
swinging cutlasses and hatchets. The Pilgrims superior weaponry eventually enabled them to disperse
the attackers, but Bradford gave the victory to a different source: During this battle Bradford said the
quote Thus it pleased God to vanquish their enemies and give them deliverance; and by His special
providence so to dispose that not any one of them was either hurt or hit, though their arrows came
close by them and on every side of them; and sundry of their coats, which hung up in the barricade,
were shot through and through. Afterwards they gave God solemn thanks and praise for their
deliverance, and gathered up a bundle of their arrows and sent them into England afterward by the
master of the ship, and called that

Summary Of Andre Caplet s Myrrha
CAPLET
Andre Caplet was a man of many talents. He was a great French conductor, composer, pianist, and
editor for many musician s works including Claude Debussy. On his first attempt, in 1901, Caplet won
the Prix de Rome for his piece Myrrha. This prestigious competition enabled the winner to stay in
Rome for 3 5 years to study music; It often took many great composers several years to obtain. Caplet
mainly made his career as a conductor though. He brought a very precise element to the French music
scene that had not yet been explored. He was recruited in 1910 to be the conductor for the Boston
Opera Company after which only two years he was promoted to artistic director. After another two
years, he would volunteer for the French army where he would be injured and end his conducting
career. Caplet died at the early age of 47 in 1925 from pleurisy.
Deux Divertissements was written in 1924, only one year before Caplet s death. The word
divertissements in a French context means to interject a short dance and or song in the middle of an
opera or ballet. The piece, containing many downward moving melodic lines, represents in a historical
context perhaps the way in which Caplet felt about his life after his injury in the war. This piece
contains a repeated sequence (phrase that modulates keys throughout) that drives the melody forward
with its pull in one direction (either an upward or downward movement) This music is representative
of Caplet s patriotism for his country in

Health Care in the Early 1960s
Rosemary A. Stevens, Ph.D.
My topic, health care in the early 1960s, has a double set of meanings for me. I am a historian, and the
1960s are now history, ripe for new interpretations. Yet I was also an immigrant to the United States in
1961, fresh from working as an administrator in the British National Health Service. The period
immediately before the Medicare legislation in 1965 shines in my memory with the vividness of new
impressions: those of a young health care student trying to make sense of the U. S. health care system,
and indeed, of the United States. The health care system and the United States as a society stand, in
many ways, as proxy for each other, now as then: The whole tells you much ... Show more content on

in the late nineteenth century, had survived two world wars, a major economic depression, and
enormous changes in the organization of work, mass production, rapid urbanization, and modern
communications. As beneficiaries of the 1935 Social Security legislation, they were members of a
culture of entitlement. By 1964, 83 percent of the population 65 years of age or over were eligible for
Social Security benefits; and there were almost three times as many aged Social Security beneficiaries
as there were 10 years earlier. Yet before Medicare there were no entitlements Not all those who were
eligible for benefits received them; the comparable figures were 63 percent in 1960 and 74 percent in

Emotion, Memory, And Decision Making
Emotional arousal appears to have a huge effect on processing, memory, and decision making. For
memories specifically, we tend to rehearse and review episodes of intense emotions frequently,
allowing them to be stronger and more relevant memories (Gluck, 2014). Flashbulb memories suggest
that emotion can greatly increase memory coding, though is still subject to misattribution errors. Still,
evidence suggests that emotion can boost memory encoding (Webbe slides). When creating emotional
experiences in a story against a non emotional story, explicit memory was strengthened by emotion
(Webbe slides). These factors influence the way memory of stored, but an effect known as mood
congruency of memory effect how memory is retrieved. This effect states that it is easier to retrieve
memories based on our current mood. In this way, people who are depressed and asked to recall
memories will recall sad ones, and people asked to recall episodic memories from neutral nouns would
recall memories that match their current mood states (Webbe slides). Life stressors can impact the
development or retrieval of memory, resulting in distorted or false memories. This could result from
psychological stress or trauma, resulting in functional amnesia. Additionally, guided imagery or
hypnosis recovered memories can be distorted, resulting in false memories and can make it difficult to
distinguish false memories from recovered ones. Emotional memory is processed by the amygdale,

house on the day after Christmas in 1996. Her name was JonBenet Ramsey; she was a six year old girl
who lived with her mother, father and brother in Boulder City, Colorado. Her death shocked the public
and the murderer has yet to be found. Many blame the mistakes the detectives made during the
investigation and her case has gained more recent popularity due to the fact that it has been
approximately twenty years since her unfortunate demise. Patsy and John Ramsey, boulder city

