Session 1. Context of the 2024 SHS Teacher’s InSet: From Planning to Teaching
Implementing the Curriculum Guide (CG) WHY TEACH? ALIGNMENT FRAMEWORK HOW TO ASSESS AND EVALUATE? HOW TO TEACH? WHAT TO TEACH? MOST ESSENTIAL TOPIC (Met) Appropriate Flexible Learning Strategies (FLS) Appropriate Flexible Assessment Activities (FAA) Goal in Teaching the Course Nature of the Course Role of the Course in attaining the mission of the SHS, ARTICULATE THE REASON in teaching the subject to a class Identify essential knowledge, skills, and attitude (competencies) to develop in every learner enrolled. Determine Flexible Assessment Activities (FAA) that monitor the progress of learner’s self paced learning. Determine Flexible Learning Strategies (FLS) that facilitate learner’s self – paced of learning the Most Essential Topics (MET) Determine the MOST Essential Topics (MET) that facilitate the development of competencies (KSASs)
NATURE OF THE SUBJECT Informs the way the subject must be taught and learned. K-12 curriculum exit Champion Skills Salient Skills implied the shs PLOs. 4 essential 21 st century skills 6 key areas of life skills Higher Education Entrepreneurship Employment Middle level Skills Development. Culminating performance standard A performance standard that encapsulates the general reason for teaching the subject (either the 1 st or the last performance standard among those enumerated in the CG). PERFORMANCE TASK The final task of the student as evidence of the extent of achieving the subject’s learning targets (or the metrics of the reasons for teaching the subject). It has a: Transfer Goal: What in the long run after SHS can students do on their own with what they learned? Performance Scenario: What real – life situation can students put themselves in where they can perform the transfer goal? Most Essential Topics The topics in every content domain that are essential in facilitating student’s achieve the subject’s learning targets ( or the metrics of the reasons for teaching the subject). Goal in Teaching Subject informs what are the essentials to teach and learn.
Exercise 1: Multiple choice 1. According to Newton's first law of motion, an object at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by a) A balanced force b) An unbalanced force c) Gravity d) Friction 2. Which of the following is an example of Newton's second law of motion? a) A ball rolling down a hill b) A person sitting on a chair. c) A rocket launching into space. d) A book resting on a table. 3. According to Newton's first law of motion, an object in motion will continue moving with the same speed and direction unless acted upon by a) Friction b) Gravity c) Air resistance d) An external force Look at the answers
