THE PURPOSE OF project Based learning Project Based Learning is an instructional approach designed to give students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through engaging projects set around challenges , research, critical thinking and designing . It gives students a chance to express their own creativity by presenting their projects.

4. What is a Magazine ? A magazine is a periodical publication which is printed in gloss-coated and matte paper or electronically published (sometimes referred to as an online magazine). Magazines are generally published on a regular schedule and contain a variety of content The main purpose of a general interest magazine is to provide information for the general audience. A school magazine is unique to its own people that is students, staff member, teachers , principal and vice principal, . It contains all about their school events , academics , achievement, and many more things to make it interesting for its audience.

Designing a cover page for school magazine Remember the following point while designing the cover page of your school magazine 1. it must have the name of your own school 2. add the school logo 3. add pictures from the school events or school premises 4. you can download images from the official page on Instagram( urduschoolbh ) of your school or using the school website. www.pakurudschool.com 5. 8. 2. Report writing Dear Students, I am giving you three events to write the report about , you only have to choose any one and write a report about it. a. Report about sports day at school b. Report about debate competition c. Report about annual day prize distribution

9. What is a report ? A report is a brief account of an event that has already taken place. The report helps in recording the events of importance that occur in our day-to-day life. It attempts to present the first hand information of an incident or event. A report of an event presents a record of events that took place. A report of an event includes one’s ideas, opinions and impressions about the event.

Steps for writing a report First you will give the title of your report, for example ANNUAL DAY , SPORT DAY etc Then you will write the place and date on the left hand side of your page Then comes the body of report, it contains three points a. introduction: here you have to write what was the event, when , where it was here and why ; you will mention the purpose of the event that your are writing the report about. And you can also mention the participant or volunteer or guest of honour in the introduction.

11. b. Main content: after giving the introduction you will write about how the event started and what were the main highlights of the event. c. Conclusion: in the end , summarize your report with a positive note. End your report by writing Reported by : ____________ (write your name and class)

Here is a sample of report for a cultural day event at school , after reading this you will have a better idea of how to write report about your school event CULTURAL DAY Pakistan Urdu School, Isa Town 24 October 2014 On 22/ 10/2014, a colourful and memorable Cultural Fest was organized in our school. This event was whole day long and was held in the auditorium of our school. In this mega event, many schools from our city took part. The grand show commenced by the arrival of various teams from schools. Then the Chief Guest, the District Collector ,of our District, arrived with his wife. There was a colourful welcome followed by lighting of the lamp. It was accompanied by melodious welcome song , followed by the national anthem of Pakistan. It was followed by a welcome speech given by the Principal of our school. There was singing, dancing, poetry recitation, skits, mimicry, mono act shows. Everyone sat glued to the show. The Chief Guest praised the entire event a lot. He guided with his inspirational words and inspired to do better . It was followed by the announcement of the winning team , ABC School of our city. The team from our school bagged second position and everyone complimented one another. It was followed by a formal vote of thanks and the event concluded. We really enjoyed a lot and dispersed with a sincere hope that such mega events should be organized time and again giving the students a chance to display their talents. Reported by: xyz

14. Current Affairs Dear Students, for Current Affairs you will research about what is going on in today’s world. As we all know that the world is facing the Covid-19 pandemic. So you have to research an article about covid-19, safety measure to be taken for stay safe from the virus or article about the update on the vaccine of the Covid-19 . You can also choose article about other things like new innovations, sports, etc. Now I will share with you can article in the next slide, similarly you will also find for your magazine, use web search for current affairs

We Need a COVID-19 Vaccine (sample) The authorization of an effective vaccine will mark perhaps the biggest turning point in the battle against coronavirus, but only if enough people are willing to get vaccinated. There have been substantial declines in public willingness to get vaccinated against COVID-19, despite immense, unprecedented public investments in vaccine development. In one survey, barely half of Americans said they would get the vaccine as soon as it was available, numbers that will undermine the benefits of even a highly effective vaccine. It is no mystery why trust in a potential vaccine has plummeted. Operation Warp Speed, the Trump Administration’s $10 billion vaccine initiative, and other vaccine efforts have compressed processes that usually take years into months. This speed alone can raise concerns, but to date, that pace has been matched with strict adherence to the basic principles of scientific integrity. However, increasing politicization of key regulatory bodies and unexplained decisions in trial procedures threaten to undermine the entire project. We need a lot more transparency in this process to ensure that only a vaccine proven by data to be safe and effective will be approved.

Procedure Dear Students, it is important to note down the questions you would like to ask the person you are going to take an interview from; You can take interview of your favourite teacher, parents, siblings or your classmates You will contact them through email and ask few questions and when they answer you back , you will publish it in your school magazine. Don’t forget to tell them the purpose of this interview , its for you English project. Choose a personality that inspires you and you would like to become like them one day. Ask appropriate questions

19. 6.Comics , poems or short story To make your magazine fun and interesting for reader you can add comics or poems or short story with morals.

20. Finally your magazine will have the following pages 1. cover page with the title of your school name 2. report about school event 3. Article on current affairs 4. recommendations for improvement 5. an interview 6. comics, poems or short story. Note: There are options given in each point, choose any one for your magazine , please note that you can use more than one slide to cover the points for your magazine.