Analysis Of The Jamestown Fiasco
The overpopulated lands of England had gotten word of a Italian man, sailing under the Spanish crown
had discovered land across a rather devoid sea! England knew there was catching up to do and after a
previous failure at Roanoke island the Brits were determined to succeed! Though despite their high
spirits, the New World was harsh and unforgiving, which made the new colony of Jamestown anything
but a success. With countless raids by Native American tribes and the continuing starvation of the
colony, Harvard graduate, author, and United States historian, Edmund Morgan elaborates on the
failure of Jamestown within his work titled The Jamestown Fiasco . The Englishman s encounters with
the Native Americans were almost never mutual or positive. The first encounter with the people of the
new world was a defeat at best, the Native Americans drove the Englishmen back upon the ships they
had come from, but the English were determined that they would be here to stay. They moved farther
down the James River and found a suitable location for settlement. Through poor leadership, however,
brought the true demise of the possible friendly relations between the Natives and English unlike their
French counterparts further north. Innocent Native Americans coming into Jamestown with food and
gifts were often treated like spies and taken hostage by the colonists. This understandably gave the
natives of the region a common goal, it was the English versus them. Though the first encounter

Biblical Heroism In Treasure Island By Robert Louis Stevenson
Noah. Moses. Joshua. Esther. What might all these people share in common? All were heroes in light
of the biblical understanding of the term, heroism. Matthew 20:28 states, Just as the Son of Man did
not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (NIV). This verse
embodies one of the components of a true hero s character. The biblical heroes mentioned above were
humble, led others by serving, counted others needs more significant than their own, and obeyed God s
call for their lives. Of course, they were sinners and still stumbled and fell, but their lives demonstrate
true biblical heroism in their strivings to honor God and serve others. Noah obeyed God s command to
build an ark and rescued his family and the animals from the Flood. Moses led the grumbling people
of Israel out of Egypt and into the desert after continually pleading with Pharaoh to let them go leave
Egypt. Joshua listened to God s instruction and led the Israelites around Jericho s walls until they came
tumbling down. Uninvited, Esther came into King Nebuchadnezzar s presence, asking him and Haman
to dinner where she would eventually expose Haman s evil plans and save the Jews. In Treasure Island
by Robert Louis Stevenson, the main characters, Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins, do not measure
up in comparison to this biblical standard of heroism. Therefore, neither Silver nor Jim are heroes in
the biblical light of heroism. Jim Hawkins arrogance, cowardice, and selfishness

Love And Love In Yiyun Li s Story Extra
Falling in love with someone and marriage is often a goal in which many people seek to attain in their
lifetime. In Yiyun Li s story Extra, Granny Lin an unmarried fifty one year old with financial troubles
takes advice from a family member and take cares of a rich and sick widow in an attempt to inherit
cash when he dies but while doing so falls in love. Similarly, she soon develops a loving attachment
with a student while working as a maid at a school. Granny Lin quickly develops these strong feelings
with these people because she has never been exposed to this kind of relationship with a person. I

Her definition of love would be very different than of someone whom is married to someone they truly
chose. This supports the claim that Li was trying to make the reader understand that there are many
definitions of love.
Granny Lin becomes very affectionate towards Old Tang during the short period she takes care of him.
While bathing him the text states that, Old Tang is the only man Granny Lin has seen in full nakedness
(Li 9). This new sight is fascinating to her but she becomes reluctant and almost afraid, The frail
nakedness filled her heart with a tenderness she had never experienced, and she has since tended his
body with motherly hands (Li 9). I argue that she is afraid because the thought of a naked man has
been foreign to her never having have experienced it. She does not know how to approach how she is
feeling. She has never experienced having emotional attachment to any man and believes that this is
love . This could be compared to young love , and how people often criticize teens for not
understanding what love is. Although, experience and age shapes new ideas of love. I think these are
the ideas that Li was trying to portray.
Old Tang s death comes shortly during the time they ve spent together. Granny Lin explains that she
knew he was going to die, She sees an unnatural lucidity in Old Tang s eyes and feels her heart fall.

