ROWEL C. ACEBUCHE PRESENTER Implementing the Curriculum

Curriculum Central guide for teachers or educators to know what is essential for learning and teaching. Implementation is to carry out or to execute the plans and putting them into action.

Curriculum Implementation this term refers to the act of working out the plans and suggestions that have been made by the curriculum specialists and the subject experts in a classroom or school setting. [

Curriculum Implementation It is a process wherein the learners acquire the planned or intended knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are aimed at enabling the same learners to function effectively in the society.

Ornstein and Hunskins, 1998 Curriculum implementation is the interaction between the curriculum that has been written and planned and the persons who are in-charge to deliver it.

Curriculum implies the following: 1. Shift from what is current to a new or enhanced curriculum; 2. change in knowledge, actions, attitudes of the persons involved; 3. change in behavior using new srategies and resources; and 4. change which requires efforts hence, goals should be achievable.

Curriculum Implementation as a Change Process Kurt Lewin (1951) He explains the forces of change. He made a model that is used to explain curriculum change and implementation. This model is called Kurt Lewin's Force Field Theory.

Alteration there is a minor change to the current or existing curriculum. 3. Restricting Building a new structure would mean major change or modification in the school system

Categories of Curriculum Change 4. Perturbation These are changes that are disruptive. But teachers have to adjust to them within a fairly short time. 5. Value Orientation This respond to the shift in the emphasis that the teacher provides which are not within the mission or vision of the school or vice versa.

Elements of Curriculum Implementation 1. Developmental 2. Participatory 3. Supportive
