CONCLUSION The Government of India in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India decides the design of banknotes. On 8 November 2016, the Government of India announced the denomination of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 note with effect from midnight of the same day, making these notes invalid. A newly redesigned series of Rs. 500 banknote, in addition to a new denomination of Rs.2000 banknotes is in circulation since 10 November 2016. The Rs.1000 note has been suspended. On 25 August 2017, a new denomination of Rs.200 bank notes was added to the Indian currency structure to fill the gap of notes due to high demand for this note after demonetisation . In July 2018, the Reserve Bank of India released the redesigned series of Rs.100 bank notes.