Neither a man nor a crowd nor a nation can be trusted to act humanely or to think sanely under the
influence of a great fear(Russel). In the timeless allegory Animal Farm, a power hungry leader instills
fear in a society of animals to manipulate their actions and ultimately consolidate power. These fear
based responses are comparable to those of citizens in today s society who s fear leads to blind
following and a spiral of silence . It s no surprise that fear is often used to ensure there will not be any
questioning of regimes because it is so effective at turning citizens into blind followers. For example,

that citizens are afraid to go against the majority side in fear of isolation or more extreme

Literature Review On Hand Washing
Literature review
Does simply washing of hand with soap reduce the spread of diseases?
Introduction
According to world health organisation report (2015), hand washing is the simple act of cleaning the
hands with or without water and soap. It requires the use of water and soap to remove dirt form the
hands (World Health Organisation, 2015). Evidence has shown that diarrhoea is the leading course of
death in young children and it is in every way linked to poor hand hygiene (Ejemot RI, 2008).
Diarrhoea according to World Health Organization (WHO) is defined as 3 or more loose or watery
stools per day, which is rather not normal as it should be in a normal individual. There are different
types of nosocomial infections and according to (LV, 1993) the most common nosocomial infection is
the nosocomial diarrhoea depending on the duration of hospitalisation, exposure to antibiotics and
poor hand hygiene. Based on researches that have been done and also in recent times, frequent hand
washing is thought to be the most effective way of preventing transmission of diseases. However not

The Development And Constant Change Of Infants Essay
The development and constant change of infants is mind blowing and incredible. Each infant develops
at approximately the same, quick pace, but each small life in the grand scheme of infant development
could vary greatly (Santrock, 2016). There are many different factors that must be considered in the
first years of life that are extremely crucial for development and change. In order to better understand
infant development, it is important to consider how each of these factors will affect the baby; three
examples of these factors are sleep patterns, eating habits, and motor development, all which impact
the general health of the infant overall.
It is relatively general knowledge that infants tend to sleep much more than the average child, adult, or
adolescent. My virtual child, Margo, in between three and eight months, was sleeping six hours out of
the night, and taking a few two hour naps during the day, consistently sleeping about 12 hours per day
(My Virtual Child, 2014). The average amount of sleep that an infant will get on any given night is
anywhere in between ten to twenty one hours per day (Santrock, 2016). Based on this knowledge, it
can be concluded that Margo s sleeping habits are not necessarily abnormal for her age. Margo was
also strictly breastfed. In the study Infant Sleep Development from 3 to 6 Months Postpartum: Links
with Maternal Sleep and Paternal Involvement, it was stated that there was correlation between infants
that were strictly breastfed at

Empathy And Irony In William Stafford s Poem
People do not have the same destinies. However, though one can not easily understand another
completely, individuals see their futures, even when their thread gets tangled like a jar of jewelry.
Especially during the high school ages, young people are constantly ask about their futures, and
although it is in good nature, the wanderer tends to overstep and misunderstand. The first half of the
poem appears to speak to an individual s plan: the attachment to the thread, the necessary explanation,
the questions. Then, the second half seems to connect to the unalterable stream of life. As Stafford
writes, you don t ever let go of the thread, the poem feels more like a death sentence. Regardless of
this, the poem still fastened to one s tactics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Intuition has been a strong factor in my plans for after high school and it can be confusing for another
to understand. It is true, threads are unknowable to outsiders. However, empathy is a way around the
barrier. No one needs to understand everything, but humans need to be less narrow minded for
everyone to flourish. The title is an unqualified fact of life. Using simplistic words, the title becomes
matter of fact. After reading the poem, one would assume the title should include the word thread
because of how symbolic it is throughout the work. Stafford knows this feeling is universal; the title
indicates the reader will understand. Throughout the poem, the tone remains unvarnished, playing to
the logical side of the issue. People will always misunderstand others this is the way it is.
By writing The Way It Is is second person, Stafford further explores the universal aspect of
explanation. In certain instances, one might think in second person, as possibly reassurance or
motivation. Once one disassociates themselves from montra, it can become more powerful, in a way.
This poem is able to speak to every individual reading it because this is how humans have broad ideas.
There is a unique relationship between the narrator and the reader, when second person is used.
Because second person is used, the reader begins to assume the narrator is an omnipotent being; they

