INTRODUCTION The word Information , Education , & communication have individual menanings , when grouped together as “IEC” , They are familiar to many within the field of health communication. IEC initiatives are grounded in the concepts of prevention & primary health care. IEC is the process of learning that’s empowers peoples to make decisions , modifying behaviors & change social conditions
DEFINITION Acc/to W.H.O, IEC can be defines as “an approach which attempt to change or reinforce a set of behavior in a target audience regarding a specific problem in a predefined period of time AIMS OF IEC To change the health behaviour of individual family and community . To motivate & adopt the health attitude.
To facilitates education for audience about public health &to create awareness in public opinion. To obtain social or political support for health activities. OBJECTIVES OF IEC Regular visit by the workers More focus towards problem solving Training at various levels Interpersonal communication with media. Focus on local field problems.
