CRITIQUE PAPER OR REVIEW PAPER This is a specialized form of writing in which the reader evaluates literary pieces, articles, art, movies, design This is to critically analyze usually a piece of writing.

Formalism This is approach focuses on the structure of words or arrangement of language. In a story you are going to thoroughly observe how the elements work together as a whole how effective the writer is introducing the characters, the conflict and how the problem is being resolved.

Guide Questions 1.) How do the elements relate to each other? 2.) Is there a relationship between the beginning and ending of the story? 3.) Howneffective is the style of the author?

Feminist Criticism This is from the feminist theory about gender difference. When applying feminist theory in a critique, you might consider questions such as: How are women and gender minorities represented in the text or work? What power dynamics are at play between different genders? Does the work challenge or reinforce traditional gender roles and stereotypes? How does the text address issues of gender inequality, discrimination, or empowerment? Are women's voices and perspectives included and valued in the narrative, or are they marginalized or silenced?

By using feminist theory in your critique, you bring attention to the importance of gender in shaping narratives and encourage a more inclusive and equitable understanding of the work being analyzed.

This Approach writes about the reader’s interpretation of the literature after a thorough examination Reader Response Criticism You can not just simply write “ The story is cool or nice” . you have to intellectually react and explain why using your reasoning power. You have to reflect or contemplate before you decide of what to write.

In practice, when applying reader-response criticism to a work, one might ask: How did I feel while reading this text? What personal experiences or beliefs influenced my interpretation? How did my understanding of the text change as I read it? What assumptions did I bring to the text, and how did they shape my response? Reader Response Criticism

MARXIST CRITICISM This approach is used when the content is about social classes, like the story of the Landlords or the peasants, or how the poor are being treated by the rich or middle class, use Marxist criticism. In here there is disparity or gap between the rich and the poor. If there is no social equality there is conflict in the society.

Guide Questions in using Marxist Critcism 1.) What is the economic status of the characters? 2.) How does it affect the characters? 3.) How do the characters fare against economic and political problems?

Biographical Criticism This is an approach in annalyszing the author’s life in order to understand the text fully

Biographical Criticism 1.) What aspect of the author’s personal life are reflected in the work? 2.) which of the author’s beliefs are evident in the work? 3.) What is the author’s major concern?