Benefits Of Spinach Cells
The goal of this project to use detergents and surfactants to decellularize spinach leaves, leaving just
the extracellular matrix. In addition, the secondary goal is to culture rat cardiac cells and use the
extracellular matrix as a three dimensional scaffolds for tissue growth. Tissue Engineering As stated by
Castells Sala et al. (2013) tissue Engineering is a [developing] scientific field focused on the
development substitutes for tissues by controlling biological, biophysical and/or biomechanical
parameters in the laboratory. The general principles of tissue engineering involve combining living
cells with a natural/ synthetic support or scaffold to build a three dimensional living construct.

(Chan Leong, 2008). Biocompatibility is also an important factor. The material should be biologically
compatible with the host tissue so it does not cause an immune or inflammatory response. (Pluta,
Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012). While the cells grow on the scaffold they generate a matrix around
themselves, the scaffold provides structure and is eventually absorbed by the body; leaving the newly
formed tissue to manage mechanical support. (Pluta, Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012). The scaffold
needs to be absorbed by the surrounding tissue at a rate compatible with the rate of tissue growth, so
the new tissue can function independently and avoid the need for surgical removal. Lastly, to ensure
functionality, the mechanical properties of the Scaffold should compatible with the tissue type. (Pluta,
Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012; Chan Leong, 2008). Designing scaffolds with the mechanical and
physical properties appropriate for the tissue type, specifically for the vascular system, is the most
challenging part of tissue engineering. (Pluta, Malina, Sobczak Kupiec, 2012). No tissue can survive
without being able to move and diffuse nutrients, oxygen, and waste product...So vasculturation, the
process of making something vascular, is key to ensuring the long term survival and function of
engineered tissue... The tissue scaffold must be

Functions Of The Principal Multi Agent Relationship...
Even if agents mobilize around CVE, implementation still may not occur. After the mobilization stage,
agents need to determine what the actual programs will encompass and what service providers will
implement these programs. I argue that implementation may fail to occur due to coordination problems
that arise within the planning stage based on the way decisions are made. For implementation
purposes, the structure of the principal multi agent relationship matters.
The implementation of CVE involves a variety of different agents with different self interests. This is
problematic for two reasons. First, an agent s self interest may conflict with either the self interests of
other agents involved in the process or what is best for the entire community. For government
communities, conflicts of interest can create in fighting between agents (Bardach 1998). In both
possibilities, conflicts of interest can create coordination problems amongst agents.
Second, there is a general lack of knowledge in terms of what works best for CVE and how to
implement CVE programming. A lack of information concerning implementation in combination with
the number of agents involved in the process can lead to coordination problems amongst agents.
Although all agents have a common interest in either reducing the threat of violent extremism or
implementing CVE programming, these agents may have different interpretations of how to do so.
Agents may disagree not only on the types of programs to

Marketing Discourse Of South Korea Essay
Ever since the economic boom that South Korea faced due to globalization in the 1990 s, South Korea
has been working on becoming a country on par with other global powers such as Canada and
Australia (John, 2015). South Korea has paid a particular focus since the early 2000 s on exporting
culture to the rest of the world through what is known as the Korean Wave , and South Korean beauty
is no exception to this trend (John, 2015). South Korean beauty has grown its own niche market in
America where people can purchase products either from popular online distributors such as
MEMEBOX, WishTrend, and YesStyle, or from select American outlets such as Sephora, Urban
Outfitters, and Forever21. Beauty from South Korea has also gained an online presence as popular
online beauty gurus test interesting products from South Korea, and some beauty gurus even have a
focus on South Korean beauty products and trends. My discourse community is the marketing
discourse community within the business sphere, and it focuses on ways to sell products to customers
and make them aware of products that they might like with hopes of increasing the profit margins of
companies. Companies tend to employ multiple types of marketing, including traditional and word of
mouth marketing, but I have focused my research more on the side of traditional marketing.
Traditional marketing includes magazine and newspaper advertisements, television advertisements,
and billboard advertisements. With the increase in

