What is In-service Training? -training that is given to employees during the course of employment / -taking place or continuing while one is a full-time employee
a wide spectrum of in-service training events in the form of sharing sessions, workshops, seminars and school-based programs for teachers and non-teaching staff of special schools and ordinary schools.
In–Service training program is frequently organized every year to orient new comers or to orient the old ones. They are scheduled in such a way that after a national or regional program for a definite area or objective has been held, echo or seminars are conducted in the different divisions and later in the schools within. …
The purposes of in–service education are the ff . To promote the continuous improvement of the total professional staff of the school system . To eliminate deficiencies in the background preparation of teachers and other professional workers in education.
To keep the professional abreast of new knowledge. To release creative activities To give the much needed support to the teachers who are entering a responsibility or a new field of work especially the new teachers.
SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY LINKAGES Defining the community … -the concept of community can be expanded to encompass the entire range of resources
(e.g., all stakeholders, agencies and organizations, facilities, and other resources -- youth, families, businesses, school sites, community based organizations, civic groups, religious groups, health and human service agencies, parks, libraries, and other possibilities for recreation and enrichment).
School-community partnerships are often referred to as collaborations .

Pedagogy outcomes strengthening links between schools and communities can lead to clear educational outcomes. There is considerable evidence of improved student performance and competency levels from school community interaction.
Community outcomes Schools are key “hubs” for many communities and can play an important role in their community without stepping outside their core educational role. Vibrant communities depend on the next generation having the values and skills to be active citizens and schools benefit society as a whole fostering these values in students.
School Outcomes there are opportunities for schools to build community support by investing in community relationships and community links.
