objectives:- 1)To assess the knowledge regarding behavioral problems of children among school teacher’s. 2)To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on behavioral problems among school teachers. 3)To asses the attitude regarding behavioral problems in children’s among school teachers.
hypothesis H1-there is a significance difference between the pre-test and post-test level knowledge score among teachers who are teaching to the children of 6-12 years of age. H2-there is a significant association between post-test level of knowledge of teachers and selected socio demographic variable.
assumptions Primary school teachers will be having some knowledge regarding behavioral problems and their prevention among school going childens . The tool prepared by the investigator will be sufficient to collect the data. Development of a structured teaching programme based on the assessed knowledge regarding behavioural problems and their prevention among school going childrens will update school teacher’s knowledge in preventing behavioural problems.
delimitations 1)The study will be limited to the teachers who are not available at the time of data collection. 2) The study will be limited to the teachers those who are not teaching to the children of 6 to 12 year of age and above 13 years of children’s. 3)The study will be limited to the teacher those who are not interested to participate.
Operational Definitions of Terms : Assess: Refers to the organized, systematic and continues process of collecting data and statistical measurement of knowledge regarding behavioural problems Effectiveness : it refers to the extent to which the structure teaching programme is helpful in gaining knowledge by the teacher who are teaching to children’s of (6 to 12 years) regarding behavioural problems Structure teaching programme : it refers to the systematically developed programme with teaching aids, designed to impart the knowledge regarding behavioural problems among teacher Behavioral Problems : refers to an abnormality of emotions, behaviour or relationship which is sufficiently severe and persistent to handicap the child in his social or personal functioning and to cause distress to the child, their care gives and to the people in the community, such as, thumb sucking, stammering, reading difficulty, arithmetic problems, hyperactivity, and nail biting. Children: refers to school age children those who fall in the category of 6-12 years of age. School teachers : it refers to the teachers who are teaching to the students of age 6 to 12 years
methodology Research approach:- a quasi-experimental approach, a subtype of quantitative approach was used for the study. Quasi-experimental involves the manipulation of the independent variables that are implementing an intervention. Research design :- one group pre-test post-test research design will adapted for this study. It involves the randomization, manipulation of independent variables that is by implementing an intervention.
MATERIALS AND METHODS Source of Data: Primary school teachers of selected schools in Gadag District. Criteria for sample selection: a) Inclusive criteria Primary school teachers of selected Primary Schools at Gadag Primary school teachers who are willing to participate in the study. Primary school teachers who are available at the time of data collection. b) Exclusive criteria: Primary school teachers who are sick. Primary school teachers who are not willing to participate in the study. Primary school teachers who are not available at the time of data collection.
Research setting: The study will be conducted in selected urban Primary School at Gadag . Sampling technique: Simple random technique will be used to selected the primary schools from urban area of Gadag city and the Simple random technique to select the subjects. Sample size : 80 Population: teachers who are teaching 6 to 12 years childrens Tools of Research: The investigator will use structured questions which consists of two parts PART I: Socio-demographic proforma. PART II: Structured knowledge questionnaire about selected behavioral problems and their prevention among school going children.
Method of data collection step-1 : Formal permission will be taken from; Principal of GIMS Govt college of Nursing Gadag The primary school of urban areas of Gadag . Step-2: Investigator will introduce herself to the subjects and take consent from each subject. Step-3: Investigator will administer structured questionnaire to assess the knowledge about behavioral problems and their prevention among children.
Method of Data analysis and presentation : Collected data will be analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Mean, standard deviation and mean percentage will be used to describe the knowledge of the Primary school teachers. The relationship between the knowledge scores and selected socio demographic variables will be determined by using chi-square test. Data will be presented in the form of tables, graphs and diagrams.
Projected outcome: The findings of the study will help the primary school teachers to identify the behavioural problems in early stage and take appropriate preventive measures .