The And Design Practices By Martin Heidegger
When is Architecture Architecture?
Only if we are capable of dwelling, only then can we build. This claim was made by German
philosopher Martin Heidegger in his lecture Building Dwelling Thinking . In the lecture Heidegger
goes beyond architectural and design practices by referring building not only in architectural
construction, but to the whole range of human productive activity. When thinking about dwelling it is
usually connected to buildings. The goal of a building is to allow one to dwell, but not all buildings are
in the domain of dwelling. Christian Nordberg Schulz describes place as that which in we dwell,
within which we are at home. The truck driver is at home on the highway, but he does not have his
accommodations there; the working woman is at home in her office, but does not have her dwelling
place there. Dwelling is not only limited to the dwelling place. Schulz stated that dwelling as being in
a harmonious relationship with one s surrounding environment. He believes that dwelling is based in
the idea that our dwelling in place grants us an identity and a meaning that we would otherwise lack.
Thus, in order to dwell in a place one must personally connect with that place which leads us to
exclude others from that place as a means to affirm that identity. Many critics claim that if place is an
essentially relative concept based on a personal sense of belonging then dwelling must be too.
In terms of these theories on dwelling; architecture and

The Stains of Watergate
On June 17, 1972, security guard Frank Wills became a national hero. At twenty four years old, he was
working the midnight shift at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the
Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. He discovered tape over a basement door lock and thinking
none of it, he removed the tape. On another inspection round, he found the lock taped over again and
called the police. They locked the doors, turned off the elevators, and started checking darkened
offices. At 2:30 a.m. on the 6th floor of the Watergate complex, the police discovered five men who
were identified as the Plumbers Unit on orders by The Committee to Re elect the President (CREEP)
to burglarize the DNC. The men, one who was an ex CIA agent, were convicted of conspiracy,
burglary, and illegal wiretapping. However, what started as a third rate burglary unravelled into a
broad network of political corruption and espionage within the Nixon administration that became
known as Watergate. Before the summer of 1972, the term Watergate meant nothing more than a
luxurious complex in Washington, D.C., but because five highly cunning men were somehow caught
by an average, $80 per week security guard, it became associated with the greatest political scandal of
the century and many more after that. The Watergate scandal proliferated public skepticism of and
mistrust in the federal government, and an angry American public called for immediate response. The

Yog Yoga And Yoga
In addition to meditation, yoga is also an important practice in Hinduism as well
as in Tibetan Buddhism. Yoga is used as a means to enlightenment and has influenced
other religious and spiritual practices throughout the world. The Bhagavad Gita and the
Yogasutra are some of the scriptures that establish the basis for yoga. The four main
types of yoga are Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga and Raja Yoga. Yoga helps
gain a mastery over the body and mind and can lead to the knowledge of actual reality.
The ultimate goal of yoga is to attain liberation from suffering and the endless cycle of
birth and death. Yoga and meditation are used together in order to achieve this
liberation and one who studies yoga is referred to as a yogi.

Rebecca Clarke s `` Cinderella No More ``
I decided to choose a theme for my final paper which will be related to my instrument viola. I choose
Rebecca Clarke , probably the most prominent women composer who wrote for viola. Most of Clarke
s compositions were written in the first three decades of the twentieth century, her works was largely
unknown until the 1970th. Such is the curiously small impact she made as a composer in England in
her life time that the first edition of Lionel Turtis s book Cinderella no more doesn t mention her viola
Sonata, even though now violist from all over the world would regard it as one of the principal works
for the instrument of its era. This seems very interesting to me and I will discuss why it happened and
why women composers had no space in the professional society of that time. Also, I will talk about
Rebecca Clarke as one of the firs women who broke the rules in a male dominated musical world ( she
became one of the first female professional musician in the orchestra). Interest in her writing has
grown a lot recently and many of her works entered the standard viola repertoire. Because she wrote
during the time of first feminist wave in England and her rediscovering overlaps with the second wave
feminism in America musicologist mainly discuss her personality and her compositions in the
implications of gender on analysis. I will discuss her Viola Sonata considering this recent feminist
theory of gender and I will write about her personality as a composer and a performer,

