Insect Life cycles By khadija Saadeh

Most insects undergo metamorphosis as they develop into adults. Ladybugs, like butterflies, go through complete metamorphosis . In these stages, the insect looks very different from the adult.

Complete Metamorphosis 1- ladybug eggs An adult ladybug lays her eggs on a leaf. 2- Ladybug larva Larva hatches from each egg. The larva looks different from the adult. 3- pupa The pupa does not move as it slowly changes into an adult. 4- Adult ladybug

Complete Metamorphosis Ladybug eggs Ladybug larva Ladybug pupa Adult ladybug Do young ladybugs look like their parents? After they hatch, they do not look like their parents. They must go through complete metamorphosis before they become adult insects.

Incomplete Metamorphosis Grasshoppers and dragonflies go through incomplete metamorphosis. This means that they go through changes as they grow, but the way they look does not change much.

Incomplete Metamorphosis 1- Egg A grasshopper lays her eggs in the soil. 2- Nymph Nymphs hatch from the eggs. A nymph looks like an adult grasshopper, but it doesn’t have wings. As it grows, a nymph sheds its outer body covering several times. Its wings become larger. 3- Adult The last shedding produces an adult grasshopper.
