How to get people to come
to your event
(not sign up -actually come)

Planning
Effective planning →an impactful and well attended event! Take 20 mins to think about who you need,
what you need, what your aims are, and then work through the steps to see where your timings land you. Or
-if there’s an immovable launch point, work back from there to see what is manageable in the time you
have.
Primary questions:
●Who do we want to attend? (eg, young people, donors)
●Why? (eg, learn about how they can support women in STEM, hack ideas for the Global Goals)
●What does success look like for this event? (eg, a meaningful pledge, 500 attendees)
●How does it connect to our overall goal? (eg, amplify youth voice, strengthen youth civil society)
Secondary questions:
●How can I reach my audience (where are they in the world, do they use Fb or Twitter, do they follow us
already or are they a cold audience, can they afford to attend a zoom event?)
●Who/what do I need to achieve my aims? (egwebform=Emma, donor contacts=Sabina, socials
promotion= Victoria, media=Sam etc)

Framing and promotion
What’s in it for them? Why should they come?
“Come to our event
about climate change”
“Are you a young person
based in India? Do you want to
join other young people to
learn about the impact of
climate change in your
country and how to tackle it?”