on the compound on the popsicle stick, the reactions emitted lights of all different colors which shows
the amount of energy released on the color scale. 2. Each compound use consists of a metal component
and a nonmetal component. In other words, in lithium chloride, the lithium component was the metal
and chloride component was the nonmetal. Which of the two components do you think determined the
color emitted by the popsicle stick? How does your data support your answer? I think the metal

Mexico Fair Trade
The present day global capitalist economy dominates world markets and, though it proves efficient for
the industrialized North, it does not favour those living in the Global South. Fair Trade, perhaps today
s largest alternative to this system, has existed since the beginning of the 20th century and has been
challenging capitalism since its inception. What began as missionary efforts exploded in the 1990s to
create what we now know as present day Fair Trade operations. Fair Trade Canada defines Fair Trade

This, in turn, has had a substantial impact on their environment. By prohibiting GMOs, the producer
eliminates the associated risks. In places that use GMOs, there have been cases of animals growing ill
after consuming the genetically modified products. As well, prohibiting GMOS completely eliminates
the risk of humans growing ill or having allergic reactions to the GMOs. Closely related to GMOs are
agrochemicals, or chemicals that are applied to a product to make it pest resistant. These include
pesticides and insecticides that are used to prevent insects and other pest from destroying crops. In the
industrialized North, agrochemicals are applied to almost every grown food product, unless labelled
organic or stated otherwise. Though not banned, agrochemical use by Fair Trade producers is
discouraged, limited, and when used, handled carefully. The limitation of agrochemicals positively
impacts the environment and reduces health risks to consumers and producers. In places that use
agrochemicals, it is common for run off water containing these harmful chemicals to travel from
agricultural areas to groundwater which not only contaminates the ground water but also runs the risk
of contaminating larger bodies of water, such as like lakes and oceans. This poses major health risks
for humans drinking the water, and also creates environmental risks for water dwelling creatures

The s Total Pollution Exclusion
Discussion
No, I do not believe that the trial Court erred when it found that Illinois National pollution exclusion
clause precluded coverage in the case between United Milwaukee and Advanced Waste. In order to
make a successful claim, Advanced Waste Service Inc. would have had to make a clear argument that
the language of the total pollution exclusion does not address the undisputed factual issues involved in
this case and thereby mandating coverage. I do not believe the Court of Appeals should reverse the
district courts ruling and grant a judgment mandating coverage. Therefore, the Trial court s granting of
summary judgment in favor of Illinois National should be upheld.
I. How to interpret the language of Insurance Policies
The language of insurance policies in nuanced with items that will be covered and items that will be

Current Account Sustainability
Does a current account deficit matter?
Yun Shik Park
Abstract: Sometimes a country will export their goods to another country, rather than importing them
and it causes current account deficits. The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of current
account in national economic development. As the world becomes more interdependent and
globalized, we cannot ignore the importance of a country s income and expenditure records the current
account. The current account is the point at which international economics collide with political
reality. When countries hold large deficits, businesses, trade unions, politicians, and countries are often
quick to blame their opponents and make changes regarding unfair practices.
Some economists argue that A large current account deficit is not a cause of concern if the fiscal
accounted are balanced, Lawson s Doctrine. Therefore, we don t need to worry about the current
account. However, the paper researched this matter for a more in depth understanding of the economic
concept of current account deficits.

During the 1920 s the economy was good, so many Americans turned to leisure activities. A vibrant
social atmosphere expanded due to new technology. They had the equipment to make movies,
phonographic records, and commercial radio. This error was known as the roaring twenties. This new
popular culture caused some Americans left behind progressive ideas and moved toward a less socially
engaged interest. Others used this new culture to break stifling bonds of long standing restrictions. At
the turn of the century, moving films were developed. It was slow at first. However, by the 1920 s the
film industry really caught on in Hollywood California. This was because there was plenty of open
space and three hundred sunny days a year was great for filming

Appraising the Evidence: Mandatory Overtime Impact on Nurse Safety
Caroline Opyd
Chamberlain College of Nursing
NR 449: Evidence Based Practice
November, 2015 Mandatory Overtime and the Impact it has on Nurse Safety
Problem
This paper addresses how mandatory overtime shifts cause safety problems on the floor, and how these
shifts impact nurses safety. Safety errors can happen in the blink of an eye, and happen more than most
healthcare systems would like to admit. On going issues with nursing shortages have led to an increase
in the amount of hours worked overtime. Numerous studies show that mandatory overtime causes an
increase in safety errors among nurses in the healthcare setting. According to the article based on the
observational study titled, Scheduling and shift work characteristics associated with risk for
occupation injury in newly licensed registered nurses , there is a direct association between overtime
and night shifts and an increased risk for injury (Stimpfel, Brewer, Kovner, 2015). The statistics from
this study show the serious impact overtime can have on a nurses safety, with results stating that
nurses working weekly overtime were associated with a 32% increase in the risk of a needle stick over
those who did not work extended hours (Stimpfel, 2015).
Clinical Question
The first article appraised, The Working Hours of Hospital Staff Nurses and Patient Safety , uses a
qualitative design to provide evidence assessing how overtime shifts

The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act Of 2008 And...
On October 3, 2008 President George W. Bush signed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of
2008, otherwise known as the bailout. The Purpose of this act was defined as to, Provide authority for
the Federal Government to purchase and insure certain types of trouble assets for the purpose of
providing stability to and preventing disruption in the economy and financial system and protecting
taxpayers, to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide incentives for energy production
and conservation, to extend certain expiring provisions, to provide individual income tax relief, and for
other purposes (Emergency Economic Stabilization Act). In my paper I will explain and show the
relationship between the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 and subprime lending, the
collapse of the housing market, bundled mortgage securities, liquidity, and the Government s efforts to
bailout the nation s banks.
Subprime lending became prevalent in the early 2000 s when property values were sky rocketing and
many Americans thought they would fulfill their home ownership dreams, by obtaining loans they may
not otherwise qualify for. A subprime loan is a loan offered to an individual who does not qualify for a
loan at the prime rate due to their credit history. Subprime loans have higher interest rates because of
the risk that the lender is taking. During the early 2000 s the housing market was great for
homebuyers, since interest rates where low and property values

Credit Card At A Later Time
1. When you get to the point of arranging for payment with the family, and the family is going to pay
with one or more credit cards, what are your next steps?
Do you take their Credit Card to the back office and create a cash receipt in HMIS and swipe the
Credit Card on an EPD (toaster)? Our policy at this location is to require some form of payment with
completion of amount owed prior to rendering of services. It is our typical stance that we swipe the
card immediately creating a cash receipt even if this involves multiple credit cards. Our machine is
located in the back, through a door and in the corner. That s quite a distance from the family and some
time for the OM to stop what they re doing and get into HMIS to process the payment.
Do you take the Credit Card information and process the receipt as a manual key credit card at a later
time? We rarely if ever do a manual key as the swipe method works very well.
If neither of the above two are done, what is your process for charging a customer s credit card?
2. In the future, if there was a credit card device located inside the arrangement room that would allow
you to enter the HMIS contract number and total amount to charge on the credit card, and then swipe
the credit card to charge the customer and during this process, the cash receipt was automatically
created in HMIS and posted, would you utilize this device/process? Absolutely, I have already
considered

Analysis Of The Metaphors Of The Heart By D B Henkel
The Metaphors of the Heart by D.B. Henkel is one piece I thought was art. This piece was a massive
heart, imbedded into a picture frame. There were objects inside to describe a person s loves and what
shapes them into who they are as a person like: food, a pillow, cards, clothes, and even stiches. The
artist made a contest involving his artwork, there were between 30 35 metaphors represented in the
heart. If you could find and identify all of them you won a gold heart locket necklace. In this piece
description, it said Your heart is the monitor of all your life s experiences, and it s never too late to try
to change its look for the better (Henkel). It seemed as if I could look at this artwork for hours, trying
to figure out what the meaning of each object was in the heart. On the other hand, not all artwork stood
out to me. There has to be certain criteria for the piece to be interesting to me. Those areas of criteria
are the size of the object, colors, and the overall message with how it can relate to me on a personal
level. For some people when they see shapes, they think of it has art, but for me I can never really
understand why they made it into an art submission. This is why the size of the object and what that
object is, is really important for me to understand. That way it is also easier for me to remember, while
looking at the other many pieces of artwork. This piece of art was 86 in height and 63 in width
(Henkel). With that saying, I will not be one to

The blue, as Marc prescribed, gives a peaceful note to the agitated atmosphere. He recollects an
illusionistic portrayal within which he seeks to form a rich colour composition that reflects the vitality
of his subject. The principal achievement in Red Horses is this portrayal of the uninhibited energy of
nature using completely naturalistic colours. 2. Figure : Tierschicksale by Franz Marc
This Tierschicksale is one of the most popular landscapes drawn by Franz Marc. It characteristic of the
sense of apocalypse that began to taint Marc s work and is relate to his feelings on the forthcoming

This painting used of numerous elements and principles of design. Using line showing the contrast
between the animal and the floras. Also, the value (tone) and colour used containing dark and light in
colours, the tone of the colour on the right of the painting is darker, and lighter colour on the left.
Moreover, this landscape created an emphasis (focal point). An animal is clearly shown in the central
of the landscape and creates a focal dominance.
Marc clarifies that he began to see the ugliness in animals which he had previously thought only
existed in humans. The use of lines and geometric shapes in this landscape carried the emotional
charge previously conveyed by animals. This landscape related to Marc s ideas on the impending war.

The Roman Catholic Church And Caribbean Cultures Essay
All of us are different, we all experience different things, grow up in certain ways, and are influenced
by different cultures. Culture aids in shaping our behavior and influencing our health practices,
therefore impinging on our future. As for this, in this paper I will be analyzing my two cultures as an
individual. The experiences and practices that I have endured have made me the woman that I am
today. Thus, my two cultures that I have chosen to address are the Roman Catholic Church and
Caribbean cultures.
Namely, the first one that I will be spiel is my Roman Catholic Church culture. The Roman Catholic
Church culture has been an important stake in my life. As well as, it is being the largest Christian
church in the world, with more than a billion members worldwide. As far as I can remember I have
always been involved in the Roman Catholic Church from being baptized at two months old to starting
pre k at my local Catholic school. The mechanisms that I enjoy about this culture are praying, the
community, and the willingness to help.
However, the Roman Catholic Church has recently seen some controversy surrounding the religion in
the last past few years. Which has resulted in many profound opinions upon my religious culture. Even
though, I may not acquiesce with everything that the church believes is right to maintain on a
righteous path, it is still my duty to defend the church, contour to promote the views of the church. For
one thing, it is definitely formidable to be

The Achievements Of A Hero In Gilgamesh And The Odyssey
In Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, the authors describe the achievements of a hero during a particular
period of time. Despite being written thousands of years apart, Homer presented the importance of
perseverance and loyalty because he wanted to show how strong willed people are in returning home
safely to stay with their loved ones. Both Gilgamesh and Odysseus developed a strong desire to search
for the true meaning of life because it arouses their curiosity. These stories focuses primarily on the
protagonists going through the transition to maturity due to a series of events. The literary techniques
that both authors used reveals two separate intentions and different conclusions. While Mitchell uses
symbolism to show how Gilgamesh evolve into a true epic hero, Homer uses imagery to portray how
Odysseus changes for the better during his journey. One similarity between the books is that both
characters are extremely prideful. The arrival of Endiku had a major impact on Gilgamesh because he
never saw anyone who was as strong as him. From the moment they became friends, Gilgamesh
always had an urge to go on adventures with him because he wanted to test his strength and loyalty.
One day, Gilgamesh points out that, Now we must travel to the Cedar Forest, where the fierce monster
Humbaba lives. We must kill him and drive out evil from the world. (Mitchell, pg.91). Endiku
responds with disagreement because he argued that they stand no chance against the strong and
fearless
